Mirror Lake 2 The Journey to Save the Magic

Chapter 24 Busy Bee

Melissa's POV

I swear the last two weeks have been a whirlwind of chaos! Not that it was bad chaos…. Nate kept me in bed for two days and let’s just say I finally understood what it meant to share our magic. I was rejuvenated and even the baby seemed happy.

Between the gathering of the council of all magical creatures and meeting a new family, (which was awesome by the way! Sasha is the best and Tony is so protective! I love it!) I haven’t been able to take care of me or the baby, the way I probably should. We haven't even made time to see a doctor, much to Nate’s dismay. He said it was big enough now that we could see the gender if we wanted to…. And I do, Actually, I feel like I’m ready to just pop it out and be done with it and find out that way! Nate says I have about 2 more weeks left, so we really needed to get the show on the road. Anyway, I have been a very busy bee!

I almost choke at the thought. That was what my so-called father used to call me, Bee. Well, now it actually fits! But I won’t be thinking about him or his wife today! Nope! Today is all about ME! Well, and everybody else too.

So, today is my coronation day. I look at myself in the mirror. I’m in a seafoam green gown of some flowy material made by the fairies that I have no name for. It feels like mist on my skin and it shows off my baby bump. Sasha made a crown of flowers she put in my hair, and Candi curled it for me, so I looked halfway decent. I’ve never had to deal with girl stuff before.

All my girls gather around me. Becky, Sasha, Candi, Sam, even Elizabeth, James’ wife and Aurora are here with me!

I think I’m gonna cry!

Becky and Sasha grab my hands.

“They are ready for you!” Announced Elizabeth.

Gathering my courage and letting my girls lead the way we stepped down the staircase and up onto a platform the guys built just for today.

Nate came up to me and took my hands in his.

Some Elder dude, can’t remember his name at the moment because I’m too busy looking up at the man I love.

“Do you, Melissa, promise to honor and respect each magical creature, be a just and kind leader, and prepare to defend our peace with your life?” His monotone voice kinda threw me off my groove, but whatever.

“I promise to the best of my abilities to be a fair and just ruler and protect those in my care,” I responded.

Nate looked down on me with love and pride.

“Nathanial, do you also promise to protect and defend our kind and be a just ruler?” The old guy asked.

“I do,” Nate smirked.

Butterflies took up residence in my tummy along with the baby.

“Then by the power vested in me, by the grand council of magical creatures, May I present Queen Melissa and King Nathanial of the Fairies,” he announced.

Cheers went up and then Nate kissed me right there in front of all the old dudes and families who had come to see us. It made me happy, and I kissed him back with just as much passion.

It was finally official! I was the Queen of the Fairies.
