Maid for The Alphas: Chapter 34
Listening to my omega’s cries of despair all night put me in complete agony. I couldn’t bear it as I sat in front of her door with my face in my hands.
I wanted to badly break the lock and go in there but my pack advised against that.
“She probably needs space,” Ruston had said. “You’ve been smothering her with attention for days.”
“What the fuck? I haven’t been giving her enough attention, and look at what’s happening now,” I retorted at that time.
But now the pack was sleeping in their rooms while I sat in front of her door, listening to her sobbing every twenty minutes.
I wanted to hold her in my arms. I wanted to reassure her that whatever she was going through would be past.
The only thing that went through my mind was that she was wanting to leave me and my pack. Her heat was over and she would have no need for me anymore.
Maybe she hadn’t truly forgiven me.
The crying inside the room had stopped, and I could hear her shuddering breaths as she drifted off to sleep. I could tell she was sleeping because her breathing pattern changed from frantic to calm.
I pulled my face away from my hands and sighed. I had never slept a night without her beside me. Even on my late nights of working, I’d get in bed, and she would automatically snuggle in beside me. Something had changed, and I needed to know what it was. I made myself comfortable in front of her door and closed my eyes.
I would give her the space she needed for now, until tomorrow morning.
A shrill screech awakened me.
“What the fu-?” I groaned as I opened my eyes. I’d forgotten that I was sleeping on the floor, and Bree’s door was wide open.
She stood above me, looking at me with shock.
“Did you sleep here all night?” she asked.
“Yes,” I grunted, sounding like an old man, and I felt like one too. My joints ached from sleeping on the cold ground, but hope rose in my chest as I talked to her.
Talking to her gave me life. Looking at her rosy cheeks made my dick hard as fuck.
“Um, why would you do that?”
“Because I love you,” I said, trying to think of a plan quickly. “And I want to take you out today? Does a picnic sound good?”
“But don’t you have work?” she asked as she bit her lip uncertainly.
“No,” I lied. I would take a hundred days off if it meant spending more time with her. I slowly stood up on numb legs from staying in one position all night. “Why don’t you get ready, sweetheart, and we’ll leave right after?”
She looked excited at the thought, but there was a cloud behind her eyes, like a sadness that I dreaded. Feeling the distance between us, I clasped her tiny hands in mine.
Her bottom lip trembled as she tried to hold it together. Panic roiled within me as I began wondering what she was thinking and contemplating the entire night.
Was she completely done with me?
“Okay, I’ll get ready,” she finally said with a shuddering sigh.
I reluctantly let her hands go as she walked back into the room, closing the door behind her. I stood there for a full minute, trying to process what just happened.
She was pulling away from me, and I could feel it.
“What’s going on, Zaff?” asked Oscar, appearing out of nowhere as he threw on a shirt. “I heard her door open.”
“She’s distancing herself from us,” I said, walking away from her door. “I don’t understand.”
“Damn,” said Oscar worriedly.
“We’re going on a picnic today,” I said. “All of us. Tell the rest of the pack.”
“Alright, sounds good.”
Breanna
Stepping out of the shower, I wrapped my wet hair in a small towel as I walked towards my closet to pick something to wear to the picnic today.
What the hell did I just agree to?
I had planned to cut things off with Zaff and his pack today, but I just didn’t have the heart to do it after finding him sleeping in front of my door. Something about seeing him uncomfortable for many hours just to make sure I was alright touched me.
I sighed as I rifled through all the dresses and outfits in my closet.
Zaff had his assistants gather my size and fill my closet up with a bunch of frilly dresses I could wear to his fancy dinner parties with associates. I hadn’t been to one yet, and it gave me pure anxiety just thinking about that.
I picked out a long-sleeved sky-blue dress that stopped just above my knee. I paired it with brown strappy sandals. This would be a perfect outfit for a picnic.
After blow-drying my hair, I put on the outfit and loved the way it flared at my waist. My brown hair was fluffy and long around my shoulders, complimenting the dress. I decided to go light on the makeup as I sat at my vanity table. Light pink lipstick, blue eyeshadow, and mascara.
Despite feeling nervous about being pregnant, I was excited to hang out with Zaff and the pack for a picnic today. Getting up from my chair, I walked over to the window and looked out the bright sky to the beautiful view of the mountain before me.
It would be a beautiful day for a picnic.
But I had to ask them if they were serious about me or not. If they weren’t serious, I needed to know so I could start building a life alone.
An hour later, I was riding in the limo with the entire pack as Jeff drove us to the picnic site. I sat between Ruston and Oscar while Chad and Zaff sat across from us.
“Am I allowed to hold your hand?” asked Ruston after five minutes of awkward silence in the vehicle. The alphas seemed afraid of me almost, and I wanted to burst out laughing, but I held back.
“Yes,” I said, smiling, and he let out a sigh of relief, clasping my hand. They weren’t groping me in the car like they usually did or fingering me until I came. There was a lot of nervousness and tension between us.
“Glad you don’t hate us,” said Ruston, and I shook my head.
“I was just tired last night,” I said, trying to brush it off, but the way Zaff was gazing at me told me that my carefree attitude didn’t fool him.
“Zaff slept outside your door all night,” said Oscar, grasping my other hand. “We begged him to give you space.”
I knew that Oscar was trying to get a reason out of me, but I wasn’t ready to talk about it yet. I was still wondering whether or not to tell them about the baby.
My worst fear was that they would feel obligated to stay with me because of the baby.
“We’re here,” said Zaff, thankfully diverting the conversation so we could look out the window instead. Jeff parked the limo on the side of the road, and Oscar opened the door for me, helping me out.
I gasped when I saw the cute hillside and the trees blowing in the light wind of this beautiful summer’s day.
“Do you like it?” asked Chad, and I nodded. “I picked this spot specifically.”
As we climbed up the hillside, I noticed the picnic baskets and large blankets already set up by their team. There were large trays holding glass cups, a charcuterie board displaying different cured meats with crackers, and a fruit platter.
I sat comfortably on the plush blanket between Zaff and Ruston as they opened the picnic baskets while I quietly watched.
They pulled out a bunch of little sandwiches from the baskets made with different types of fillings.
“This is a lot,” I said.
“We need to make sure our omega is eating right,” said Zaff, feeding me a piece of cantaloupe from a fork, and I chewed on the juicy bite. He adjusted the watch on his hairy wrist. I wanted to touch his wrist, my favorite spot on him, but I had to talk to him first.
“Zaff,” I said, but he put a finger against my lips.
“Before you say anything, sweetheart,” he started. “I wanted to show you something.”
He presented a large picnic basket before me, and I looked at it, confused.
“What? We already have lots of food out.”
“Open the basket,” he said, and I could sense his contained excitement. Zaff’s eyes were sparkling, and I knew then that it was one of his surprises.
“Alright,” I said, opening the straw cover and setting it on the blanket. I looked inside, and my eyes widened when I saw the ring nestled perfectly between a piece of white silk fabric. A halo of delicate diamonds encircled the larger diamond in the center. My hand was trembling when I reached in for it.
“Breanna,” said Zaff, and I looked at him while holding the ring in my palm. My heart was beating so fast I thought I might pass out. “You are the only one I want. I mean it truly from my heart. The moment I set eyes on your stunning beauty, I wanted no other, regardless if you were a human, beta, or omega.”
I couldn’t say anything, shocked as he continued.
“On behalf of my entire pack and for myself, I want to ask if you would like to marry me. And be the treasured omega of our pack?”
The sincerity in his gaze spoke volumes to me.
My gaze met the eyes of my four alphas, each watching me with a mixture of hope and nervous anticipation. Their love shone brightly in their eyes, waiting for my answer.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I realized how much each of them meant to me.
“Yes,” I said, as tears rolled down my cheeks. Zaff picked up the ring from my palm and smiled as he slid it over my finger. “I would love to marry all of you.”
“Thank god,” Ruston said in the background, and I giggled. “Thought she was about done with us.”
Zaff leaned in towards me, and I automatically mirrored him.
Our lips met, and it was fireworks as we kissed before his entire pack. The kiss symbolized our engagement and union to be.
The kiss ended, and I noticed a tear in the corner of his eye.
“Are you crying?” I exclaimed. “You’re going to make me cry again.”
“No, it’s the wind,” he said gruffly, and his pack chuckled.
“It’s okay to let your emotions show,” I said, touched that he cared deeply about this moment. And that it meant a lot to him as it did to me.
“When do you want to get married? Because I want to marry you as soon as possible,” said Zaff.
“Are we having a big wedding?” asked Chad.
The four alphas surrounded me as I sat in the middle. With their eyes on me, I could feel their love surrounding me as they listened to my every word.
“How about just eloping?” I suggested.
“Hmm, not a bad idea,” said Zaff. “You sure about that?”
“My family is stuck at the compound, so it’ll be impossible to have a proper wedding,” I said. “Plus, I always loved the idea of elopement. It looks romantic in movies.”
The alphas laughed, and I blushed at their hyper-attention of me.
“We will have whatever type of ceremony you want,” said Zaff. Then he held both of my hands in his hand, and we both looked at the sparkling gem on my finger. “Are you ready to be a married omega?”
