Misha the Beast Tamer.

Chapter 29

It had been a good 3 months since Rose the seer sent a letter to the Werewolf clan; the Conri's, letting them know of my existence and that their blood runs through my veins and that I was also human.

I had almost forgotten about it, until one cool evening there was a knock on my door. Aqila wasn't with me, she was studying in the library. I was alone. I opened the door and almost squealed in delight, my visitor was Emrick. I threw my arms around the startled and very wet vampire. I invited him into our room.

After I finally settled down and had stopped talking Emricks ear off I asked him,

"What brings you back here, Emrick?"

Emrick looked a tired mess, the hood of his cloak was pushed back and the water, dripped off his hair, down his face and onto the floor. I got up and handed Emrick a towel to dry himself. Once I was seated again he answered my question.

"We've got a reply from the Conri's. They believe you are either very mistaken or a liar, they're not sure which one you are as of yet. They're curious about you though and they've agreed to a meeting with you, me, Ronin and Rose face to face.

They know you're at the beast tamer academy and aren't very happy with your choice of education. They see beast tamers, hunters, trackers, attendants, and breeders as all the same...Evil and out to cause them harm.

"But I'm not out to harm them. I'm a tamer in training, not a hunter." I answered, slightly offended by their assumptions.

"So when will this meeting take place?" I continued.

" When you're on your final break of the year. They'll write to Rose and you before then and give us a day and a place to meet."

Ever since Aqila and I were partnered in a weird, mysterious, ceremony it seemed she was quieter than she usually was.

Whenever I asked her she would smile and say nothing was wrong and reassure me that she was quiet because the final examinations would be happening in a little over a month from now and she needed to study.

However, I knew something was wrong because her smile was not a genuine one. It seemed forced and distant all at once. I blamed myself, she told me she loved me and I have acted like we were before she told me and have ignored the elephant in the room....I never told her how I felt about her, the reason being, I didn't know.

She was only 2 year's older than me, so it wasn't, in my opinion, wrong to feel what she felt towards me. Maybe, she thought she was wrong having those feelings for me.

My love for Aqila was purely platonic, I admired her determination, her strength, her intelligence, her courage, and her chivalry. She will be an amazing Partner.

We would compliment each other, if only we could get passed this stone wall preventing us from being our best and bringing out the best in each other. I hoped that the beginning of my second year at the academy, Aqila would be over her feelings for me and we could move forward.

The reasoning was that next year we will be sent on our first mission outside of the school, with no help from our teacher's or ex-students, just our partnered pair's. It would not be an impossible mission, it was most likely easy, but they needed to know if we could survive purely on what we had learned in our classes. This was exciting, but also intimidating.
