Making Her Remember(TTS#1)

Chapter 1

Ember’s POV

“Good morning Ems,” my boyfriend, Richard spoke on the phone. We have been together for 3 years now. Threebeautiful years, Not. He was manipulative, demanding and most of all conceited son of a bitch. He has been cheating on me for so long, I even caught him on the act, confronted him but he said that ‘Baby, she jumped on me. I tried to tell her that I was with you but I guess she couldn’t resist my charms.’ This jerk.

That fucker wouldn’t even let me break up with him. Every time I say that I want a break up, he says, ‘Baby I know you need space. I will give you some and talk to you tomorrow.’ and just like that, that dick, always ends our conversation and gets the satisfaction of having the last word, as if he is the man. But in reality he is just a fucking coward who can’t handle the truth that I don’t want to be with him.

I don’t even know why the hell I am with him. I loathe him so much that what he thinks is his husky and seductive voice, gives me headaches. And not to mention his sexual advances towards me. Thank god for self-defence classes, I always dodge his advances. Most of the time he is drunk, to which I am grateful for because the next day he doesn’t remember that I kicked his balls and just thinks that some bimbo gave him a good head.

So here we are again, him making my ears think that they should just go deaf after hearing his pathetic voice. I really am sorry, dear ears. I should have checked the caller ID before picking up the phone.

“What do you want?” I groaned and hit my head on the table. At this point I don’t even care for the pain in my head, I just want to be free from him.

“I see your anger has not yet simmered. So I will just give you space for a couple more days and contact me after all you know that you still love me. Ciao.” he said and again hung up on me. I know this is only his excuse to do other women. But now I can finally do my work.

I work in the Reed Enterprises in the designing unit. Reed enterprises is a very big company and I am freaking glad I work here. Our boss, Crystal Reed is very humble and considerate but when she needs to be serious she is damn serious. I love working under her and I am inspired at how she operates with such precision and thinking.

As usual I was working on my desk, just outside her office, on the latest designs the top designers have sent us for us to sew, stitch and put them on models for the next fashion show. So far I have only selected 5 out of 30 and there are 40 more to go. These new designers, they don’t know shit about fashion. It looks as if some pesky 6 year old’s have made them. Maybe I should submit my work.

Hahaha, sure. If I want to be fired, yet again. I have learned the very hard way that one should not give their opinions because everyone thinks that they are superior than others.

“...fucking understand Crystal, I have to do th…” the voice got cut off when the door was closed. Huh, this is strange. There is a man that I haven’t seen anywhere in the company and from the looks of it he looked hot from the small opening and closing of the office door. Maybe he is her boyfriend. I mean, he looks hot and she is beautiful, they would look perfect together.

I shrugged and continued clicking and scrolling through the attachments in my mail.

“Ember Costello? Miss Crystal is calling you in her office.” Sofia, her personal assistant called on me. From the bits and pieces I followed from the heated conversation in her office, she sounded pissed and I don’t want to be on the receiving end. I quickly thought of the things I have done wrong in my 5 months of working here. Except breaking the coffee machine down, but it was not my fault. Okay, maybe it was. But in my defense I was having a complete breakdown when Richard yet again became the conceited jerk he is.

I knocked on her door and heard a ‘come in’. Let’s see if I will get fired.

“You called for me, Madam?” I said and gave a curt nod to the man standing beside her before straightening my back and folding her hands in front of my pencil skirt.

“Yes, Ember. We need to have a serious talk, which could change your life.” my blood ran cold. Shit, they know. So, being the most logical person that I am I started rambling off.

“I really am sorry. I didn’t know that a coffee machine was so important. I was not in my right mind and I broke it. I profusely apologize for that. Please don’t fire me. I will even buy you a new one. I can contact the compa-” I was cut off when the stranger started laughing so hard that he had to clutch his stomach. Even Crystal was giving me amused looks. I just looked at both of them in confusion.

“Umm, you are not going to fire me?” I asked, skeptically.

This broke Crystal’s barrier and she started laughing too, just like the man. I seriously need to know his name. When they both stopped they had tears in their eyes.

“And you wanted her to work under you, Brandy?” she asked, the stranger/Brandy, still chuckling. Now I was more confused.

“Sorry, Ember. But you are not fired, yet. But this division is being taken over by Brandon. And we would like you to be his personal assistant.” she said and my jaw dropped open. Personal assistant?

“P-Personal A-Assistant?” I voiced my thoughts and this time looked over at the stranger whose name is Brandon. He looked tall, like 6 feet tall. He had a hard jaw which was covered in slight stubble, he had broad shoulders and a muscular figure. He had brown chocolaty eyes with dirty blonde hairs which complimented his pink full lips. He looked hot. That navy blue suit he was wearing, did nothing to hide is bulging muscles. But he looked awfully familiar to me. Maybe I have seen him somewhere. Men like him ought to be on magazine covers.

“Yes, Ember,” the way he said my name brought shivers to my spine. The good kind. His voice was deep and husky, nothing like Richard. This is just wrong. He is her boyfriend or something more. “You see I don’t know anyone in this division and I have heard nothing but amazing things about you and the fact that you are familiar to everyone here.”

“But what about Miss Reed’s assistant?”

“She will be with me in the engineering department.” Crystal spat and gave a glare to Brandon. He looked mortified at that, hell even I was.

“Oh, okay. When do I have to start?” I asked them.

“Right now.” Brandon said and winked at me when Crystal wasn’t looking. The nerve of this guy. Who does he think he is? Hitting on another girl when he has a girlfriend.

I gave him a disgusted look and stormed out of the room. I will show him hell for ever thinking besides a wonderful woman like Crystal.

I quickly packed up my things and knocked on the office door again only for the shivers to return as Brandon said a ‘come in’ to me. I knew this much that PA’s are supposed to share a cabin with their bosses. So I walked up to my desk and started putting my things on it, while ignoring that jerk. I could feel the intensity in which he was looking at me and could practically feel the heat from it. I got frustrated and turned around to give him a piece of my mind. But instead I stumbled on my heel when I saw that he was standing right behind me. He quickly extended his arms and grabbed me by my waist to prevent my fall and pulled closer to him.

His face was so close to me that I could feel his warm breath on my lips. His gaze darkened when he noticed just how close we were.

“Sylvia.” he breathed and looked at me intensely. This broke the daze he casted on me and I scrambled out of his hold immediately.

Here I thought that he was just a jerk, but he had the audacity to call me some other girl’s name, even though he knew mine. I don’t know what I am angry at now. The fact that he was probably cheating on Crystal or the fact that he called me another girl’s name when he were in that embrace? I shook my head out of these thoughts.

He is taken, I shouldn’t have thoughts like this.

I made my way towards my desk and started typing frantically on my laptop, opening some e-mails and going through their attachments. From the corner of my eye I noticed that he still stood there but released a deep sigh and made way towards his desk, going through some paper work of his own.

The time dragged on with a certain tension in the room, which was suffocating me. Soon, lunch time rolled in and I heaved a deep sigh of relief and glanced at Brandon’s desk to see that it was empty.

Huh? When did he leave? Was I so engrossed in my work that I failed to notice his departure? Maybe I was.

I closed my tired eyes and leaned back a little. I heard some giggling in my ears. It sounded close yet so far and I opened my eyes to look around. I was still sitting on my chair and noticed that everything was silent. I stood up and looked outside and saw that every cubicle was empty. That is so weird. Where could everybody go? I noticed outside and still saw that it was daylight, so they couldn’t have gone home.

I stepped outside the office and walked in the empty corridor. I noticed movement in my peripheral vision and stepped back and saw a mirror, but what really shocked me was that I was staring at me but a different me. I had glasses, my hairs were tied in a bun and I was wearing clothes like a nerd. I looked down at my outfit and saw that I was still wearing my pencil skirt and white shirt with black heels.

I waved my hand in front of the mirror, and it copied me. What the hell is even happening?

“Who the hell even are you?” I asked myself.

“I am you, the real you.” my reflection replied with a smile and I gaped at her. Did she just speak? “No need to get shocked now.” she chuckled.

“Who are you?” I whispered and she stepped out of the mirror and I walked back, scared that she might hurt me.

“I am you. My name is Sylvia,” she said and put her hand on my shoulders and started shaking me wildly, “And you need to wake up, Ember.”

“Wake up, Ember. Open your eyes.” I heard faintly when darkness consumed me, but I was still shaking, or rather someone else was shaking me.

“Ember, wake up.” and I abruptly opened my eyes and jumped from my seat, only to collide into someone’s firm chest and fall back down on the chair, holding my head.

“Ow.” I groaned and rubbed the place on my head, which hit the brick wall. I looked up and noticed it was Brandon and his beautiful face was contorted into concern and worry lines etched his forehead.

“What? Where am I?” I asked and looked around the room and stood up and glanced outside and breathed a sigh of relief. The place was not empty. It was just a dream.

“Are you okay? You look as if you have seen a ghost.” he said and moved to stand in front of me.

“Did I feel asleep?” I asked, ignoring his previous question.

“Yeah. You slept for 2 hours.” he said with an amused glint in his eyes.

“Oh, shit. I am so sorry Sir. I promise it won’t happen again.” I apologized and looked down.

“It is okay, Ember. No need to worry about it.” he said and smiled at me, a smile that showed his cute dimples.

“No sir, I would take any sort of punishment. It will be unfair to the other staff members.” I countered. He thought for a while before he smirked and smiled mischievously at me. Shit, what have I done?

He walked towards me but I held my ground, I wasn’t going to let him intimidate me and cower back like those pathetic girls.

“Go on a date with me.”
