Chapter Chapter Twenty Four

Soma

When the herbalist takes some time to collect herself and later, calls for Soma to come and sit.

Obliging her words, she slowly reaches the wooden table and sits back as she glances at the scenery.

After some time her gaze cuts off by a voice,

“ Have some tea dear. You must be famished. For you to consume any much food, your throat needs to salvate. ” cooed the words with her soft voice, the Old lady placed a delicate mud cup in her hand and poured the liquid, which smelt like Herbs.

Soma made a face smelling the content, but the Old lady encouraged her to take a sip and so she did. Not wanting to disappoint the woman who has so far done nothing but care for her health.

To her shock, the liquid tasted good as it smelt. Weird tonic. The delicate cup was emitting slight warmth in her palms. A herb tea. Then she must be the Herbst the Lady spoke. But the lady is nowhere to be found. She's gone. Now the only people present in the arena were Soma and the herbalist. After tasting the liquid, now she knows that she was being served green-colored tea. In this very hot weather? It was so like her Nana, who used to serve her guests' hot drinks, no matter the weather.

They usually don't get to have any visitors if not the animals living near their house.

The little girl named Soma, stared long and hard at the light steam rising from the cup toward her face, fascinated by it. It wasn’t long, though, before she lost herself in her thoughts again. Instantly, she felt that dull pain piercing deep within her heart and the absence and loneliness after losing, might she add, her beloved Nana.

It will get better, she reminded herself. It will.

“ Soma, dear?”

The girl jolted back to reality when she heard the soft, gentle voice calling her reminding her of the nickname her Nana had given her. She pronounced Issy, which was a shortened version of Daisy. Her Nana had told her when she’d been a child meant “ a flower with 11 petals.” The old woman said it was perfect for her, as she’d been born during the bloom of that specific seasonal flower in the hour of Moon’s parade.

“I’m sorry?” she queried the elderly woman sitting across from her.

The old lady glanced up, her dark eyes—full of wisdom and enlightenment—boring deep into Soma's silverine ones.

“You’ve just lost the only loved one,” she said. There was a hint of sadness within her speech that the girl didn’t miss.

The girl gave the old lady a slight smile, her hands gripping tightly to the cup of tea. Yes, she’d just lost her only loved one. She used to call her grandmother from her mother’s side of the family, who she fondly called Nana. Her mind concludes that kind, gentle, nearly eighty-year-old Nana might have passed on with firmness if she can't find her till now. Maybe the sickness got dense and was suffered mostly before old age.

She took another sip of the green tea, with her tiny fingers. The warm, mild liquid soothed her, and she sighed pleasantly. A little later, Healer spoke,

“ Soma, I'm the chief Herbalist in this Kingdom, as well as the counselor. You can acknowledge anything to me. It's not only about your health, your darkest night as well as your beloved times. '' she spoke so softly with her eyes twinkling like a star. Soma was tranced to be said, and thought for some moments and revealed her innermost fascinating memory.

But on the contrary, Little Quen who is halfway through Chief’s laboratory enters her blog and waits for her call to enter...

It has been precisely two counting minutes since he was left waiting outside the Healer’s room. As Quen seems quite headstrong to confirm that he is still high with that secret kiss experience with his Littleton.

But sadly before his mind drifts deeper into the pool of her lovely frame, he enters despite his manners and searches all around the crooks. His mind alerts him about the Herbalist's absence in the whole spread room before him, thus makes his usual carefree aura onto the killer posture, thinking the Lady Forniz had tricked him as he strolls down the veranda with an imaginary whoosh of his silver dusting sashaying behind his back like a tail of the shooting star.

His mind was on a marathon thinking ahead in a millennium at every passing second about his thoughts varying various scenarios happening to his Littleton. But it stops abruptly when he hears her angelic voice waving from the Garden where the Chief Healer usually spends her time... On the beat, a shower of relief passes through him, but only lasts for a little while, when Littleton's laughing turns into a tremulous tone. Fearing the worst he sprints through the daylight in a blink and freezes in the very spot at pathways turning on seeing the sight to behold before him as he hears her saying,

“ —To be frank, I've been an orphan and was told by my Nana that since both my parents had died many years back when I was barely two years old..." His Littleton gushes with her eye gleaming with unshed tears. Hearing her words Quen's heart crushed a million moons. Thoughts to comfort her in his arms singed inside his mind but it wouldn't be appropriate to intrude on her finally opening up with the Herbst, which seems to be the only reason why Lady Forniz asked him. As per the telephonic conversation with his thoughts, Quen walked back into his room and rested his head in an armchair alongside his mind drifting deep into thoughts of his love...

In-between, Soma, was scared thinking the blue-eyed man won't like her, come to think of it, and instantly, she felt her stomach knot with dread, that fear she’d always felt. The person she likes always left her to nothing. The words of the creepy Lady who left her in the woods play on her mind repeatedly.

She calmed down and stepped into the beautiful sunshine outside.

“It’s good that you talked it out for yourself,” the woman said, nodding her head. “It will be a life-changing move. I assure you. Cause many, fear to let their secrets out and just let it die within them as they live with a yearning to come upstairs for freshness.” hearing the Chief's words, Soma grins wide and intakes all the things this woman says.

And thinks about the Creepy Lady, the one she feared and hated most. The one who had whispered empty words of love to her, lies, words that made her feel sick.

She felt dizzy again thinking about her. She reminded herself,

“ Whatever you have gone through, is far away from you. You are far, far away from it now. It won’t hurt you anymore. It can’t.”

The chief assures her. “I know, Chief. Now I've known for a long time that it was time to get out.”

Herbst turned to look at Soma then as if she understood the meaning of Soma’s words. In a way, Herbst knew Soma, knew because she was so wise for her age and her tenderness carried a unique aura, just like a goddess she'd known for a long time. The Herbst did her best to help her keep the child’s responsibility in their hands and of course, to bring her out from the lonely darkness, she's somehow dwelled in.

Using the magic spell, the woman takes Soma’s symbol out of her body and places it on her forehead. It's a glittery silver-crescent moon spiraled with green vines... It's a weird combination. Yet so unique. She's been blessed with two families. And this happens without Soma’s knowledge, as she stares at the smiling sun.

Soma stayed with the Chief Herbalist for another hour, enjoying the sound of the woman’s light chatter as she was led about the large garden. Once Chief's presence was needed in the workplace, she excuses herself and rushes as she gives Soma some of her precious possessions, among them, a vial of water sparkles, a naughty wisp, and her blessings.

Soma kissed her goodbye as a maid retrieved her back to Prince’s room.

Before she could enter the room, a hand grabs her wrist as it pulls her in and closes the door with a bang. Soma was crushed in its hold but soon realizes that it was the same fragrance she smelt in the forest when the Man arrived. To confirm her suspicions, she slowly looks up and gasps at the beautiful sight.

Above stood with his face glistening in the sunlight is her Blue eyed man.

“You're safe here. You can trust me, my love. I will make sure to gain your trust. Sooner than you know. ” Hearing him whispering in his husky voice, she calms in his arms and sighs. She's promised to ensure trust with anyone with all that happened to her in the first place.

But then, why did she have the sudden feeling it was time? That she was ready? For what? She didn’t know and flicked her mind away from that subject as she looked at the ocean blue orbs, and said

“ Q-Quen? Is that you?”

“ Yes, Littleton.” He smiles wide.

“ Soma is my name. But now, I want a new name. Will you name me? ” she asks with the hope to carry a new life. But silence is what she got in return.

Before she thought that he might not give her what she wanted, she heard a whisper. More like someone's picking words from the air. When she can't get the words clearly in her head, she reaches up and glances at the pool's deep blue orbs.

“ Edwina means the innocence of yourself. You’ve got me with innocent eyes. Hence I name you, Edwina.” he announces with a wide grin. The accomplishment of achieving a request from his love is making him greedy to ask more from her, as he is ready to fulfill her deeds. But backs off when he remembers that she is a hidden Elffy. Feeling content, she lays her head on his chest, as she watches the scenery pass her by as Quen holds her waist in a firm grip and drives up in the air as they slow dance.
