I gulped. Taking a deep breath whilst staring at the erected building in front of me, more in the shape of a lighthouse. I knew I shouldn’t be here, but I did after all. This’d be the second time I’d be seeing the clear sky, the outside world. I haven’t had the time to appreciate the beautiful sky and everything in between, the nature and stuff. For the first time, I felt a little bit free. The gentle breeze caressed my skin, blowing a handful of my strands into my face. I pushed the strands away from my face and continued to gawk at the building. After some fleeting minutes, I descended my gaze to the huge revolving glass entrance and marched forward. I coiled my hand and kept it to my side, heart thumping against my chest as I strolled forward toward the revolving glass entrance.
How would I walk into the mall without making it quite obvious that it was technically my second time outside and here to get the one thing that was deprived from me since I turned sixteen. I approached the revolving door, I felt anxiety kicking in me watching people go in and out of the revolving glass entrance with so much flexibility.
‘I can do this. I told myself. I still have a little bit of my civilization from when I was sixteen. I took another gulp and strode slowly and meticulously toward it. My heart was beating frantically against my chest when I moved to the second door of the cylindrical enclosure and stepped a foot. I felt my b*dy shudder at the effect.
“You gonna go in already? Or are you gonna keep testing it?” A impatient voice spoke from behind.
“I’m sorry.” I apologized without looking to see who it belonged to. Honestly I don’t want to make a fool of myself in the presence of all the people in and out of the revolving doors. Slowly and carefully I stepped into the revolving door and lost my balance but two pairs of strong hands. caught me.
“Careful there, Miss,” said a deep calm male voice. I looked over my shoulders and saw a tall sturdy looking man with a good low haircut coupled with a tiny bit of stubble under his chin. He was good-looking and his cheekbones were a little bit evident rounding up to his square face.
He smiled at me while keeping me from falling. There was a hint of amusement in his eyes and I couldn’t help but wonder if he saw through me that it was my first time going through this kind of door? His cream polo accentuated his already considerable height and well built physique coupled with his black pants.
“Thank you,” I said and swallowed, taking my eyes off him, and focused on the revolving doors with my hands pressed against the railing.
“You don’t need to press your hands on this,” he channeled his eyes to the railing. “Also let go of your fear and let the doors take you to where you take off….by the way, where are you exiting?”
“At the phone accessories,” I carefully answered with my gaze directed to the interior of the mall, the high spiral ceiling to the spiraling staircase that led upstairs down to the marble floor. I saw

people moving about, the mall was a busy one and I couldn’t help but feel a little bit insecure. They must’ve be raining in this mall everyday, whereas me, at 23 years old…..it was my first time coming
here.
The man behind me, though didn’t show it, I know he already knew it was my first time coming here from the way I kept twitching.
“You said phone accessories, didn’t you?” His voice pulled me from my little trance.
“Huh?” I looked at him and nodded.
“There’s the phone accessories section.” He directed his eyes to a section where phones were displayed.
“Oh, thanks.” I said and waited for the door to roll in that direction so I could get off. I almost crashed it with another door when I attempted to exit but he was quick to pull me back, his strong hands wrapped around my small waist as he pulled me to him, my back crashing on his solid b*dy. I gulped hard, resisting hard not to look at him. I immediately pulled away from him.
“Careful there, you don’t want those merciless doors to split you half. His voice teased but I didn’t turn to see the look in his hazel eyes.
“Thanks.” I hurriedly left the revolving doors the moment it rotated toward the phone accessories section. I let out a whiff of air and proceeded toward to the counter displayed with various phones. and when I looked behind me, the man was going to the opposite direction. The mall was very large, carrying both soft and strong scents from the merchandise all around. The scent of phones. wafted the air as I draw near.
I stared at the beautiful phones on display. I had saved a little bit of money when I was caged in my
father’s house, from the ment I approached puberty. In high school…..that was my level of
education, my father saw it as a huge waste of time to spend money on me when I couldn’t do the one thing every first daughter of the four clans did. And I had hid it away where my stepmother and half sister wouldn’t notice it. It was like I knew a day was coming when everything would be stripped from me.
“May I help you, ma’am?” The voice of a phone attendant jarred my mind back. She was dressed in a fine suit and blouse that complimented her small b*dy. Her hair was rolled in bun while smiling sweetly at me.
“Uh…..” I mouthed, not knowing how to put my request. I haven’t really communicated with an outsider except my family. “I want to purchase a phone.”
“Alright, what model would you like?”
I directed my focus on the phones, admiring the beautiful electronics and the amazing themes displaying on the screens. A couple of minutes past when I returned my gaze to the phone attendant. “Actually I have no idea, I just want a good phone and……
I was compelled to add that this was my first phone but instead bit the words back.

“Alright, hold on a sec.” She smiled sweetly and lowered to the glass showcase filled with varieties. of phone.
“Rumors have it that he’s remarried again,” said a female voice from the end corner, behind the counter. She was dressed in the same suit as the attendant attending to me. Her brown hair was tied up in a high ponytail, matching her crisp brown skin. She was conversing with another attendant with light skin.
“Wonder who is the unlucky woman,” the light skin girl inserted.
“Right? I’m certain she’d end up like the other women he ever married and I couldn’t help but imagine what happened to them. Who would give out their precious daughters to a man like him?”
It wasn’t my intention to eavesdrop but I couldn’t help it and without being told, I knew they were. referring to Lee Otto Fraser. My chest constricted knowing my father sold me off to him and lowered my worth to a land.
“I don’t know who the woman is but I already feel sorry for her.” The brown skin attendan prompted. “I can’t imagine being married to him. He’s cold and ruthless, treats people like they are nothing. Like they’re rags.
“But he’s still a good catch plus he has the looks, has the physique.” The light skin attendant winked. and giggled. “Every woman would want him.”
“Yeah if he was at least a little bit humane.” The first girl contorted her face a bit. Frowning. “Any one bargaining with him is bargaining with the devil and you know one can’t bargain with the devil.”
“Your words sound like you had done something with him one on one…..tell me, what’s going on?”
“That’s it….
I was too focused on the two phone attendants gossiping with my husband’s name that I wasn’t aware of the phone attendant signaling my attention. I immediately regained myself and my focus from them when the first girl’s eyes captured mine.

“Sorry, I didnt hear you calling,” a small smile lit up my l*ps as she placed a phone in front of me. She had already unwrapped it from its pack, showing me the model.
“This is Samsung Galaxy z fl*ps. Has a good ram and rom.” She went on to explain more about the phone but I was more invested in the other two attendants.
“I can’t imagine being married to him talk more of my father giving me out to him.” The brown skin girl shook her b*dy in demonstration. Showing clearly on her face, the thought alone despised her. If only they knew I was the girl.
“How much?” I asked, not wanting to indulge myself in their conversation because I could already see myself pity taking over. I am worthless and of no use. I had tried to please my father, I had tried.
to gain his love but it never happened, he still looked at me like I’m some mistake.

Chapter 6
“$1,300 ma’am……” I almost caught myself gasping when that price flew out of her mouth.
I unzipped the shabby little black purse in my grip and counted the money in the there. It wasn’t up to $370 because I thought I would get a phone of $300 and the phone she was showing was at good one. Simple yet nice.
Do you guys offer discounts?” I asked out of curiosity.
“Yes but to regular and esteemed customers.
I bit my lower l*p, not knowing what else to say. I have no money on me and walking away without purchasing a thing would be embarrassing for me.
Do you have a phone that’s worth $300?”
Yes, hold on but it differs from this and it might not do what this does. She explained but the thing is I have no more cash on me and if I request installation by bits, where would I get the money?
“Sis?” A voice called me from behind. I turned around and met Maya and Jaden, her arm was linked in his and my heart made a sudden jump when my gaze rested on them. Maya was dressed in an orange flowing off the knee length dress. She looked more prettier. “What are you doing here?”
I bit my l*ps, ignoring her arm linked with Jaden’s and avoiding Jaden’s eyes.
“Ah, silly me,” she added. “Sorry for asking you such a silly question. Of course you are here to purchase a phone. She chuckled but her chuckle sounded more of a mocking cackle.
“Ma’am, here’s the one of $800,” the attendant straightened and placed the phone on the counter. 1 saw the way Maya looked at me and to the phone. She always harbored a mocking condensing look across her face whenever she saw me.
“Wonder how you could afford this,” she snickered. “You didn’t… you know your husband’s money already?” I wondered what she meant but I saw Jaden nudge her a little.
“Sorry,” she cackled again. “Didn’t know when that spewed out of my mouth. Also is Otto here?” She darted her eyes around the bustling mall. “Or are you here alone?”
“I’m here….alone.” I whimpered under my breath, audible enough for her to hear.
“Oh,” was the only words that came out of her mouth before going for the first phone the attendant showed me. “How much is this?” She twirled the phone in her hand, removing her linked arm from Jaden’s.
“$1,300,” the attendant replied.
“Just 1,300,” Maya said in a condensing tone and fixed her eyes on me. “Sis. You can’t afford this while being the wife of the richest guy in town?”
She mocked. Every of her words were slithering, cutting into my skin and honestly speaking, I

couldn’t bring myself to answer. I didn’t know what to say. My eyes mistakenly darted to Jaden, he had been standing there and never uttered a word. Only if I had my wolf, I’d be one beside him. My arm would be the one linked to his.
“Are you buying that?” A man walked up to us. Referring to the phone in Maya’s grip. If not, I’d like to purchase that.” And it was no other than the guy I bumped into in the revolving doors.
“I’m not. She’s the one purchasing it.” Maya pointed at me.
His gaze flew at me at once. “You buying this?”
I shook my head. Too pale to speak. I was hoping the ground would open and suck me up. Whenever Maya was around, I always felt like nothing compared to her. I always questioned my worth.
“I take this.” He took the phone from Maya and pulled out a black card, giving both to the attendant. The attendant swiped his card and packaged the phone.
“Oh no need to do that,” he smiled at the attendant. “Give me the phone.”
“Here,” he turned to me and shoved the phone in my direction. Smiling sweetly. “It’s yours.”
“What?”
