Chapter 5, The Dark Testament
“Gramps thats great and all, but thats not exactly what my question was.” Tim said as Tom finished his coffee.
“Go right ahead.” Tom said
“What is the dark testament?” Tim asked, Tom then sat up and looked at Tim with a serious look.
“What are you talking about?” Tom asked, Tim suddenly felt the massive change in tone and shift in atmosphere and quickly went to grab the book his grandfather had brought with him.
“This book here, Its called the dark testament.” Tim said, Tom got up shaken as he looked at the book and then to Tim.
“You can read that?” Tom said as Tim nodded.
“Tim...There are only 3 people in the entire universe, who I know that can read this. How are you able to?” Tom asked
“I just can.” Tim said, Tom thought to himself before sitting down on the couch. Tom had searched all over the universe for someone to even remotely read the dark testament fully, but now he had someone. His own blood.
“What does it say inside?” Tom asked eager and practically on the edge of his seat.
“It says...” Tim squinted his eyes as the words within the book on the first page began to morph into something he could read. Tim’s emerald eyes clashed with the rotten blood red of the words on the pages, the book look and felt ancient.
“One day the Dark One will return, he will return with his hive of unkept evil and have them ravage the universe to pieces only so that he can then reshape the universe in his own image, his own sick and twisted image.” Tim said, he knew what he was reading was deiminated and horrifying, but that also sounded metal as hell. Tom’s hands rested on his chin as he looked at the ground and then up towards the moon.
“Uhh gramps, there’s more in case you want me to keep going.” Tim asked when then Tom got up and rushed to the front door.
“Come along Tim, the others need to hear about this!” Tom said as he rushed out the door. Tim stuttered on his words as he then grabbed his backpack and the book about the moon and put both the dark testament and the moon book in his backpack. However right before he left, he stuttered on his way out the door remembering Danny. He rushed back inside. Tom was waiting inside of his car tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, he then honked the horn.
“I’m coming!” Tim shouted as he stumbled out of the house and put his shoes on. He then locked the door and rushed into the passenger seat putting his seatbelt on.
“What took ya?” Tom asked
“Couldn’t leave Danny there, so I made him a snack and turned on the TV.” Tim said as he then fixed his hair a bit. Tom then shuffled Tim’s hair ruining what he had just fixed.
“HEY!?” Tim shouted
“You really are your mother’s son. Lets go.” Tim said as he then backed out of the driveway and began to drive him and Tim to the park he likes to go to.
“Hey gramps, not that I’m not aware of how crazy this is, but will be back in time for school tomorrow?” Tim asked
“Don’t worry I’ll send a message to your folks letting them know we’re gonna go on a little adventure.” Tom smiled as he then parked the car at his favorite park. Tim took a deep breath and unbuckled his seat belt. The two got out of the car and then Tim followed Tom through the park till they reached his favorite spot. Tim and Tom then stood in front of it.
“So...What happens-”
“Beatrice, send me up” Tom said
“Whoes-” but before Tim could say anything he would be sent spiraling through the universe, as they went flying through the universe, Tim spotted a giant cluster of galaxies in the far distance and watched in shock as they blipped in and out of existence seamlessly. His eyes then adjusted to see that those galaxies were in fact glistens in the eye of a giant creature. However, before he observe it any longer, he and Tom would arrive. Tom would look around ecstatic, however Tim had landed in a nearby pool of an unknown liquid substance.
“Awww man my laptop.” Tim groaned as he got out of the “watery” like pool. Tim’s eyes then widened as he saw it all. On this planet he could look out into the universe clearly. It was all over, yet none of it he could understand. His place in the whole thing completely meaningless as he came face to face with the eye from space once again. He saw then as it turned around to reveal itself as a giant jellyfish. This thing was unreal, unnatural and yet when Tim looked at it in space. It looked like it belonged. Tom put his hand on his grandson’s shoulder and patted it.
“What is it?” Tim asked
“Thats Euba, it’s sole purpose being to keep the galaxies within this universe spinning and governs over them.” Tom said as Tim continued to look in curiosity and amazement.
“Tom! your back.” shouted Beatrice in joy as she ran over toward him, Tom and her hugged one another. Tim looked at Beatrice in shock at her beauty.
“You must be Tom’s...uhhh” Beatrice stuttered as she had no idea who Tim was.
“This is my grandson Tim, Speaking of. Tim do you have it?” Tom asked as Tim then got the dark testament out of his backpack, when he did Beatrice moved back in shock and fear.
“T-Tom where in name of spin did you get that?! Thats meant to be in the tower of Hurazu." Beatrice said
"Yes...I took it a long time ago. I was curious on its contents...but i couldn't read it." Tom said
"Of course not, none can read that book." Beatrice said
"I can read it. It's called the dark testament, thats what it says on the front." Tim said
"You can what-"
"Thats why we're here, wheres Gambur? With this he may be able to decipher and tell us more about the Dark One from it's contents while Tim reads it to him." Tom said, Beatrice nodded her head and began to lead the two to the tower, Tim looked out again towards Euba, he watched as the large jellyfish then created massive tesseract like cube that it then began to morph and bend. Tim was baffled, but then he reached the tower. He looked up at it and saw its size.
"Woah" Tim said, Beatrice smiled as she opened the doors, once they entered Tim was takeback from all that he saw, he dropped his backpack and looked around at everything. He was amazed and yet wanted to touch and know everything.
"Children aren't allowed inside the tower little one, Get out." said a looming voice, Tim turned around to see Gambur sitting down on the floor near a bookshelf where hundreds of books were scattered around him, and the fairies were sitting around him. Holoo was making paper airplanes and origami while Fen was dusting the bookshelves and Utela was reading books with Gambur.
"Oh well I actually was brought here by my grandfather," Tim said, Gambur looked up and then saw Beatrice and Tom come over.
"Oh good your back, with good news I hope." Gambur said
"Well yea actually. My grandson here Tim can read this." Tom said as he showed Gambur the dark testament. Gambur got up immediately and walked over grabbing the book.
"My ancestors and myself have tried for eons to try and decipher these books. Your saying this young man can read them?" Gambur asked
"Yup, he says it's called the dark testament." Tom said, Gambur then snapped his wooden fingers and the fairies then made they're way to him.
"Lets head to my observatory. Euda is getting ready to cleanse the galaxy." Gambur said as everyone followed him.
"That jellyfish can do that?" Tim asked
"Euda? of course, It is the one that governs over all galaxies within this universe only challenged by one other, but its been held captive by the fairies since the Dark One was pushed out of here by Evela herself. It helps with keeping galaxies ripe and fights off most antagonistic forces that wish to destroy them." Gambur said
"What about the moon from our galaxy? thats a bad guy right?" Tim asked
"The Moon? it's a part of the way of the universe, no point in attacking it for doing what it does." Gambur said, Tim looked back at Tom and he shrugged. Everyone eventually got back to the observatory.
"Now then, read to me its contents and I'll write down all thats inside." Gambur said as he got a piece of paper and a thing similar to a "pencil".
"This thing is like 300-" but Tim looked at Gambur and saw his blank face.
"Right, ok here I go." Tim said as he started reading what was within the dark testament.
The Dark testament entails of the Dark One's return, it speaks of how he will reawaken his old legion and align others to attack those he finds as threats to his plan.
It speaks of the Dark One and how his presence is unreal compared to the universe, how he once was able to bend the unreal and real. How he could manipulate even the most righteous of souls to aid him, how he could destroy whole worlds and how was a threat to mankind and all civilizations to this universe and others. How it depicts the Dark One as a abstract thing and how he was the monad of all thing wicked and vile. The Dark One is described as a evil thing, a giant shadow with the head in the shape of a crown and a skull on the outside. His darkness infects the universe even in his banishment and removal from the universe his influence is still felt.
The dark testament and many others like it were written by his highest generals as a way for his presence to still be remembered by others. For through the books his malice and evil influence can be felt seeping into the world like a virus. His unbound evil still uncontested by anyone. It speaks of how he is the most malevolent force the universe had ever seen. He feasts on the negative and evil thoughts of all and even those things that circumvent those same things.
It's said when he was "born" that he was capable of killing and enslaving the oldest of gods and manipulating lesser ones to do his bidding.
These words however do no justice to the true power of the Dark One.
"Wow, this guy is hardcore, no way this is real." Tim said
"Oh the Dark One is very much real, he fought against Evela and her fairies for many lifetimes, he would have succeeded in defeating her and taking over the universe too if it wasn't for one person. The hero, he stopped him from getting any further. Their fight nearly ripped apart the entire universe and threatened the natural order and balance of all across.
They're very shockwaves caused tremors in even the furthest universes that linger at the end of things. The war of Darkness was a horrible experience, but a war like no other." Gambur said as he finished writing. He got up and then used his powers to send the information he had gotten to others of his race and other intellects within the universe all across.
"How did you do that?" Beatrice asked
"Our minds are interlinked, technically my people should already know what I know. We share a hive mind sort of mental state, but I sent it to those who may not know this information. I need more time to decode and go over this.
For now you all should relax, I need to speak with my people." Gambur said as he waved his hand, and everyone left his observatory. Tim looked down at the dark testament and then to Tom who smiled and patted his back.
"You did good Tim, thank you so much." Tom said with a smile
"Its such a pleasure meeting Tom's grr-grandson. Yes that was the word. If you ever want to come here again, all you need to do is call to me." Beatrice said with a smile.
"Yea, its such a pleasure." said the fairies as they then gave Tim kisses on his face. He giggled as they then flew downstairs.
"Why do they do that?" Tim said as he rubbed his face.
"It's a good luck charm, fairies are ancient. They are known as the universe's good luck givers. Just being in the presence of one can give someone undreamt of confidence and make someone's day. They also are great cooks. Don't tell your grandmother I said that though." Tom chuckled getting a laugh out of everyone.
"Theres so much more I want to know, where can do I even start." Tim said
"How about we start downstairs, I've made some food, but Gambur doesn't eat. How about we discus some stuff while we dig in?" Beatrice said with a smile as she hurried down the stairs. Tom shrugged and followed. Tim had completely forgotten he had school, but at this moment. He didn't care.
