Chapter Chapter Thirteen
Due to some unknown issues dropped in the king's hand, Elffy’s time was cut some slacks before the early dawn. On the contrary, for Elffy and Quen's future well-being, the Queen insisted his son hurry up for the journey to meet the Kingdom’s Royal Priest, the Troll King of Toralina.
Elffy could have joined them as well, but the Priest has a huge dislike for the uncalled visits from the kingdom’s fellow beings... Precisely, without any consent written by the Elf King itself, no one except the Royals can meet the Mighty Troll King.
But before they could process the news, the Elf King has already left the palace and to the spot, his work is concerned.
So this left her with no option but to walk back home, after a sweet smooching session with her Prince.
As she walked, Edwina couldn't help but savor this floaty feeling but hoped no one would tell her guilty act for not telling Quen about her secret ride.
The forest thins as she reaches her nest. But every time she rises her pace the surrounding around her seems like something vaguely out of the ordinary, a group of pixies climbing onto each other's shoulders to reach the higher branch, a lone Wolf cub looking a little tipsy, comes before her eyesight.
Reaching out of her nest, the first thing she did was to remove her shoes in a hurry and place them on a nearby couch, and ran off to the steps by skipping two steps at a time and reaching for her bedroom doorway. She then reaches for the drawer and picks the first thing that pops into her sight.
And jumps down two steps at a time and skids to the kitchen doors and grabs a grapevine collection she treasured since her guardians' remorse. There ain't any doors for her rooftop, only a ladder pinned with vineries and branches. Gently as possible she grabs the stem and rises herself up till she reaches Skype and sits in silence with a glass of wine as her company.
An eerie howl vibrates through the air, and the rustling of leaves above her head causes a nest of air horses to take flight and disappear into the landscape. Edwina using her dusting draws a little fawn in the air and rests back to see her skill coming into formation. Then a brilliant glitter of silver shines through the lines and comes to life as it hops and runs around her for a little while and disappears in the thin air thereby leaving the dusting to spray all over the surface.
Elffy could not share her happiness with Quen, since everything she was going to say revolved around him, Willow, Kubri, and her dear flowers were not an option though.
But there was surely one and only person on this entire planet that would give anything to hear her out about that stuff that an ordinary person would find weird— her darling crazy hot as fire best friend … Inès.
She rushed downstairs and made a quick call to Inès via the glassy falls which stopped its flow and stood like a glass sheet as the magical waves were created on the surface. A second later, Inès’s gleeful face captured her whole wall of glistening falls. Backing up she dived into her bed, ready to share the juicy gossip like a 16yo, talking about the new boy they had a crush on. Sadly they were a wee bit ahead of reality.
" Hey there, sweetie! " Inès cheered once she gets Elffy's whole self visible through her rearview mirror.
" Your happy," she said without any care of doubt.
" Yes, I am! " Elffy giggled.
" Tell me something good—" Inès implored but stopped mid-sentence when she remembered one thing.
" Wait— aren't you coming to my nest? " She inquired with a flick of sadness covering her face.
" That depends on, " Elffy continued but in the midst, she smiled looking at her friends baffled state.
" On?...." She drags
" Do you think my affair with the prince will be?"
" Sounds interesting, carry on. I'm with you" she sounds serious.
" Well, then I think it is safe to say, I have the best news ever. " Hearing her, Inès's excited screams boomed in her room as Edwie pinched her cheeks to control her laughter. And later comes the voice of doubt.
"You're not playing with me, right? " Inès scrunches her nose with a glare shooting right into her eyes.
" Not for a second! "
" Moon! " She cried, " I'm so proud of you, and I have never been so proud of you till now! Hurry away and bring it home." She cheers
"Then what about things I had done to make you proud?" Elffy teases
" You know what I mean, Elfie! " She laughs.
" I can't believe that you finally got pinned with the prince, though. Anywho watch your back and come home soon. " So come.
" But you do know that I was not into foretelling, right? " Elffy reminded her.
" First off, I would like you to know that I kind of kept an eye on you both and was shipping your marriage date for a long while. But never expected suchness to happen so soon Ms. Goody two shoes. " She said sweetly.
" Your name calls are just the worst! " Elffy said before she burst out in a pot of laugher potions.
" That's why you love me, also I have never heard you sound so excited being with a guy before. " Inès talks with a hint to make Elffy burst the real bubble bubbling inside her caged heart.
" That's because he's not just any guy, here he's my cuddling boyfriend, shoulder to cry, a mother to wipe my tears, a father to stand along my troubles and a husband to love me endlessly till we get older together. " Elffy squealed the last part aloud.
" Honey dripping moon!! Are you serious about this? " Inès pales as she asks away.
" That's right, Nessi! I still cannot believe it myself, but yes I said yes to being his Lady. " Saying she let out a small sigh of relief. It felt so good to say that out loud, to someone that was not Quen.
" This news calls for a celebration tonight. I still cannot believe the words I heard through my pierced ear. " Inès rattles on her own, forgetting the mere presence of Elffy before her screen.
" Now tell me how it was. I need to hear every single thing happening in detail. No no, wait—in person.
" Inès! '' Elffy cried and hid her face under a puffy cotton ball in embarrassment.
" What?! I just want to know! " She feigning innocence
" You're just a pervert. " She says as she shakes her head.
" I know, it's why we are the perfect best friends," Inès states as a matter of fact and continues,
" Now, now! Get those cute little buttocks of yours to my nest before the night owls' arrival." With that said, she blows a row full of kisses as the falls regain their usual self and flow down to their original state, like threads of silverine.
Skipping twice a step Elffy walks out and grabs her equipment holder, and her turtle purse, and rechecks its hold of the necklace Quen had on her neckline.
Sighing happily she calls for Willow who tags in her locker chain as she strolls past her neighboring doors.
Before she reaches Inès pathway, Elffy stops midway and glances back as a thought runs off behind her consciousness, where heard a voice calling over to the falls. At first, she tries to deny it but somehow against her will the voice draws her way back to the forbidden falls which she visited a day back. Elffy's eyes felt blinded, as she came across a stream that snakes between the tree lines, which she hadn't seen there before. The turtle alarmed her to fight the unknown power holding her captive, but in a blink, she was under its casted spell.
She could jump to the other side if she had to but the forest had created a way across roots like gnarled fingers reaching from both sides of the stream, twisting and tangling with one another, interweaving to form an uneven bridge. Wary of what may be lurking in the dark water underneath she used the pathway to cross. As she walked across the built-in bridge, on the other side she could see the sun disappearing in a blaze of orange and pink. But something on this side catches her attention as she steers out the pass-by. Before she goes like a rug got pulled she halts in her step with shaky legs retrieving the ground as she feels a glassy wave touch her skin and slowly, ever so slowly, lulls her into a trance walk.
No light, no knowledge of where it is leading her, just like a black hole has gravitational fields so strong that even light cannot escape, she was swallowed into the shell of a black, featureless sphere of the horizon. But one thing was sure, the hole can nevertheless be seen.
Her senses were numb as she was consumed by a matter that strays too close to such event horizons, which squeezes Elffy into the anonymous glowing gas. Once her whole self was drowned in the cloud, the air in her lungs got pumped out of her chest as her throat started to burn due to excessive air supply compressed in the black hole.
The rush of being under a hypoventilation zone might promptly turn the complexion into a blueish body along with other parts, leading to death. But this scenario is partial to be aware of because Elves' lifestyle and their system work differently compared to normalcy being living in the Galaxy.
But in the end, hypoventilation trains her mind to daze away in a blink which stimulates her innermost treasured events like a live re-relay.
