Chapter 3
Preparation.
One of the many things he hates to do. Basically, he hates everything involving paperwork and standing idle. Mathias rather spends his time training and patrolling because that’s what Alpha is for. He wasn’t born to sign a mountain of papers, standing idle or anything that wasting his time. For the past two days, he spent his time in the hall to make sure the preparation was done perfectly and in a timely manner. Truth to be told, he hated those two days. He had to change his schedule, wasn’t allowed to patrol, focus on the preparation and just that. He swore the whole two days were against him too. Nothing went according to his plan on those two days. Everything was a disaster until the last three hours of the second day when everything fell in together.
He checks his watch and realizes it’s just five in the morning. One hour before his first round of patrol to start. His ears pick the sound of the toilet being flushed before Eva comes out of the bathroom, wearing nothing but his shirt.
Goddess, isn’t she perfect?
The messy brown hair that screams ’Don’t judge me or risk your balls cut off’. The pink plump lips that he wants to kiss non-stop. The scent of flowers that makes him want to nuzzle his face on her neck. The soft skin he wants to touch all the times.
Mathias feels jealousy bubbles inside of him. Eva’s future mate is one lucky guy to have her.
“What are you thinking?” She crawls on top of him.
“How lucky your true mate will be,” Mathias tells truthfully.
He doesn’t hold back in many things when it comes to her. With Eva, he confides easily. There’s no need to hide things because she will find out eventually.
She smiles. “Mathias, your true mate will be one lucky girl to have you.”
At this rate, he doubts if he even wants to meet his true mate. Eva is everything a guy could have asked for.
Even though his relationship with Eva is mainly based on physical intimacy, Mathias can’t shrug the feeling that he might feel attracted to her in a different way. He groans mentally. How is he going to let her go when the time comes? Their relationship is getting into a dangerous level.
They have a deal. He still needs to let her go when the time comes even if he doesn’t feel to let her go.
Mathias pulls her head closer until their lips touch. All he can do is living in the moment. Cherish every numbered day they have left.
He rolls over, making her underneath his big body. Eva’s fingers dig on his back as he deepens the kiss. Her father will damn him to hell if her family ever finds out. And most likely, his parents won’t side with him either.
He takes off the shirt that covering her petite body from his view. His shaft erects for attention before her small hand reaches down and strokes it.
“What happened to the part ‘I’m in charge’?” He asks her huskily.
A growl leaves his mouth involuntarily as she strokes him even more.
“I wanted to hear you growled like that,” Eva whispers with her seductress tone.
Mathias nuzzles his face on the crook of her neck. The stroking is getting rapid and he will bust in her hand if she keeps doing it. Pulling her naughty hand from his shaft, he pushes his shaft in one go into her moist canal. Eva gasps in pleasure before her body arches.
“You’re really naughty.”
He moves his hips to pick the rhythm. This session is what Eva calls touch and go session. In a better way to say it, it’s a quickie session. Since their parents don’t know anything about their relationships, Mathias and Eva will have to sneak out for a moment of intimacy.
Neither of them cares about getting caught.
“Only naughty for you,” She says breathlessly. “Goddess, Mathias….”
“Come for me, baby.”
He picks his pace and her inner walls tighten around his shaft before her release of pleasure comes shortly. Mathias isn’t going to last any longer. He releases deep inside of her as he knows she’s protected.
He kisses her hard before pulling away. Eva stretches as if she has just woken up from her sleep. She drapes herself on his back as he sits at the edge.
“Mathias, what’s going on?” She kisses his shoulder blade.
He checks his watch once more. Twenty minutes before his patrol starts. He keeps checking his watch lately as if he’s counting the time whenever he’s with her. It feels like something is going to happen and he doesn’t know what it is. Whenever he’s with Eva, he checks his watch. He remembers her face—the way her forehead wrinkle when she thinks of something—the way her lips quirk when something intrigues her.
He doesn’t know what he keeps doing this. Something is telling him that he’s going to lose her to someone. Mathias hates his guts so much because he knows how accurate it is.
“Nothing,” He replies, rubbing his face on his palm. “Just thinking about how tiring today will be. With the new recruits and patrolling.”
Eva pecks a kiss on his cheek. “Warm bath, baby?”
“That will be perfect.”
He watches as she walks to the bathroom, butt-naked. This isn’t the first time he sees her naked anyway. Two minutes later, she comes out to tell him that the bathtub is ready. Mathias nods and follows her in. Five minutes of dip is good enough to soothe his body.
“Hey, you’re zoning out again.” Eva’s hand rests on his cheek as they dip inside the bathtub.
“Sorry, I’m just thinking about how I’m going to handle big recruit this time.” He lies.
Her eyebrows pull together. That act happens when she can see through his white lies. But he lets out a breath of relief when she doesn’t question him about it. Can she see that he’s worried about losing her? Mathias can’t imagine how his life will be without her. Granted, she will become his Beta after he takes over the Alpha’s position but he can’t ever imagine seeing her as his Beta and friend only.
“You’re expected to be at the hall at 8:00 for the recruitment,” Eva reminds him as they get ready to start their duty for the day.
“Thanks, Miss Blake,” Mathias responds with a kiss. “I’ll see you later.”
“See you later.”
Mathias joins his morning team. Ryker has just left his barracks. Today is one of the many exceptional days for them to go patrolling together. Tanto and Eva are leading the defense teams of both battalions while Mathias and Ryker lead the assault team as their battalions have two roles. Every battalion has two roles but there are few battalions solely for defense. But everyone is trained for both roles. Assault team has a more active role in any situation and has a wider perimeter to cover. For today, everyone is high on alert.
Because of the recruitment day, everyone’s schedule changed drastically to fit the event. The defense will be increased. Security will be tightened. Many Alpha and Luna will come to see their children entering the recruitment. The recruitment is almost like isolation. In here, Alpha’s status means nothing. Everyone will be treated equally. No status, no privileges and most of all, just a nobody who comes to train to become a better person. The recruits can go home with three-days pass once in a month. Public holidays don’t affect anything here. As cruel as it sounds, this is the sacrifice everyone is willing to take to become a better leader for their pack. Nothing comes free. There is always a sacrifice to make.
For those who come to the training while attending school or college, there are several terms and conditions apply. That is why most parents prefer to send their children to the training after they’ve graduated. Alpha’s bloodline isn’t the only ones need training. The Beta, Gamma, and Enforcers are required to do training. The Beta and Gamma usually do the same amount of training as an Alpha but lighter than Alpha’s training unless the Beta and Gamma are Alpha’s bloodline. The training for Enforcers is lighter than the training for the Beta and Gamma. Everyone varies differently. The first year of the training will determine what kind of class they will enter to proceed on for the second year. It will get even more intense as time passes by.
After the patrolling, Mathias and Ryker go to the dining hall where their parents and younger siblings are waiting for them. Their mother rushes to them and hugs them both tightly.
“My handsome boys,” She whispers, patting their backs.
“Hey, momma.” Ryker kisses her cheek.
“How are you doing, momma?” Mathias asks her, pecking a kiss on the side of her head.
“I’m doing good, honey. Did you boys just finish patrolling? Where’s Tanto?” She looks around for her mischievous son.
“Now, that’s a welcoming party!” Tanto hollers as he saunters into the dining hall. “Damn momma, you don’t look you’re aging! How the date went?”
Mathias smiles when he sees their mother smiles about the date she went with their father last night. Their old man never ceases to amaze her despite they’re getting older. According to Cohen, he will never stop dating his mate. Just because they’re mated, married and have children together, it doesn’t mean he stopped pursuing her. Their father can get really inspirational sometimes.
“Perfection.” Cynthia interrupts them. “Momma couldn’t stop blushing for the whole night!”
“Hush, honey,” Their mother blushes.
Mathias hugs his sister before the rest of the family comes closer. Cynthia and Bonnie are the carbon copies of their mother—redhead, electric blue eyes, pale skin and tall. They’re taller than an average girl. Bonnie has freckles all over her face and shoulders something that Mathias finds very pretty on her. Because of her paleness, the freckles add color to her skin. Cynthia has a small amount of freckles, notably on her nose and below her eyes. The boys in the family are taking the appearance of their father except for Enzo. He’s mixed of both. Even his hair has a light shade of red.
“One is missing,” Tanto points out. “Where’s Enzo?”
Their old man sighs. “You know him. He’s out there—somewhere.”
Mathias shares a glance with his siblings before his eyes focus briefly on his mother. Enzo used to be Tanto’s partner in crime. They created havoc everywhere they went. But, after Enzo finished college a year ago, he took off. Everyone just assumed he needed a year off before going to the Alpha’s training but it seemed like he’s taking more than a year.
“Should we go and find him?” Rinzler speaks in the mind link. “We haven’t heard anything from him since seven months ago.”
“Momma won’t allow it,” Tanto replies.
“Tanto is right. Momma won’t allow it. She knows Enzo is safe and sound out there. There’s no need to search for him,” Mathias says.
“How did your ballet practice go?” Ryker ruffles Bonnie’s hair.
Bonnie has been trying hard to do ballet since at a young age. But her recklessness sometimes cost her a lot. Last month she broke her pinkie finger while practicing ballet. When she was a kid, she broke two toes while trying to tiptoe during the practice. Mathias fails to recall when was the last time she didn’t break any of her bones during major practices. But, she never gives up. Despite everyone in the family teases her about it, she knows her family fully support her talent.
She swats his hand so hard everyone can hear the cracking sound. “Hey, not the hair!”
“She slipped,” Rinzler replies instead. “Got rushed to ER. Almost made dad canceled his date with momma.”
Bonnie squints her eyes to him.
“To be honest, I don’t think ballerina runs in the family,” Cynthia replies.
“Come on, let’s talk while we have breakfast.” Their mother ushers them to the dining table.
On the dining table, lined up all of their favorite foods. Things like this only can be perfectly prepared by their parents. Mathias does not know which restaurant can defeat homemade foods.
