Mate to a king

Chapter 24

James
It all happened so fast. First, I saw her there, in a blissful sleep. Next thing I know, a black liquid, thicker than blood, poured from
her veins.
She looked helpless, in agony.
I did the only thing I could think of, I carried her straight to the doctors office.
It was only on the floor below mine and Blooms.
This is where I am now, sitting in the office whilst the doctor does tests on her and see up her wounds.
They stopped pouring out about an hour ago. Leaving her unconscious and in a frail state.
Beeps after beeps is all that could be heart from the heart monitor. They slowly vibrate through my ears, keeping me one step
away from breaking down.
It is the only thing reassuring me she is still breathing.
The smells of chemicals and blood lingered in the air. Making me physically gag.
It isn't really pleasant but I would go through anything, I mean anything for Bloom.
Her Birthday is in a few weeks now and I already have her the perfect present. Let's just hope she doesn't fall into a coma and
stay there until after her Birthday.
The doctor came from the door and knocked me out of my thoughts.
"Sir, I am afraid I have some bad news."
He began. I listened intently because the one thing I was dreading is the exact thing that was said.
Bloom
Darkness. That's all I could see. Pure pained darkness.
The slight sound of beeping but complete darkness.

I swear I was in a strange type of limbo world.
Not dead but not alive.
I felt magical. Like nothing else in the world was like this.
The only thing keeping me from falling into the limbo world of magic is the thought of my mate.
The one who is probably in the most pain right now.
The only person keeping my spark inside alive.
Pain consumed every nook and cranny of my soul. Changing it to a bright white light.
Red marks that looked like teeth marks began to scatter my arms and legs. It is only at this point I have realised that I am
wearing a white nightdress. No longer in my normal Pyjamas like earlier.
"Hello my child, do not be afraid. This is normal." A sweet voice like honey spoke. It sounded like a feminine voice. Definitely a
lady.
"What... what's happening t...to m...m...me?" I stuttered, unable to speak due to the masses of pain spreading throughout my
body.
"All in good time young one." The voice replied. Now this made me laugh slightly.
The person sounded like a sensei.
Anyway, I stared at the sudden bright light appearing in front of me.
"Who are you?" I finally perked up the courage to ask.
"As I said, all in good time young one. Now I must leave and you my dear, need to get back to that mate of yours. He is in a lot of
pain without you." And with that, the voice was gone.
I felt myself slowly being lifted, like being lifted from a long slumber.
Slowly opening my eyes, I squinted at the bright light in front of my eyes.

Feeling something tight holding my hand down, I looked to my left and saw James there with tears in his eyes, leaning against a
chair.
I squeezed his hand, noticing him perk up slightly.
He groaned, almost as if he was waking up from sleeping just like me.
"Hey," I whispered gently, only to be crushed in a bone crushing embrace by James.
"You're awake. I have missed you so freaking much." He whispered into my ear, part of it muffled by his face in my hair.
I rubbed his back up and down soothingly.
"You scared me half to death. You really did." He cried into my hair.
"Hey I'm here now. Shhhh." I cooed into his ear to calm him down.
A few hours later and we were cuddling together in the hospital bed.
Now having found out why I was here in the first place, I managed to calm him down.
A lot of tears shed later and here we are now.
Apparently I had been out a week. It only felt like 10 minutes, but I guess that's what it would feel like in a coma though I guess.
It wasn't really a coma, more like a deep sleep I guess.
Why i had that mixture pouring out of me is still a mystery to me.
Neither of us have fallen asleep yet. Too much to think about.
So we just decided to lie next to each other thinking.
That is until the doctor came storming through the doors.
A low growl came from beside me, making the bed vibrate slightly.
"I'm sorry king, I just need to check the Queen is in a stable condition to be freed from our help." The doctor bowed.

I sat there for another hour. Having several blood tests, pulse checks and so in.
"Everything seems in order, you are free to leave. However, I would recommend staying on bed rest and keeping it easy for a
few days."
I nodded.
At least I was free.
"Also I have found out what was wrong." He whispered loud enough to show he was nervous to tell us.
"And, what is it?" James asked, authority clearly showing in his voice.
"Well, our Queen seems to be pregnant. As she is one special wolf according to tests, the blood mixture was her body's way of
accepting change. It will not happen every time, but it will happen a couple more times during the first one."
I sat there shocked.
Tears began to prickle at my eyes.
I couldn't move, talk even. I was happy, overjoyed even. Don't get me wrong I couldn't wait. It's just, I'm too young, I will be a
terrible mother. Won't I?
I heard silent hums of happiness next to me.
"Bloom, this is great. I couldn't ask for anyone else to be the mother of my pups in the world." James hugged me tightly from
behind.
"I shall leave you two alone. Congratulations." The Doctor spoke before shutting the door gently.
"I am excited it's just, what if I'm a terrible parent, what if I kill my child?" I sobbed slightly.
"Trust me you won't. There's no way you will harm the child.
You have me, remember." He chuckled. pulling me to him tighter.
This is such a great start to the rest of our life's.
With that we both began to fall asleep again.
