Chapter 14

When I thought of that, my weak soul trembled instinctively for

a moment.

Even after all this time, I still felt unbearable pain.

I held myself tightly and stood close to the police officer if it would give me some sense of security.

My mom looked at the autopsy report, and her eyes fell on the words “beaten to death“. She opened her mouth several times, but she couldn’t say a word.

Wendy frowned and sighed, feeling very disgusted with this place, and she constantly looked at the watch on her wrist.

“Mom, she’s dead. There’s nothing you can do. Don’t be so sad. Leave the rest to the cops. Let’s just hope they can catch the killer ASAP”

My dad gently patted my mom’s shoulder and said, “Wendy is right. Violet is dead already. Now that Wendy has grown up, she can face life and death calmly.”

After hearing his words, I laughed.

I was beaten to death, but he took this opportunity to lecture Wendy on the philosophy of life.

The car was even quieter now.

The only thing they could hear was their continuous heartbeat.

My mom leaned her head against the car window, looking outside, murmuring something that no one could understand.
