More than ten minutes later, Jeremy and Madeline arrived at the lobby of Ava’s apartment.

quickly remembered why. “Maddie, were you worried about me so that’s why you came all the way here in the middle of the night
to see if I’m alright?”
Madeline looked at the woman next to Ava and nodded.
“You sounded strange on the phone just now, so I was worried that something had happened. That’s why I came over,” Madeline
explained before smiling at the woman. “Hello, Mrs. Long.”
The woman stood up and showed Madeline a friendly smile.
