Make Me

Chapter Chapter THIRTY-FOUR

The Pink Panther was everything I expected it to be and more. People were all over the place by the time we arrived, dancing, and grinding against each other in the dim neon lights and flashes, as most everyone was already wasted. Jude led me through the crowd, holding me close so I don't get lost in the chaos, but I didn't feel unsafe or uncomfortable. The music was so loud it was resonating in my chest, but it wasn't awful, I let it rush through me. Distractions. That's what I came here for... and that's what I'll get.

As we successfully cut through the room to the bar, I quickly stepped away from Jude and sat down onto one of the tall chairs examining the glass shelves in front of us.

"What can I get you?" The bartender's eyes flickered between me and Jude with a friendly smile.

"I'll have whiskey, and Seth a... Mojito" I gaped at his decision, despite actually liking that cocktail, I gave him a short glare, and shook my head. With a swift motion, I put my elbows down on the counter and leaned in closer to the barista to make sure he heard me:

"I'll have a double-whiskey with ice" my correction earned a little bit of tension from the demon's side, especially because we both knew I couldn't hold my drink, but whatever. I didn't want him to order for me like that, I wasn't a child. Though, thinking of it, maybe you shouldn't order a Mojito for a child anyway...

"You don't even like whiskey"

"Don't tell me what I do and don't like" I snapped back when the bartender turned away to make our drinks. I felt like I'll melt under Jude's gaze, which suggested he was more than displeased with me, and though that made my stomach tighten in nervousness, I didn't let it get to me.

"Bratty much?" he asked without a hint of a smile on his quite firm expression.

"Shut your mouth, demon" I suppressed my satisfied grin, knowing how annoyed he will be at this totally uncalled for rudeness from my side, and kept up a straight face.

He cocked an eyebrow up in disbelief, and gently placed a finger under my chin, forcing me to look up at him from a more uncomfortable angle. I didn't dare to tear my head away, but this meant I had to oblige with the position which wasn't very... pleasurable for my neck.

For a few, but awfully long seconds he just locked eyes with me, with a look that told me to not turn my attention from him, despite him being silent, and to be perfectly honest, it wasn't hard to keep my gaze on him; Dark and handsome? No, not quite. He was wicked and beautiful if I'd had to describe his presence and appearance with adjectives that already exist. Eyes sharp like a razor, and inhumanly crimson, as if they were rubies, framed perfectly by those impossibly black lashes. All so vibrant, and clear, yet every detail carefully crafted, with no imperfections to be found... It was apparent, unlike humans, Jude was designed. All angels were, I believe, and therefore most demons, but only Jude had this effect on

me.

I wonder why...

"Watch your tone, dear" he warned in a low, humming voice, making me swallow again in order to not look very intimidated by his sight.

Perhaps, my mind was wired wrong, when I was born... Intimidation and fear sent an order to my brain, opposite to what would have been healthy or logical for any living being, and even now, I felt the need to have the last word, instead of shutting up.

"Maybe watch yours too then. I'm not more your slave than you are mine, you keep forgetting that" I mumbled out, my voice unfortunately quiet since I had a hard time speaking up with such a tight throat. His pinkie gently moved from the rest of his fingers under my chin, and he traced my jawline delicately as if I could break easily, yet his gaze suggested he would be more than willing to test my limits.

Being stroked gently, by a hand that could destroy the world, always left me feeling indescribable excitement and peace at the same time... Jude decided not to end my, and everyone else's life on Earth, at any given moment, and just thinking about that kind of power, led me to the conclusion that heaven is very lucky, I wasn't born in Jude's position...

"Your expression takes the edge from your words, darling. What mesmerized you so much?" his soft voice broke my hypnotized silence, but before I could've answered, I heard glass slamming onto the counter-top.

"Your drinks, gentlemen" the bartender interrupted our intense stare down, and Jude slowly turned his attention away from me, letting go of my chin when it became necessary for him to take his drink,

Sucking in a deep breath, I had to admit I forgot to inhale in the heat of the moment, but despite him not touching me anymore, the tension didn't leave the air between us. I took my whiskey as well, and without tasting it slowly, the way whiskey was supposed to be drunk, I just gulped it down, frowning as the burning hit the back of my throat.

"Seth, if you aren't planning to sleep with me tonight, maybe you should drink slower" Jude suggested as he glanced at my now empty glass with slight doubt in his eyes. I felt personally attacked.

"And if I am?" I mocked with a tantalizing smile appearing in the corner of my mouth, which only widened as our eyes locked.

"In that case..." he mirrored my smirk, with a fake-innocent expression, and pushed his own whiskey in my direction "Don't let me interrupt, you are an adult, you don't need to be told how much you can drink..." I was half-amused, half- annoyed since for one, it was a funny joke from his side, but from the other, it was disturbing that he knew exactly what I wanted to hear, and if not for his purposefully playful tone, he could've totally sold this to me.

"I know you are trying to mock me, but it's true... I know how to drink in moderation" I retorted, sticking my nose up proudly, and to my surprise, Jude didn't roll his eyes as he usually does, he just widened his wolf-in-sheep's-clothing- smile and nodded along with my words.

"Oh, I'm sure you do... Please, proceed"

"NOW THAT GARBAGE CAN!" I pointed at the innocent object that happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time (this being the street, at 3 am). Jude chuckled at my drunkenly slurred orders and moved his finger ever so slightly. The next second, as expected, flames erupted from the garbage can, just like from the 5 other things I pointed at in the last few minutes. The street smelled like smoke and was well lit from the small fires, yet I had a hard time walking straight, and so my hand was wrapped around the demon's neck, and his around my torso.

"Now that car!"

"Seth..." he gave me a stern look as if to say somehow the car was too big of a loss, and I furrowed my brows in confusion.

"What could go wrong?" famous last words, might I add, and that's probably what Jude thought as well, judging from his expression. He rolled his eyes, though his playful smile remained. I was drunk as hell, but due to my persistent work, so was Jude.

"You know dear, this is exactly why people think you'll cause an apocalypse"

"Hey, I'm the victim here. You had like... Bad influence on me... You wronged my innocent soul" I explained with a stupid grin, and we both chuckled, as we kept trying to walk straight, but still with not much success. His body pressed against mine, as we attempted to hold the other one, but being this close to him didn't feel weird at all... Despite our "complicated" relationship status, his presence was something I felt perfectly comfortable with... it was something I required, after all.

"I suppose Leon would agree" he scoffed, and I frowned at the memory of the unpleasant man.

"Leon can suck my dick" I growled, and Jude let out another tired laughter, relaxing my already not very tense muscles.

"YOU HEAR THAT, YOU OLD VIRGIN CREEP? YOU CAN SUCK ME OFF. AT LEAST YOU'LL GET LAID ONCE" I shouted at the sky, and Jude quickly put his palm over my mouth, while he couldn't help but chuckle at my stupid way of communicating with the angel, which probably didn't work either way.

"Dear, it's 3 am, don't shout" he reproved gently, but I just shrugged, licking his palm so he would take it away from my mouth, but it didn't work, to my utter surprise.

"Why are you licking my hand?"

"Uhm... I thought you would let go" I blurted out when he let his arm down, still shocked like a child who just found out Santa isn't real.

"Seth, your tongue has been licking more private places than my palm-"

"Shut up" I cut him off, not wanting to be reminded particularly. I sighed, stopping on the street, and I glanced back, to see the damage and fires we had left behind. Nothing important had been set to flames, just minor bushes and garbage cans, or occasionally ugly garden dwarfs, but I liked the sight regardless.

"It's beautiful," I said it out loud, after all, so Jude turned back around as well. The orange light of the fires danced around on his features, making his velvet eyes even more vibrant than before.

"You are beautiful" I added, too dazzled to notice what had just come out of my mouth. He glanced at me with a slight surprise but didn't reply for a long while. It was a comfortable silence, one that didn't call to be broken, and one that can only exist between people who know each other well.

"You should've seen me when I was still an angel... White looks good on me" his smile was kind of playful, but I could see the sorrow in it, and my heart broke at the sight... I wanted to kill everything and everyone who had hurt Jude, so there would be no pain left in his eyes, and I hated that I wasn't capable of that.

"I love you now" I shrugged, only realizing what I just said a moment later when we both froze. Jude stared at me, obviously having a mental breakdown inside his head, while my brain just decided to shut down and reboot, so now we were just blankly looking at one another.

"-I"

"Yeah, I get it" he quickly cut in, turning his gaze away from me, while I was searching the ground as well. I wonder how did we two end up looking like flustered kindergarteners suddenly, but after a few awkward throat-clearings, we both got out of our state of shock.

"I mean, you know, I do like you and all. We are partners, aren't we?" I explained, avoiding his eyes while I scratched the back of my head.

"Yeah, yeah, same thoughts. Partners. That's... that's us." Jude agreed, in a similar manner to mine, staying silent again. It took us a few seconds again to glance up at the other one, and lock eyes, but when we did the atmosphere changed drastically.

For a while, we just had a stare-down, but before I knew, my back was roughly pressed against a streetlamp, my breathing becoming one with Jude's, as he didn't really let me lean away from his aggressive kiss. "J-Jude" I rambled, not knowing how to react to the sudden change of heart, yet I wasn't opposed to the idea, feeling the need to deny the lies I just told.

Jude wasn't a partner to me. Wasn't just that, to be exact.

"I love you, and neither of us is going to remember tonight... So just kiss me back for fucks sake" he breathed, and as if his words were set in stone, my body gave in at the very moment the sentence left his mouth.
