Chapter 122
Chapter 122 Footsteps
Christian's eyes flashed across a complicated expression. "No."
He took a deep breath, calmed himself, pursed his lips and said, "I didn't suspect you. Take a good rest."
He glanced at Derek coldly as he spoke and frowned. "She's going to rest. Why aren't you leaving yet?"
Derek sneered, "You are the one who should leave."
Christian's face turned gloomy as if it was covered with a layer of cold mist, and he glanced at Derek grim-faced, then looked at Anastasia, saying in a deep voice, "Make him leave." Anastasia stood there lazily and looked at him coldly, "Christian Patterson, you should leave."
Christian's gritted his teeth instantly, and his chest heaved up and down as if he was restraining his emotions.
He looked at Anastasia deeply, turned around, and strode away angrily.
Anastasia frowned slightly. "He obviously doubted me. Why is he just left like that?"
After Derek took her back to her ward, he looked at her grim-faced and asked, "Yesterday afternoon... Did you do that?"
Anastasia smiled wryly. "Yes."
Derek paused and asked in a low voice, "Did Beatrice set fire to that private room the last time?"
He quickly realized that if she hadn't obtained clear evidence, she would not be so impulsive as to wrong the innocent.
He had just found out about the relationship between the waiter and Alison, but Anastasia had already made a move. It could only be said that she already knew who was instigating it.
Anastasia nodded and seemed to acquiesce to the question.
Derek immediately turned gloomy enveloped with a menacing and cold aura.
"You should have told me earlier, so I can kill her myself. You don't have to do it yourself."
Anastasia curled into a wry smile, looked at Derek, and said calmly, "Derek, of course I need revenge with my own hands, so I will feel better. Besides, I didn't intend to dirty my hands. Don't worry. I know what I'm doing."
"Anastasia..."
Derek felt sorry for his younger sister, and even more so for her tenacity.
"It's okay, Derek. I had an alibi yesterday. Even if they doubted me, there wouldn't be any evidence."
Anastasia walked over and acted coquettishly, saying, "I want to eat some prawns. Can you make some for me?"
Derek glanced at her helplessly, reached out to stroke her hair, and then instructed someone to prepare the ingredients.
He called his subordinate and asked him to clean up any other clues that might have been missed.
He couldn't put Anastasia at any risk.
After the prawns were ready, Derek asked the chef to deliver some other dishes, and then Baxter and Amanda came. Anastasia was happy to see her parents and even ate a few more mouthfuls of pasta.
Anastasia and Derek did not tell them about Beatrice.
It was just that Baxter kept asking her to go back to recuperate, as it was uncomfortable to stay in the hospital. Amanda glared at him and smiled. "It's inconvenient for Jaxon to visit if she goes back to recuperate."
Anastasia and Derek looked at each other, speechless.
"What does it have to do with Jaxon?" they wondered.
After the meal, Derek sent Baxter and Amanda back home, while Anastasia went upstairs for a walk with the nurse.
The hospital's top floor was a private botanical garden with a quiet and elegant environment. The chairs under several garden umbrellas were for people to rest, and ordinary people couldn't simply enter the top floor.
The weather was fine. The nurse left after Anastasia told her she wanted to sit for a while.
After a while, she heard footsteps behind her, and Anastasia thought it was the nurse who had come back, so she didn't look back.
But she didn't hear the nurse call for her after a few seconds.
She suddenly felt a chill run down her spine. She stood up abruptly and turned around to look.
In an instant, the person before she staggered and was pushed down by another person.
Anastasia looked at the two people who appeared in front of her in shock.
One was Beatrice had short shaved hair and gauze wrapped around her arm, and she almost couldn't recognize her.
And another...
