Chapter 22
Kimberly stirred from her unconsciousness, her eyelids fluttered but did not open. After a few minutes, her eyelids slowly opened, she sat up wondering where she was. How did she get here? She couldn't recognize her current surrounding, then it suddenly hit her.
The previous events that led her here came rushing like a flood. She hugged her knees as fresh tears began falling down her face. Her friends were gone, the man she adored and loved was also gone. She cried silently, wondering what would become of her. How was she going to get out of this place? She doesn't even have an idea where she was. She cried until her throat became sore.
“How did you get in here?"
Kimberly heard a deep husky voice ask. She looked up and her eyes met with dark angry ones. Standing some feet away from her was a handsome 6ft inches tanned skin guy with long black hair and beard that looked so soft and a tattooed right arm. The tattoos were quite intriguing
This guy is really big* Kimberly thought to herself, not taking her eyes off his large biceps. He eyed her suspiciously. She couldn't help but swallow hard from fear because the person standing before her looked powerful, there was no denying that, but what caught her attention the most in all of his features were his captivating grey eyes, she couldn't help but get lost in them.
Kimberly gazed at the stranger's eyes then she noticed that they flickered from grey to yellow and then back to grey. She flinched away in fear, wondering what the hell just happened. It seems she was slowly imagining things or probably starting to go crazy.
“I'll ask you one more time. How did you get in here?” the stranger asked again
Kimberly swore she felt a tingly sensation move up her spine at the sound of his voice. She had no idea how she was going to relate her unfortunate story to the stranger, so she broke down in tears once again.
Roy waited patiently for a reply as he couldn't help but feel touched by her tears. He could feel his wolf's sadness from seeing its mate broken. What could've happened to her that hurt her this much? Or was this some sort of set up? He wondered because some humans have been suspicious of them, werewolves for a long time now. This could be one of their tricks to find out if werewolves actually exist.
“My friends were killed by some huge dogs” she mumbled, bringing him out of his thoughts
"We were about going fishing, so I left them outside to get changed then suddenly I heard screams... I ran o-outside to find them ... all dead. lan is gone, he's gone” she sobbed at the end
In that moment, Roy's wolf felt jealous. Why was she calling another male's name? She was crying over another man when she belonged to him. His hands were in a fist as he clenched his jaw trying to conceal his anger.
“And how did you survive?" he blurted
It was obvious it wasn't his intention to ask such a question, his jealousy got the best of him but it was too late, he couldn't take back what he just said. He could see the disbelief in her eyes as she stared at him wide eyes, making him feel bad
"What are you insinuating?” Kimberly asked in disbelief
Was this stranger calling her a liar?
“It's only a question that needs an answer” he drily replied
“I ran away when they weren't looking, they still chased after me but stopped when I got to the clearing close to this house” she explained shakily, the memory still fresh in her head.
It can't be members of his pack. If the humans were considered harmless they won't harm them besides, they would've reported to him that they spotted humans close to their territory but as far as he was concerned, he got no such report, so this could only mean one thing, this was done by the white moon pack.
“I never wanted to come in the first place. He wanted this stupid camping trip and now he’s dead” her voice was choking with so much pain as she spoke
Roy doesn't know who this 'he' was and he doesn’t care finding out. He was actually grateful that the person brought his mate here. If it weren't for that person, he would never had believed he could be mated to someone.
Staring at the beautiful creature before him who was even more beautiful than he had imagined in his dreams, he then realized something, he didn't have to judge all humans based on prejudice or what they did the only family he had after his parents death. This one looked lost and hopeless even if he doubted it. He could feel her sorrow because of the mate bond, that was enough to convince him that she was indeed telling the truth.
“I'll help you" he finally said
Kimberly couldn't believe her ears. Was this stranger really willing to help her without knowing who she was or where she came from? That was really hard to believe, but deep down, she was convinced that he was sincere and she needed to trust him. Maybe that was hope, the hope of her getting out of this woods.
“Thank you" she whispered as a stray tear rolled down her cheek.
