Married To My Dearest Enemy by Jared Mandel

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

“No. I refuse.” Audrey rejected it in a firm tone.

Emma’s face turned cold when she heard Audrey’s refusal. “It’s not up to you. I have already talked to the Russell family. Whether you want to marry him or not, you have to marry.”

“I said, I’m not marrying him.” Audrey didn’t want to argue anymore. With that, she went straight to her room.

Emma’s angry voice came from behind. “Audrey, listen. You have no choice but to accept this marriage proposal! You must marry him! Also, you’re coming with me to meet his parents tomorrow afternoon! Do you hear me?”

With a bang, Audrey closed the door, shutting out Emma’s voice.

After closing the door, Audrey slid down along the door and weakly sat on the floor.

During this period of time, no matter what happened, she could ignore it. But unfortunately, she encountered Tyler.

She didn’t know if he genuinely didn’t know that it was her that he was going on a blind date with, or if he knew it was her and deliberately came to see her in such a sorry state.

Regardless of the possibility, Audrey didn’t want to have any relationship with Tyler. However, because of his sudden appearance, she couldn’t fall asleep that night no matter how hard she tried.

Early the next day, Audrey was called by her manager with a phone call, saying that all the private rooms she was in charge of last night had received complaints.

Due to these complaints, Audrey had nearly half a month’s salary deducted.

“Audrey, the large private room is short–staffed. Go and help out.”

Audrey responded and put down the cup she hadn’t had a chance to fill with water, heading toward the private room.

“Oh, isn’t this Audrey?” As soon as Audrey pushed open the door to the private room, she heard a sarcastic voice, and everyone at the table, therefore, looked at Audrey.

Audrey finally saw clearly that these people were her former classmates.

“Oh, it’s Miss Griffin. Long time no see. I heard that the Griffin family went bankrupt. I guess that’s why you became a waitress. But being a waitress is such a lowly job, isn’t it? Miss Griffin, why don’t you just lie down on those old men’s beds? Their money will

“Body, why don’t you have a drink with us today? I can help you find a decent job man said, leaning closer to Andreys. “Or maybe spend a night with me. How much would that COST?”

This man had always been interested in Audrey, but back then, she was so arrogant that no one dared to approach her. Now, however, she was no longer the dignised eldest daughter of the Griffin family, and she was doing such a lowly job. He wouldn’t miss such a good opportunity.

Audrey initially thought of just enduring it and letting it go. She felt like she was walking on thin ice and didn’t want to get entangled with these irrelevant people. But it was clear that the other party wasn’t planning to let her go.

Just as she was considering whether to strike the person in front of her on the head or

Hearing this voice, Audrey was startled, as if someone had held her heart, causing her to pause her breath.

It wasn’t until the man walked over and placed his hand on her shoulder that Audrey snapped back to reality., She then felt embarrassed and wanted to escape, but the man held her tightly. She couldn’t break free.

The man was dressed in a suit, with a cold expression as he looked at the man who had spoken earlier. “No matter how much she asks for, you can afford it, right?”

“Tyler… Tyler Russell?” The man looked in fear at Tyler holding Audrey, stumbling over

his words.

Tyler’s gaze shifted to another person. “You think lying on the bed will bring you money? Why don’t you give it a try?”

The woman who said those words earlier looked embarrassed.

Tyler calmly said, “You were right about one thing earlier. she is indeed embarrassed. right now.”

He paused and then chuckled. “But she’s embarrassed because of you guys, not herself.”

Audrey was completely stunned. ‘He heard all those words earlier?‘ she wondered. “But why is he here? And why is he helping me?”

As Audrey was speculating anxiously about the man’s intentions, she heard his gentle. voice in her ear. “Didn’t we agree to meet my parents today and discuss our marriage? Why did you hide here? Are you shy or nervous?”

To Audrey, Tyler’s words seemed even more intimidating than the others‘ mocking and insults previously.

The others were also shocked as if they had heard something horrifying. They all stared at Audrey with wide eyes.

Ignoring everyone’s reactions, including Audrey’s, Tyler gently took her hand and said, “My parents have already arrived. Let’s go.”

The two of them walked out under the astonished gazes of the crowd.

When Audrey finally snapped out of her daze, they were already in another private room. She looked at the person sitting in the chair. Her voice was somewhat hoarse as she stuttered, “What… what are you doing here?”

Tyler stared at Audrey with his deep eyes for a few seconds before saying, “Meeting the parents of my blind date.”

Audrey was taken aback. ‘Meeting the parents of his blind date?‘ she murmured inwardly. ‘Is he going on blind dates with other people?

She then heard him say, “Did you think I was just helping you out in front of those people earlier?”

Audrey blurted out, “Wasn’t that what you were doing?”

“No, I was stating the facts.” Tyler glanced at his watch. “They must have…”

Before Tyler could finish his sentence, Audrey’s phone rang. It was her mother calling.

Audrey answered the call. “Mom?”

“We’ve already arrived. Where are you?”

“What?” Audrey was confused.

“When you left this morning, didn’t I tell you that we were going to meet your blind date’s parents today? We’re all here waiting for you. Hurry up and come over.”

After hearing Emma’s words, Audrey glanced at the man sitting in the chair. “I already told you last night that I wouldn’t…”

“Audrey, don’t forget that your grandmother is still hospitalized. We don’t have money to pay for her expensive surgery. If you want to let her wait for her death in the hospital, then don’t bother coming.”

With that, Emma hung up.

Audrey held the phone, her face looking embarrassed. The surgery for her grandmother cost at least 200 thousand dollars, but she couldn’t even afford 20 thousand dollars right now.

Joseph and Emma thought that they didn’t need to waste their money on an old person,

especially someone who was dying. While the Griffin family was still rich, they could still afford the medical expenses. Now that they were in trouble, they just abandoned Audrey’s grandmother completely.

Audrey took a deep breath and looked up at Tyler. “Do you really want to marry me?”
