Chapter Ten
Judah
It has been two days since Wren and Scarlet have woken from their comas. They woke up because my precious little Marisol saved them, and then she might as well have been discarded.
Three days since her and I were in the same pack and I was unaware. Three days since Benjamin taunted me with the thought of her just to steal her away from me. Seeing her in his arms as he took her away was maddening.
Scarlet regained her magical ability yesterday afternoon, but she says she still feels weak. While Wren still can't shift, can't feel his wolf and his healing is incredibly slow.
Wren and I agreed not to tell the pack that he couldn't feel or shift into his wolf for their own good. They were acting wild while he was in a coma, so I know they would act worse if they need that he's lost his ability to shift. The last thing that we need right now is for them to act even more irrational than they already have.
I'm torn between my duty to my people and my duty to my mate. I've contacted every single alpha within the pack lands and they all confirmed that Marisol and Benjamin both don't belong to a pack. Those who knew Marisol told me how lucky I was to have her as a mate and testimonies on how she has helped their pack members find their soulmates and how she was able to navigate the problems that came along with it.
I couldn't help but be jealous of the wolves who knew her and complimented her on her abilities. They spoke highly of my mate and what she has done to help the members of their pack.
That meant she lives within the outskirts of the pack lands, but it still can't be too far according to the wolves that I have spoken to. As much as I would love to send wolves to look for her and even go myself right now is too dangerous of a time to go searching for her. The only thing keeping me sane is knowing that Benjamin is more than capable of keeping her safe.
Cole walked into the room that Wren graciously has converted into an office for me during my stay here. He bowed. "No one will feel slighted or disrespected if you decide to go search for your mate. Sofia and I can hold it down here, it is not something we haven't handled before."
Just him mentioning Sofia by name was enough to further irritate me. As much as I wanted to tear her apart limb by limb I wanted Marisol to be by my side as she witnessed it. To show her how I will treat anyone who disrespects her.
"I will start searching for her when Alpha Wren's wolf returns so he is able to defend his pack in case something happens. The alpha's told me that she regularly visits their pack to help their pack members. They said that they will make me aware if she steps onto their territory."
Cole nodded his head. "I just want what is best for you. You have gone too many years without her."
He isn't wrong. I've been alive for 70 years and was expected to find my mate fifty years ago. There have been those who had mates that had challenged me for my title as King, solely because I didn't have one. Those challenges were immediately dealt with. It has been forty years since any wolf has challenged me.
I put my pen down to give Cole my full attention. "How has the training been going with Alpha Wren's pack warriors? I hope they have improved." From what I've seen they are excellent warriors, but there is always room for improvement.
"Yes." He moved to sit in the chair in front of my desk. "I believe that with the training they have received and now the witches and rogues not having the element of surprise that they will be ready."
"And the renovations?" I ask.
"Scarlet is positive that if the witches attempt to enter any of the homes or the pack house it'll disrupt their magic and we will have the advantage."
I nodded my head. Scarlet's plan to get materials that would disable magic in certain areas of the pack was genius.
After Wren had woken up he and I discussed what could be done to stop these witches because he was the one to witness first hand their destructive behaviors. We first came up with having Scarlet cast a spell that will disrupt all magic throughout the entire pack, but even with her power at full strength it would be too much for her. So we settled for all the buildings in the pack to have the spell done. After we came to that conclusion Scarlet added to the plan by listing herbs that could disable a witch's magic. We would have somewhat of the advantage the next time they decided to show their faces.
"Good. I've sent a message to all packs to do the same, some of the packs don't have witches so we'll have to send some the witches from our pack down to theirs."
Cole nodded. "With this we should be able to handle this problem swiftly, especially since we have given our warriors to every pack. All of the packs will be stronger by the time this is done."
"Reach out to Beta Charlie, tell him to let all of the Alpha's notify me when the spell has been casted. Once they all have that protection we all need to have a sit down meeting on how we are going to deal with this problem."
I probably should be the one to reach out to the Alphas, but after taking to each and everyone of them about Marisol I know they are going to ask if I found her. Having to acknowledge that I haven't even left this pack in an attempt to look for her that many times will make me feel like a fool and drive me mad. They will no doubt look down on me for not immediately trying to find my mate.
Cole nodded before getting out of his seat and leaving the room.
I look down at all the paperwork that I've done in the past two days. I probably haven't done this much paperwork since I first became King. I usually stuck it on Alex because he doesn't have anything better to do and he doesn't mind.
All of this work in an attempt to keep my mind wandering to where my mate has been living her entire life if not with a pack. I know she's been safe, and that Ben would always protect her, but it still made me anxious.
My grip on my pen tightens until I hear a snap and I notice that I broke it.
My office door opens, and I look up expecting to see Cole telling me that Beta Charlie has already began sending out messages but instead it's Benjamin with that damn smirk on his face.
I immediately get out of my chair, ready to attack him for taking my mate away from me.
He quickly lifted his hand up in surrender, "I'm not here to fight. I'm here to tell you where Marisol is."
My wolf is still urging me to attack, but I calm myself down enough to sit back down. I can harm after he tells me where Marisol is.
"Tell me now." I need to know that she's alright. That she's safe. She needs to be here with me.
He sat down in the chair that Cole was sitting in a few minutes earlier. He crossed his left leg over his right knee before putting on that smug smile of his.
He lets out a whistle before stating. "I must say the fact that you haven't even left to look for her yourself is very disappointing. I expected some effort from you." He mocked. "I thought that Judah, the Alpha King who has been begging me for years to tell him who his mate is, wouldn't let anything get in his way when it came to her."
My knuckles cracked from the pressure of me making a fist, all in an attempt to spare this male that Marisol cares about. "Benjamin, you must understand that I don't care that you are in favor with the moon goddess I will kill you anyway." I warn.
"Oh, believe me I understand, but you understand that I am Marisol's favorite person." The cockiness in his words feels like a knife straight into my heart. "That means you won't harm me in any way. She would probably never forgive you."
I felt my left eye begin to twitch. I should have just killed him years ago when he refused to show me who my mate was. I wouldn't have to deal with him and I would have my mate all to myself. I definitely wouldn't have to deal with him calling himself my mate's favorite person.
"Call yourself her favorite again, and Marisol will never see you alive again."
"Fair enough. Now Marisol is currently visiting her family in the South Pack so if you would like to come with me you can." He stood up brushing his pants slightly. "Let's go."
"Bring her to me, I can't leave this pack right now." I feel absolutely pathetic. I need to go to my mate, but I can't leave this pack in the state it's in. Even if they aren't aware that their Alpha can't contact his wolf.
Benjamin raised his left eyebrow at me. "Please tell me, what is more important than Marisol that you can't get to her right now?"
"Nothing is more important than her. It's just-" I pinched my nose, now is not the right time to tell him and have him question me anymore than he already has.
"My King, tell me what I can do to help you go to Marisol, because you need to be the one to go to her. You need to show her that you want her." What he saying is true, I need to be the one to go to her, let her see that I am nothing without her.
The other day he was able to go into Cole's and Alex's mind to knock them out, maybe there is something that he can do.
"Alpha Wren can't feel his wolf or shift, do you think it is possible that you can enter his mind and pull his wolf to the surface?" The worst thing he could say is no, and the most likely thing is him rubbing in my face that I am in need of his help.
He smirked at me, and I guess the moment of him being genuine and sentimental is over. "Of course I can, you are aware I am favored by the moon goddess. Lead the way."
I get up and fight the urge to attack him. Not only is he the one that's going to help Alpha Wren, he's also Marisol's favorite person. That was going to have to change and fast.
It didn't take long to get to the hospital wing, Wren was staying there to be monitored until his wolf reappeared just incase the seizures weren't over.
Wren looked over at us and he immediately bowed his head to me. "Is this the moon healer who healed me?"
Benjamin smiled fondly. "No, that would be my sister Marisol who healed you."
"Tell her I said thank you."
Benjamin smiled and nodded his head. "She will appreciate that more than you'll ever know. I'm here because I have the ability to enter your mind and pull your wolf to the surface. Before I do that you should be aware that your when I do you will probably shift, and your wolf will probably be in control."
"I understand I just need my wolf to run this pack."
Benjamin nodded and then turned to me. "Restrain him."
I walked over to Wren and pinned his arms behind his back before pressing the front of his body against the wall.
Benjamin's hands started to glow white, and his dark hair turned into a white blonde. "This is going to be fun."
