Maiden of Midnight

The call, coming from the street where I had left the Faery brat, had summoned me, but by the time I got there, its sender was long gone, their message glowing threateningly.

“Oh Destiny, you always were a stupid girl… Very well, consider it done.” I said to myself, laughing as I turned away.

The stones would continue to burn until sunrise, and those who rose with the sun would see the message. Some would be fearful, others would wonder who the person was, and a small minority would cheer them on, for the stones read:

If you want me, come and get me.

But if you hunt my friends again, you’re dead.
