Chapter Awakening
Madilynne's P.O.V
Goddess did he have to shout? My ears rang out from the loud voices bombarding me. I felt so disoriented, I didn’t know if I should be angry or relieved.
“QUIET” I shouted finally having enough. The room instantly fell silently, the throbbing pressure in my head dissipated. I rubbed my eyes and looked at all the faces in the room. Kade looked like he hadn’t slept in days. “What is going on? why am I in a hospital?”
“Pack clinic, You collapsed Madi..” My dad said.
I looked at Kade again and suddenly I remembered what had happened. I glanced down at the palm of my hands and jerked my gaze back up to him. ” I.. Are you okay??”
I watched as he chuckled and reached for my hands. ” You wake up in a hospital bed and your concern lies with me? You scared the shit out of me love” He barely managed to get that out before I was wrapped in his arms. “I’m sorry I don’t know what happened, I was so consumed by everything that has happened. I just wanted to fix it, I didn’t want the ones I love to suffer from pain. You don’t deserve it.” I spoke looking directly at Kade as I cradled his face in my hands. I watched as his eyes flashed a bit brighter. “Goddess Madi, I don’t know what I did to deserve a mate like you.” He said as he crashed his lips to mine.
I could hear someone clear their throat but I was too consumed with Kade’s lips on mine to care. I wanted my mate to know how much I needed him, no more distractions. It seems like at every turn something was pulling us from each other. My focus was only on him at this moment.
Kade pulled away first, pressing his forehead to mine resting it there as he took in a shaky breath. I looked into his emerald eyes and smiled gently at him.
I turned to the room when Kade released me “So how long was I out for? Everyone looks a bit on the rough side.”
Two weeks. I was in and out of consciousness for two damn weeks. It felt like hours. My dad filled me in on the events I had missed. The rogue we captured had escaped after only three days. I snarled when I heard the news and jumped to go hunt the bastard down my self. Everyone informed me that he escaped in the middle of the night, but had help covering his scent trail. Which meant there was a traitor in the pack.
The only good news I received was Katie was settling in comfortably. She actually found her mate too.
“Did the damn rogue give us at least any useful information? Why was he after Katie?” I asked my Dad. He shook his head in response. “We’re working on figuring out who helped him escape. You need to focus on your training when you’re feeling better, we’ll handle the rogue mess.” I nodded “Where’s Katie?”
Kades face lit up with a smile “With her mate. Let’s go find her shall we?” I reached for his outstretched hand and placed mine inside. “Wait I need to change first.”
Kade and I walked to my room with our hands laced together.
“How are you feeling? I didn’t hurt you did I?” Sitting down on the edge of my bed I quietly asked him. I looked down at my hands, I was completely out of control I needed to get a handle on things before I hurt someone. Kade gently lifted my chin up, directing my gaze into his. “You took it from me, you didn’t hurt me you saved me. I hadn’t realized this whole time the guilt and pain was slowly eating away at me. I’ll always remember her, but the pain isn’t there. Just happiness of what was.”
He pressed a slow kiss to my lips. Gradually the intensity of it gripping us both. I wanted more. I needed more.
I bit down on his lip wanting to take control of the kiss. He grunted and allowed me to take the kiss deeper, exploring his mouth. His hands started roaming as did mine before he reached the hem of my shirt. My breath hitched, “Tell me to stop and I will Madi.”
I didn’t know what I wanted. I wanted him, but flashes of my past were holding me back. I shifted back dropping my hands from his shoulders “I..I cant I’m sorry kade..”
He leaned forward and wrapped me protectively in his arms “I’ll wait as long as it takes.”
I looked into his green orbs and could see the sincerity and understanding lying beneath the surface. Goddess, he’s perfect.
The next few moments were stolen from us when a howl broke off, coming from somewhere outside. The howl put me on edge, Willow was alert now.
I could hear shouting and howls coming from outside ‘Dad what’s happening?’ I mind-linked my dad, with urgency laced in my tone.
‘Rogues have breached the east side of our territory, I’m sending guards to you now, stay in the house.’ He all but growled through the mind link. I could sense his unease. I looked at Kade, since he wasn’t in our pack and me being born into the Crescent pack I was the only one of the two of us with the connection to pack links. He had no idea what was happening. “There was a breach at the east border. Rogues.”
Kade’s face turned to stone and he immediately jumped into action snarling.
The guards made it to my room and Kade gave them further instructions that no one leaves or comes through that door unless it was him or my father. They nodded their heads at the Alpha before them and took a defensive stance in front of my door. Kade gave me a quick but passionate kiss before leaving, a promise to return.
‘Come back to me kade or so help me I’ll kill every rogue to get to you.’
‘Always Madi.’
I paced the room, I couldn’t get through to Kade. It’s been at least an hour since he left and no one has come yet. No mind link. Nothing. My wolf was agitated and on edge. I was fighting to control her, she kept pushing for control.
I finally realized we were supposed to meet Katie and her mate somewhere before this happened.. Oh god, they’ve come for her! My wolf roared in my head as soon as the thought crossed my mind. I leaped from my window and shifted to my white wolf. I let out an earth-shaking growl and raced to the east border.
Over my dead body would they take Katie.
