Chapter 2065
It seemed like Serenity did not get her mother-in-law’s hint. She smiled and said, “Oh, that’s true. Anyone who meets Sonny will
like him.
“Everyone at FC Manor adores Sonny too. Old Mrs. Johnson was sad when I had to bring him back.”
Serenity walked into the house while holding her mother-in-law’s arm.
Tania laughed. She said, “Old Mrs. Johnson will miss Sonny, but your nana misses the Johnson family’s baby girl. She even
wished she could’ve stolen the baby girl back.”
“You’re right. Nana had her eyes fixed on Chloe once she saw her. She could sit by the crib all day and not feel bored.”
Tania grinned. “If it were me, I’d be like your nana. I won’t get bored looking at the baby all day.”
The York family, mostly made up of men, liked daughters. It was not only Grandma May who had their eyes fixed and their legs
pinned whenever they saw someone else’s baby girl.
“If you’re bored at home, you can go to the city to have fun or move in with us. It’s merrier with more people around.”
Tania said, “I’ll pass. Liam and I are old. We feel comfortable staying in the manor.”
Absence made the heart grow fonder. It was better for the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law to keep a distance.
Besides, they had their own place. Their family owned many houses.
Tania would never request to live with her son and daughter-in-law.
Moreover, she still had two younger sons. If she were to live with her eldest son and daughter-in-law, her two younger sons
would have to move into their brother’s house to accompany their parents as well. Even if the brothers had a close relationship
and Serenity was a generous sister-in-law, it still could not compare to the comfort of living in their own house.
It was essential to learn how to keep a distance between people.
Their current arrangement was good enough.
Zachary and Serenity would come over to spend the weekend every once in a while.
When Tania’s other sons returned, they could feel the freedom of being in their own house as well.
“I just miss Sonny a lot. How’s he coping with preschool?”
The mother and daughter-in-law chatted as they walked. Tania mostly talked about Sonny.
There was no helping it. Among the younger generation, only Liberty had a child.
“Sonny found it fun at first and was willing to go to preschool. He’d talk non-stop after returning from school every day. However,
his enthusiasm diminished after the excitement passed. Now, it takes quite some time to wake him up for school every day.”
Tania smiled and said, “Most children are like that. Zack was an exception.”
She became chatty upon mentioning Zack’s younger days. She said, “Other people’s children would refuse to wake up, but Zack
would wake up early and wait in front of our room for us to send him to preschool.
“If it were the nanny taking him to school, he would wait outside her door. We even got startled sometimes when we walked out
and saw him carrying his bag and standing there.
“We often told him he didn’t have to wake up so early. He could just sleep without a worry, and we would’ve woken him up when
it was time. However, he refused to listen or change. After that, whoever was tasked to bring him to school the next day would go
to sleep early in the night and wake up early the next day.”
Serenity said with a smile, “It seems like Zachary has been a disciplined person since he was young.”
It turned out that Zachary’s habit of waking up early had developed since he was a child.
Serenity thought her husband had a great habit, unlike her cousin. Her cousin required her father and brothers to carry her
downstairs into the car, and she had to be sent to preschool by force.
She could not help but laugh when she imagined the scene.
“Dad.”
Serenity greeted her father-in-law when she saw him reading the newspaper on the sofa.
Liam shifted his gaze from the newspaper and smiled. “You’re back.”
“Mm.”
Serenity let go of her mother-in-law’s arm and sat on the single-seater.
Tania said, “I knew you two were coming back, so I told the kitchen to cook a few of both your favorite dishes. I’ll go and check
on the preparations.”
After speaking, she went to the kitchen.
