MEHJABEEN

Chapter Chapter Eighteen

Elixir

Her fear of being caught outlook her limp and boost her to live another day.

It isn't on her daily agenda to run over those beasts. The bounty hunts and other trap-y skills were only mentioned in the written formats through the books she read in Quen’s family palace.

It's her way of knowing the history of their respective kind. And she also bribed Quen a lot of times to steal the books for some time from the ‘Territorial Complex of Elvian Roots’, knowing that only royals are allowed to visit. Guilty as charged, she later repays him by making his favorite liquid, which causes the one to feel so high and dizzy at the moment of consumption.

Knowing the herbs and their medicinal uses from her guardian, she outsmarted the formula to create a drink for relaxation.

Now back to Ms. Hyper runner!

Elffy soon found some left-out trails of civilization on the play and their demolished pathway. On seeing it, a sparkle of hope piped through her inner consciousness.

Bearing the pain in her back, she ran off so fast and far beyond her capability, and soon the aftermath caused her limbs to heat up with numbness. Due to no avail of food in her body, as well as to the due of the daily potion, sooner than she thought exhaustion took over her body as her eyelids dropped to fall asleep as the lost cause available on the count ... But, this is Elffie we're talking. All she did was to run over and over for a specific sign to pop up on her way, with all her mighty little legs that can take her afar and out from this maddening mess.

To this moment Elffie does not know where she is. And wherever she was, it must have been the most terrifying place ever to exist for she seemed to be running without trying to figure a way out of this mess... It was as if she had almost no control over her body. In-between her running, Elffie wished to see whether it was following her or not so she tried to look back.

Then she wished that she hadn’t because what she saw still haunted her back at its full pace. And it's her dreadful imagination coming true at this moment.

She knew that it was worse than any horror she ever had. For that reason, she has great difficulty in dictating what she saw on that dreadful night not just emotionally but fact that the words do not exist to express exactly what she saw but still, her facial expressions were doing their best as her blush red face turns into a puking green at the view, as she stumbles on a log as she runs ahead.

It was worse than any horror she ever dreamt of because there was a faceless creature with its neckline covered with thick liquid dripping down, that looked suspiciously like blood. And it was not just dripping; it was splattered over his body as if someone had chopped it off blindly there. Poor Elffie at the moment thinks that she can be off the hook, with one thing done.

And then and there, she faints, but this time, mostly with her full consent. But, the last thing she knew was running, and some barking and growling in the background as she went back into a deep slumber.

•••

Elffy doesn’t know what she was expecting to happen. Perhaps she thought that her body would not respond to the commands as it didn’t with the running. Therefore it was a surprise to her when at the first attempt to open her eyes, they did.

The first thing she noticed was the intense and shadowy tunnel with a sole opening above her which was partially clouded with spider webs all over the only decorations surrounding the ancient sculpted rock walls.

Faint lights from the sky can be surpassed like a needle piercing the cotton.

How on the Moon does she get herself into such a dramatic hole? It's giving her chills, just by thinking of the variable species inherited by this tunnel hole.

On her way to find a way out, a dusty Webnode falls off the wall and makes her sneeze and cough the acidic particles out her throat.

But Elffy's throat aches with soreness out for some salvation. Before she could ask away, Willow offers some bubbles containing water for her and she on the other hand slurps a mouthful of water little by little, until she finishes the bubble to nothing.

The freshness it derived left her in a speechless stage.

“ The true elixir of life.” That's what she later mumbled. And the mere comment made Willow blush deep blue thereby turning his frosting hue into a shade of deep pastel blue.

Willow, being sneaky, tries to splash some water on Elffie and whirls off in happiness. But when he found her relishing the chill he showers her with a little bath and blows and dries her body with his spinning speed. Sneaky, smart, Willow. Never fails to amuse Elffy.

Later in her bathing session, Elffy asks Willow’s help to get out but he brushes off her request by showing his reduced powers.

Finding no way, she keenly notices every nook and corner, and later sometimes with the help of the little globe of torching lights, Elffy founds, on the rocks, there were lengthy trails of several scratches, like someone- no not just someone- an animal marks of some claw-nailed species had tried to escape from this tunnel as if that was there only way out for their survive.

It did not seem logical to Elffy that they stopped there at some times for it looked then like there were miles and miles left before the end of that gruesome tunnel she somehow got trapped in.

But then Elffie’s feet felt as if they were on fire. She looks down and she sees her poor unfortunate ten-fingered soul has been submerged in a puddle of hot mud.

How did that happen? Squeezing her brows in confusion, she hurriedly pulls her leg out but it got stuck in the middle like something in there is pinning her legs inside, the more she tries to pull out.

“Please don't let it be as I dreaded it to be ” Elffie mumbles to herself. Her soft pleas were heard out to the Moon to her favor, fortunately for the first time in this day's row.

As granted, a little sparkly light glows out underneath the mud. And not some crawlies with upside-down functioning body parts.

She starts to dig and brush off the mud aside till her legs are translucent. Her once fair-skinned legs were glowing red with a vibrating flame under her toes.

It's like a globe of flaming sunny daze. Because it's heated up like a fireball pit and the only exception in this conception is the surrounding of tree branches.

On the count of this moment, her legs were torched with heat. That got her to scrabble her legs out of the puddle. And this time, she succeeded with a fruitful object which landed on her thighs with an Oaf! And rolls to her sides.

Unique collection. But why is it in this arena? It's so beautiful to be in a place like this. No mind, that it's always torching from inside, with awareness of its surroundings. Maybe it's defining her being trapped in this realm symbolically.

Right the moment handpicked roots knitted in a form of trap nets were thrown into the tunnel hole and swayed on the rock walls lazily like an overgrown climber.

Thus, this change of scenery to her favor made her quizzically shocked Elffie the most. Firstly, why is she in here, and why did someone put her here and then later give her the helpline for her escape? Along with this magical globe beaming all the time.

The weird world it is. Without wasting any more minutes, she strolled to the web and tested the capability of weight it can withhold.

Guessing that it can help her, she slowly climbs her way up and never stops until she reaches the ground’s line.

Upon reaching the land, huffing and puffing out of breath, a billion Moon of thought struck her inner mind so hard that she facepalmed right at her forehead, nearly knocked at a pressure point.

‘Why didn't she fail to call for help from Willow and Kubri? They might have solved her problem like a pro, as they used to deal with in her earlier periods.’

The poor one in this state is the fluids in her mind which were running haywire at the atrocities she's gone through. And were helpless to reach the words out for her favor. As the events that has been unfold,

Elffie got none to blame as the red disaster which has drawn the spotlight away from the Green splash is utter that so-called trick-twister-fate’s doing.

Turning out, she sees the arena which is so beautiful yet vibes out a magnetic resonance feeling. Around her, was a vast valley left longingly to be explored. It was a very cool denim blue morning when Elffy saw this glorious place. The sky was so clear and pale with clouds so white and clean. The sun wore a large smile and the grass was greener than ever. Humming fish welcomed her with their mellifluous and melodious voices. A rainbow was prolonged across the land and it had the brightest colors of blue, yellow, pink, and orange. The aroma was breathtaking as she took more steps into the exhilarating forest. The pastel-colored trees were bright and vibrant, mile after mile. The wildly built barks now look like a candy cane and the touch of their tufts were much softer than silk, and their sweet smell of fresh butterfly milk. Under the trees were the barbaloots, frisking about, looking brown and furry, but they had the softest fur she had ever felt and they pranced past her, stuffing their chubby-cheeked faces with raspberry-looking tangelo fruits. Tangelo fruits were grown on the tangelo trees, tempting Elffie to try one and they left an everlasting angelic savor in her mouth.

Relishing the sweetness mixed with tanginess, she happily parades through the grapevine crops which seemed sweetly succulent, delicious, and heavenly. This place was rich in fruit, healthy, and enjoyable. So was the air with right crispiness and the skies happily danced through the light breeze.

This is what she called a forbidden territory to be. Or she thought it could be the one she yearned to see all her life.

She wondered then how many secrets there were embedded in this place. Thinking of which the scripts and myths the ancestors wrote about this part are wrong, on the contrary, it's completely desirable is the least she could say after seeing this wonderland. On count her conscious quests,

“Are you sure, Elffy? It could be Alffenda. Where the creatures loom freely out for their survival. Still, it's Forbidden to move in. Are you still sure, that it is what it is?”
