Chapter Chapter- 22- croissants
"Why did you drag her in this, Nora? Are you crazy? She.. She just lost her mate and must have not recovered from this and you are involving her in my matter." Allison groaned in protest and berated Nora. Holding her head, she fell on the bed in frustration.
"I'm not crazy and she wanted to help you so she approached me. I reckon that she wants to avenge her mate's death. She hates our pack now but She hates Dark walkers to the core. I couldn't let her down and accepted thinking extra help would be needed. Naomi is one strong wolf, Ali." Nora interjected her wish to add her.
Allison knew Naomi was the best warrior as she always heard about her on campus. She felt her agony for losing her mate but would it be right for her to stand against the Dark walkers? And avenging them seems ridiculous knowing their dark and violent reputation.
"Ali, you don't need to think about anything. Please stay away from problems and try not to get involved with anyone uselessly. We will get a way. Rescuing you doesn't mean we need to fight them. It can be done in other ways too." Nora mused.
"What do you mean?" Allison didn't feel right about where her mind was going.
"I mean, you don't need to care about anything. Soon, I will tell you. Till then stay safe. I love you. I won't let you get hurt more than you already are. We will find Mason too if there is a way. Hopes make the world go around, babe." Allison stretched her lips into a rueful smile. She hoped her words would turn true anyhow.
After talking to her, Allison relaxed a bit. But she knew she couldn't totally depend on her. She needed to hunt her brother's whereabouts herself. Now when she has an idea that they won't kill her, she will use her time in plotting to dig deep into the war and its aftermath.
Allison headed downstairs to find something to fill her empty stomach and rushed to the place which she reckoned to be a kitchen. She spotted the same maid who called her last night for dinner, was chopping something. Allison looked around, not a single soul was seen around.
"Hey..." she grabbed her attention. The maid turned and her eyes widened.
"Miss, do you need anything?" She asked politely.
"Umm. I'm sorry, I couldn't ask your name." Allison smiled and she returned the smile politely.
"My name is Bonnie."
"Hey Bonnie, I came here for breakfast." Allison's sheepish voice made her blink in surprise.
"Oh! You must be hungry. Otherwise nobody would come early in the morning."
Early?
Seeing Allison's confused look she clarified to her about the mansion routine.
"Everybody comes after nine for breakfast and now it's seven thirty. Let me cook something for you fast." She started fetching out the ingredients from the refrigerator.
"Bonnie. Please let me do this. Do you have oats available?" Allison grabbed the milk container from her hand as Bonnie sauntered to the pantry to fetch her the pack of oats. She made herself the blueberry almond steel-cut oatmeal and offered Bonnie too who was reluctant to eat this but eventually had it with her.
Then they bustled around the kitchen to make breakfast. Allison volunteered to help her much to her reluctance.
"Bonnie, I didn't see many people around the kingdom. Do they not interact with each other?" Allison asked her curiously. They had already become friends with each other so she didn't hesitate to ask.
"No Allison, our kingdom is very enormous, including thousands of pack members. 'Dark walkers' is divided into few strongest packs under its wings and all the packs are assigned their ranks including Alpha, beta and gamma which work collectively under and for our King." she replied.
"They have a unique structure compared to a normal pack." Allison muttered. Bonnie nodded with a smile preparing the pancakes.
"Yes. And the immediate official members of our kingdom reside in the houses located behind the mansion. You didn't see or interact with any of them yet because you are not introduced to the pack officially. But soon you will." Allison nodded at her indifferently. She didn't have to interact with more monsters.
They made peanut butter sandwiches, pancakes and chocolate croissants with whipped cinnamon butter which was one of Allison's favourites. So she wasn't hesitant to show off her cutlery skills.
Allison jogged to the counter and pulled a hot croissant from the pan spreading a little whipped cinnamon butter on top. The delicious aroma filled the kitchen and she sighed in bliss.
"I have this urge to swallow it in one gulp." Bonnie commented looking over at the hot pieces and they both laughed out loud. Allison felt joy and relaxed for the first time since she stepped into this place.
Allison carefully grabbed the napkin and picked out one croissant smeared with cinnamon butter and tasted it. It was super delicious. She passed it to Bonnie to taste it but she seemed hesitant. "Bonnie, you need to have a bit of this heavenly-made thing."

"Umm. Ali, I don't think so. We maids can't have anything unless our king and other high-ranking people have breakfast." She murmured. Allison rolled my eyes.
"Okay I understand. But you know since I made it so you can have it thinking I made it for you as a friend. It's not like their usual breakfast that you tasted before them. so see it as a little treat from me." Allison smiled and stuffed her hand with the croissant wrapped in paper.
She gestured for her to eat and wait for her reaction. Bonnie hesitantly took a bite on it and instantly moaned the second that warm piece melted on her tongue.
"It's delectable." She moaned again in bliss.
"I know right." Allison giggled.
They went to the cabinet and pulled out some plates to set the table. Bonnie was afraid that if someone noticed her helping her, they would accuse her of making the new guest cook.
But Allison waved it off saying it was nothing much. She started preparing the dining table when They heard voices coming out of the kitchen. Seeing everyone coming, Allison graced her presence out.
"Allison, what are you doing there?" Aztec caught her emerging out of the kitchen and asked surprisingly, seeing the plate in her hands.
