Marisol

Judah stayed true to his word, he kept space between the two of us while we walked towards Benjamin's car. He didn't ask me where the car was located, just started walking in the direction of it. He could probably just follow Benjamin's scent to his vehicle. I could see that it was irritating his wolf, every now and then I would notice the signs of his wolf attempting to force him to shift.

I was really tempted to stay at the South Pack. I wanted to stay and spend time with my family, especially James because I don't know when I am going to see them again. I don't even ask though, because I know that I couldn't stomach looking at them after they confirmed my insecurities. Especially if they were to say something like they said earlier in front of my mate.

What they said to me earlier doesn't matter. Judah accepted me, he actually wants me to be his mate.

When we made it to Benjamins's car he turned to face me. I abruptly stop, trying not to crash into his chest as he and I stare into each other's eyes. It is not. the first time that I am looking at him face to face, but it is the first time that I am noticing how blue his eyes are. Not a pale blue like my family has, he has a different kind of blue. A darker blue.

"Marisol, I will not ride in the car with you to give you space and time to think." His eyes flash to the amber gold that I know belong to his wolf. I've never seen a wolf with such pretty eyes.

I notice how tense his body is, and I can tell that his wolf wants to be in control. I would hate for him to lose control right now, especially with my parents being members of this pack.

I place my hand on his arm. "Thank you for being so gentle and understanding with me. The time you're giving me I'll be sure to have a clear head for the conversation that you want us to have when we get to your pack."

He nods his head, and gives me a tight smile. This lets me know that his wolf is probably still trying to gain control.

"I will see you soon, Marisol." He said before walking away. I keep my eyes on his back until he walks out of my eyesight.

I turn to see Benjamin and Izumi who don't even have the common courtesy to pretend that they weren't listening to the entire conversation.

Izumi smirks as she opens the car door and gestures for me to get in. "I must say an Alpha that has that much control over his wolf? I've only seen my original pack Alpha be able to do that. The rest just lose control and do whatever the hell they want."

Benjamin scoffs. "You don't have to sound so impressed."

Izumi rolls her eyes but I can't help but laugh at Benjamin's jealousy, it is very rare for him to ever be jealous which is unusual for a male wolf. Male wolves tend to feel jealousy on a toxic level.

We all get settled into the car, with Izumi once again sitting in the backseat with me.

I've actually have never been to Judah's pack before, so I am not exactly sure how long it will take us by car and I just couldn't help but ask. "How long will it take us to get there?"

Izumi turned to me and tilted her head. The way she is observing me is making me a little nervous. "Hmmm Marisol wants to know how long it's going to take to get there is she already missing her mate?" She started to tap her pointer finger on her chin.

"I wonder why she's so eager to know?" Benjamin chimed in.

I didn't bother responding to their teasing, I know it would probably make them worse. If I knew that they would become a duo of people who liked to poke fun at me I would never have told Benjamin about my vision about Izumi.

"I bet it's so her and the Alpha can scent mark each other some more." She started to wiggle her eyebrows at me, and I couldn't help but laugh at her as I felt the blood rush to my cheeks. As funny as her joke is I still can't help but be embarrassed that they witnessed that.

Benjamin made a fake gagging sound. "Yeah no more of the scent marking please! You are covered in his scent it's suffocating me!"

"What? I think it's cute. You never scent marked me." Izumi stated before crossing her arms.

Benjamin adjusted the rear mirror so he was making eye contact with Izumi. "Trust me we will be doing a whole lot of that later."

Izumi covered her face into her hands. I know my mate said he was giving me space to think, but how am I supposed to do that with these two? I should have known that this car ride would be filled with them teasing me. I would have been better off asking someone from the South Pack to drive me.

I leaned forward in the car so my head was in between the two front seats. "How long?"

He glanced at me before turning back to the road. "About an hour, all of the other packs are surprisingly close the King." Benjamin clears his throat. "But Marisol we need to have a serious conversation for a moment."

I lean back into my seat as the tension rolls around in the car. Benjamin is never serious so when he does get serious I always give him my full attention. "Alright, what about?"

"Earlier today when I found the King he informed me that while Alpha Wren was awake, he couldn't contact, feel, or shift into his wolf."

My mouth parted slightly with shock, I healed him I know I did. I felt his hands squeeze mine very tight. I had faint bruises on my hands from the rest of the day from how tight he squeezed my hand.

"I healed him." Those were the only words that I could force out of my mouth. I didn't stay after I healed him, I could barely function. I should have pulled myself together to make sure everything was okay.

"You did, you healed his body, but whatever those witches did? It disabled the magic in his body. He and the other warrior wolves aren't healing as fast, and the witch that you healed her magic is slowly coming back to her."

"What about Alpha Wren?"

"I was able to pull his wolf to the surface, but it was painful for him and I." He started speaking quieter. "I felt like my body was being torn in half I've never felt that much pain from simply entering another wolves mind before. Then when I teleported with the Alpha King I felt that pain once again, which is why we're driving. Whatever magic those witches are using need to be stopped."

I hear Izumi try to hold back her tears as she talks. "Pull over and let me drive you need to rest like Marisol did! Then you won't be in so much pain." Hearing the pain in her voice made me want to start crying too.

Benjamin chuckled as he turned the rear view mirror to look at Izumi. "Don't worry my love, I will get all the rest that I need soon I'm not in pain as long as I am not using my gifts."

Izumi nodded as she wiped her tears.

I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her closer to me in an attempt to comfort her but my mind was wandering elsewhere.

If Benjamin and I can't help the victims of blood magic without hurting ourselves in the process, how in the world are we suppose to help them win this war?

Even though the car ride to Judah's pack was short, it was very quiet and depressing after Judah's revelations about blood magic. I know that Judah wanted to talk to me about something but when it comes to stopping the witches and the rogues that should be the number one priority.

Izumi, Benjamin and I step out the car. None of us willing to break the silence that we had fallen into. Even though there was an entire palace in front of us I couldn't take my eyes off of Benjamin.

Since he mentioned how weak he's felt in the car I can't help but notice now that even though he was his usual snarky self, his words came out a little slower and it seemed like it took a little extra effort for him to talk.

I knew Izumi felt the same way as she wrapped her arm around his waist and pulled him closer to her so he could put some of his weight on her.

We walked into the surprisingly quiet and empty palace looking pack house.

Now that I think about it I didn't even see any wolves out and about on our walk to get to the pack house either.

When we step inside we are greeted by a really tall male wolf, and if my memory serves me correctly he must be the Beta.

He instantly bowed towards me. "You must be my Luna, I am the Beta of this pack but please just call me Charlie."

I smiled at him, "It is very nice to meet you Charlie, my name is Marisol." I reached out my hand to shake his hand.

Confusion crosses his face before replacing it with a polite smile. He went to shake my hand before a growl broke the air and caused the ground to shake just a little.

We both instantly snatched our hands back as Judah stalked towards us. I can't help but notice that he's changed clothes, shaved and cut his hair a little bit.

I heard Izumi let out a whistle before saying, "Someone's in trouble."

I can't help but blush as he stomps towards us, he doesn't stop until I'm in his arms wrapped in a hug.

"If you were to shake his hand you would have his scent on your hand, and I can't stand the thought of another males scent on you right now." He turned to face Charlie, I'm sure to glare at him.

"I was just trying to be polite and introduce myself." My breath catches as he snapped his attention back onto me. I couldn't help but be mesmerized by his eyes once again. "Also Benjamin needs to rest for a while."

I hoped me changing the subject would stop Judah from scolding his Beta and I.

He nods his head to his Beta. "Take Ben and his mate to the sleeping quarters that I have arranged for them." He places his hand on the small of my back after Charlie leads Benjamin and Izumi away. "You and I need to talk now, Marisol."
