Married To The Cursed Lycan King by JaneChunli

Chapter 11

Chapter 11

Aurora’s Pov:

“Hey. Calm down. It’s me.. Otto,” came a very low deep voice.

“Otto?” My voice fell into a whisper when I snapped out of my sleepy state. My eyes were now wide open and I met the startled ones of the man before me. Those eyes had terrified me once but right now, it was stretched with surprise and a little bit of worry in them. I gulped and shifted my

y eyes from him to the room, it dawned on me that it was my room and I was on the bed but how? What was he doing in my room? I don’t know why I find it a little bit suspicious, the last time I fell asleep.

the floor of my room only to open my eyes the next morning and see myself on the bed.

on

As far as I know I don’t sleepwalk or sleep whatever title that has been attached to it. My vision was a bit still hazy and suddenly felt a spinning headache. I knew I was forgetting something, a memory was laid deep in my head but what was the memory? Also……. I drew my eyes to him and the startled look in his eyes had vanished, replaced with a soft look. His eyes? Why do they remind me of that… that……

“Why didn’t you scream?” His calm voice asked, almost to the point it reduced the tension I was feeling within me. Eyes fixed on him, the vague memory began to clear. Was I asleep all this while and that creature, it felt so real and its eyes looked so dull and soulless just like the man before me. His eyes were intense but it was very impassive. No matter how many times I tried to read his expression, it was hellishly difficult. Each time he was near me, I always felt terrified and the need. to run but at the same time when he looks at me with that softness in his eyes or when he speaks up, it transcends something different in me.

I remained quiet, although the tension I was feeling had reduced to a height yet I could feel my b*dy writhe under the heavy sheets.

“You won’t talk or you choose not to talk?” He queried again and if I wasn’t mistaken. I heard a growing impatience in his voice. “I ask again, why did you scream and yanked me almost to the ground?”

His question wasn’t my concern, the fact he was here was my concern. Didn’t he

say we should maintain a good quality distance? Not only did he come to find me by himself the other day, he’s also here in my room.

“Why are you here?” I was surprised at myself for asking that question. I have never been allowed to ask the other party questions, I wouldn’t dare. My stepmother and her daughter ignited that fear of asking the other questions. I’m to be asked but never to ask back.

The moment I realized the question that I asked. I immediately pulled myself upright to ask for forgiveness. “I’m sorry……” I trailed off when a low dark glint flickered in his eyes, shutting me up immediately. “I apologize for asking you such a question.”

I was sold off to him in the name of marriage. Our marriage was based on a contract. To him, I am merely a property purchased. He said so last night.

Chapter 11

“Why are you apologizing?” He arched a brow inquisitively. Throwing me an assiduous look.

Honestly, I have no idea why I was apologizing. I was already used to it. It has become a part and parcel of me. “For….asking…that… My voice deflated into a whisper.

“Why would you apologize after asking me a question?” I couldn’t tell if he was asking because he wanted to know. I lifted my eyes glued on the sheets and looked at him. His face and eyes were devoid.

I thought it’d come off as a rude question to you.” I answered. My heart slowly picked race as his gaze held mine. I waited for him to say another word but no words came off his mouth, instead he gave me a plain blank pointed look. Silence crept between us, making me a little bit uncomfortable, I twitched under the sheets praying earnestly he’d break the silence.

He wasn’t doing it. The silence began to stretch so as his gaze too, the only sound I could hear was the sound of my thumping heart and chirps from birds outside the windows. The silence went on and I figured out he wouldn’t speak so I had to break it off to ease the tense atmosphere.

“Why are you here?” I repeated again, sitting put as I waited for his response.

He let out a sigh and tilted his head. “Thought you wouldn’t speak up. I was actually getting entertained by your silent treatment.”

My brows were pulled at his assertion. What did he mean by that? I brushed it off and trailed my gaze down his clothing. His pecs were always evident in whatever cloth he wore, the silhouette of his abs lay bare underneath the black polo he wore coupled with his jogger pants. He was intimidatingly tall and very well built. I felt something stir within me causing me to pull my gaze from him. Till now, it’s hard for me to believe he’s my husband. I’m technically bound to him by marriage.

“And for the answer of your question.” He added. “I made it pretty clear I’m irritated by sound, even by the littlest sound, especially the sound of your breath.”

“Was I snoring?” The question escaped my mouth. And the moment that question left my l*ps, I immediately regretted it. When I married him, I vowed to myself to stay pretty clear from him. To make sure I wasn’t in his sight and he wasn’t in me but now……

His eyes were impassive but I was able to detect a little amusement in them, the corners of his l*ps stretched a little, a suppressed smile lit up on them. Was my question that ridiculous he rather found it hilarious. But he didn’t answer my question, he gave me a long stare before turning away from me toward the exit. I watched his broad shoulders in sync with his perfect b*dy almost made it out of my room.

Did he come in just to tell me he is sensitive to any sound? Including my breath? I rather found this man strange and impossible to read. And watching him leave made me really question if I was actually married to him. I heard horrible stories about him but never believed I would one day end up being his wife.

As I gaped at his back, obscure images from last night started to flood my mind. I remember. I

remembered following a shadow. I remembered following that shadow but when I reached the exit. of the sitting room, that shadow wasn’t in sight anymore. It was as it vapored into the air. Then I saw one of the security guards approach me when I walked out to the outer space of the house.

Curiosity building in me.

“Is there a problem, ma’am?” The security man asked, holding his defense by his side. Truth be told, my heart did fl*p when I saw the gun attached to his belt hood. Being outside after a long time. everything looked strange and unfamiliar to me. Literally I was uncaged from that house the moment Otto Fraser gave in to my father’s proposition.

I darted my eyes to every corner of the house illuminated by magnificent lights, in hopes to catch a glimpse of that shadow but I saw no one not until I felt something speed off like a speed of light from the corners of my eyes. Curiosity was rising to its peak within me as I started toward that direction but a hand suddenly clasped my wrist. I spun and saw the security’s hand on mine.

“Is something wrong, ma’am?”

“Did you see that?” I pointed toward the direction where I witnessed that swift movement. Returning my gaze there as well.

Saw what?” He released his hold on me and directed his attention to where my finger was pointed.

“I think I saw someone. In black hooded cloak.”

“I see no one, ma’am. You must have been mistaken because I and the rest are out here and we saw

no one.”

“I’m certain I saw that figure. I know what I saw…..that person….he or she was in the house.” I tried” to sound convincing but the look the security gave me was a bit odd. For a moment I thought I was hallucinating. I wanted to argue more but it was pointless. Especially when it clearly stated on his face that he didn’t believe a word of mine. I chewed on my lower l*ps, feeling double minded and sure at the same time.

Did I really see a figure clothed in black hooded cloak or was it just my imagination because of the dimmed hallway lights?

I looked at the security. Feeling the notion to go against my instincts and prove what I saw was real but it would be fruitless…….

“Also……why don’t you make use of the bed given to you?” My memories were impeded when Otto asked. “Or do you enjoy sleeping on the floor every night?”

How did he know? I furrowed a brow inquisitively and as if he caught on by the expression on my face. He added. “I told you, I hear the faintest sound including your breath.”

Was it his ability as the most feared, influential and respected lycan

At this moment I watched the man before me. He didn’t fit in with the title “devil” given to him. So

why would everyone seem terrified by him?

I’m used to the floor.” I said.

“Used?” His eyes brows twitched and I expected he might pressed further, asking me why but he didn’t. He just gave a nod and turned to leave again but halted. “Just make sure your sensitive to cold. I dislike anyone getting sick under my roof.

He turned and left.

b*dy isn’t

I scrambled out of the bed, my b*dy quivered a little when my feet touched the cold floor. I walked into the toilet and did my business and made my way to the kitchen.

Good morning Ma’am, how was your night?” The young elderly woman who is the butler with an apron tied over her clothing greeted me with a smile. I couldn’t resist the patriotizing inviting smile across her face and smiled back. “Do you need something, ma’am?”

She’s old enough to be my mother. My mom would be around her age if she was still alive. “My name is Aurora so please call me Aurora and not ma’am.”

It looked like she wanted to protest but bit the words back. “I’m Malena, call me Malena.”

I nodded while returning the sweet smile on her face.

“So do you need help with anything, ma’am…..Aurora I mean,” she corrected immediately.

“I’d like to help you with what you are cooking.” I narrowed my gaze to the ingredients and other stuff used in making a dish on the exotic luxurious kitchen counters.

“No ma’am….I mean Aurora. It’s my not not yours to worry about. I’m the butler…..”

“I know but let me help out. Besides, the food you are making is for my husband, I’d like to help. with it.”

After severe persuading from my side, she finally gave in. We prepared light foods for breakfast.

“Sir, your wife was the one who made the dishes?” We set the food on the dining table where Otto was already seated. His gaze flew instantly at me when the female butler made that remark.

A nervous smile appeared on my face when his eyes flew at me. Afraid and half expected him to leave heart–wrenching remarks like my half sister and her mother always did whenever I served them any course of meal but his words rather froze me on the spot.

“Have a bite, first. He urged with his eyes.
