Chapter 19
William, the chauffer, was organized to take Monty into town to the meeting he had organized with Frank Sullivan. Victoria was also traveling into the center of town as she also had a few errands to run. They left the house in Staten Island mid-morning. After dropping Victoria off first, William next took Monty out to Brooklyn College. Hank, in his library office was his first point of call. Monty informed him how he had just found out his mother had gifted him a property in Staten Island she had inherited many years ago. This is where he was now living.
He kept all the other details, his father, the standing stones in the basement, all to himself. This was all way to out there to share with anyone at the moment. Even his good friend Hank. After Hank, next, Monty caught up with Dr Jefferson. He informed him, that he has just found out that he has a property over in Staten Island, that his mother had gifted him many years ago. This was all helpful to organize the work visa he now required, the new job, his PhD, and now property ownership were all helpful in this quest. It seems this would just be a formality. His father, the Leprechaun O’Hara informed him it was already a done deal.
Just on 2:00 pm, Monty arrived at Frank’s Office. As he entered, Frank’s PA greeted him.
“Go straight on through, Dr O’Hara. Mr and Ms Sullivan are expecting you.”
As Monty opened the door to Frank’s office, Frank who was seated on one of the couches, with Gloria beside him.
“Come in Monty, come and join us.”
Monty strode over and sat in the other couch. Both Frank and Gloria seemed to be in a great mood.
“I am still struggling with the concept of all this mythology stuff, but everything is back to normal. Or possibly even better.” said Frank, glancing a look towards Gloria, as he spoke the last bit.
“Your new position and department over at Brooklyn College sounds interesting.” added Gloria. “If you are going to be here a while, we should keep in touch.
Monty then talked about the property in Staten Island, his mother had inherited and given to him many years ago, that he had just found out about. His mother had asked him to invite them over, so when it suits you both, you must come over sometime. His mother was intending to be over here for around six months, so you must come over and meet her sometime.
“What do we owe you for your services?.” Frank asked Monty.
“Nothing more, by the tradition of the ritual you have already paid in full.” answered Monty. “If I step outside this, and break the tradition it could all blow up in my face. Since, that night, my life has improved way beyond what it was before. I am happy with all as it stands.”
After a bit of further small talk, Monty said. “I must be off now. My mother and her driver will be waiting for me outside.”
Gloria added. I have somewhere I need to be as well. I will come down with you.”
Monty and Gloria set off to Frank’s private lift and back out of the building.
On the way down in the lift, Monty asked Gloria if she would like to meet his mother. Leaving the entrance of the building where Frank’s office was located, Monty noticed it had been lightly raining. It was still drizzling slightly, with the sun out. The moment they stepped outside, a rainbow instantly formed. This rainbow had a definite end, and that end was most certainly right where Gloria was. As she moved, the end of the rainbow followed her.
Seeing the car containing his mother, Monty led Gloria over towards the car. Seeing them approach, Victoria opened the car door and walked over to meet them.
Hugging Gloria Victoria began to speak.
“Hello, you must be Gloria Sullivan, Monty, and his dad have had lots of good things to say about you. I am Victoria O’Hara, Monty’s mother. As we are a bit double-parked, we have not enough time for a proper chat. You and your father must come out and visit us sometime. I would like to get to know you a bit.”
With this Victoria gave Gloria another hug. Monty and Victoria climbed back into the car, and Gloria started walking back to her nearby office. As she walked up the road, Monty noticed the end of the rainbow went with her. The rainbow following her, science and logic told him this was impossible, but he saw it all, with his own eyes.
Back in the car and on the way back home to Staten Island, Victoria began to speak
“Monty that girl is going to become a special part of your life. I saw the rainbow too.”
For the rest of the journey home, Victoria and Monty, spoke very little. They were both lost within their own worlds and thoughts.
Back at work, in her own office, Gloria was having trouble keeping her mind on the task on hand. She was having a meeting with a prospective new client. It was not going well. Her mind kept going of on its own. Monty O’Hara, instead of the Client, was the focus of her attention.
Latter that night, another Friday she was having the same dream she had last Friday. Gloria finds her self in the same vivid dream, she had lat Friday, a week ago. Again she is at the table, with the marked off pink candle. Gloria lights this candle. The candle was as she had left it last Friday, the candle is burnt down to the third section string marker. Where, it was when, she snubbed it out a week ago. Gloria lit the candle and started the same ritual, stopping when the candle reached the next string marker. Gloria then snuffed out the flame, in the manner prescribed by the Gypsy woman Lavinia in the first candle dream.
That same night Monty was lying awake, unable to fall asleep. Gloria Sullivan was his total focus. He just had to have her as part of his life. The last month his life had been completely turned upside down and inside out. Everything he believed in has completely changed. His father, it seems, actually is a leprechaun. He feels he is about to set off on a great adventure, his life is about to get way more interesting than he thought it ever possibly could, wondering what adventures he was about to set off on.
