Lycanthropy

Chapter Chapter Seventy-Seven

At her mountain:

“So you still don’t know what the reason is that he wants you?” Amy asked me.

The room we sat in was filled with people who had anything to do, or wanted to help with the whole situation. Besides this Dimitri guy, of whom Aron had told me about, who decided to stay on top of the mountain.

I don’t know when Radu is coming here, but we have to set up a plan in motion as quickly as possible. So, we exchanged all our information and findings to each other at the same time, to avoid missing out of any of it.

Aron had shown me the UV lights and the new leather armour that would protect us from the bites of Nightstalker scouts. They looked amazing, but it wouldn’t be enough for Radu’s assassins as they would be a lot stronger and faster in movement. So, they would still be able to rip our heads or limbs off, even though we would be carrying those armours, or be shining those lights at them.

And Amy and Frida told us about their findings at Daniel’s library and why all Alpha’s should carry something in writing about Radu, to keep remembering him.

Then I thought about all the skills that Marius had taught me. And that I am maybe able to teach some of them to our wolves. Or maybe I could teach them about using their wolves’ eyes, like I could with Dakota. But I decided against telling them that straight away, until I had shown Aron those skills.

“No, not exactly. Marius said that Radu saw me as a challenge because he couldn’t command me, but other than that, no.” I answered Amy’s question.

“Maybe he just thinks you’re beautiful.” Frida said.

“Thanks Frida, but I think it goes deeper than that. There is something that is still not clear to me, as both Radu and Marius wouldn’t answer my question about it.” I said.

Our meeting had lasted for hours already and I started to get tired.

Then suddenly the phone that I had stolen from the white haired woman, which I still had because mine was taken by Radu the moment I entered his mansion, began to buzz. I suspected it was probably one of her relatives, that was now missing her, but it was someone quite the unusual.

“Em? You alright?” Marius asked me, after I had put the phone on speaker.

“Yes, thanks to you. Why do you call me? Have you sided with your brother again?” I snapped at him.

“Wow, I help you and I get that remark as thanks?”

“Yes, you have saved me, and I’m grateful for that, but you still are a blood-drinking killer, which is not in my nature to truly be comfortable with.”

“Alright, you got me there. Well anyways, I wanted to inform you that Radu will be with you on the next full moon.” He said and I wanted to reply to that but he beat me to it. “Yes, I know the ‘full moon’ is quite theatrical, don’t shoot me, I’m just the messenger.”

“And why should I believe you? He could be here tomorrow if he wants to.”

Marius’ phone shuffled and some grinding noises and curses were heard.

“I wouldn’t lie, my little white.” Radu suddenly spoke up. “If I want to take you with me, than I will do so when you are at the peak of your strength. I want you to prepare and be strong, I want you to fight me, so that when you admit your defeat, while lying in my arms, you can’t ignore me any longer. I will break you, and you will become mine!” Radu stated over the phone and ended the call.

“Wow, speaking of possessive much.” Amy said, as she had understood what he had been saying, as he spoke in English.

I ignored her remark and looked towards Terrence as he translated to Aron what Radu had said.

Aron growled in displeasure but took a few deep breaths while his eyes blackened over.

“You know I won’t let it happen, for him to take you away from me again, right?” Aron linked me.

“Aron, you know I don’t want to either. You are mine and I am yours.” I responded.

I changed my stature to look at all the people in the room. We have to prepare for Radu’s arrival and there is still much to do.

“Roughly twenty-five days guys. You think you can equip us all and be ready by then?” I asked Terrence and Berrant. Terrence shrugged his shoulders and Berrant scratched the back of his head, unsurely looking over at his mate, knowing that I wouldn’t take a ‘no’ for an answer but still they wanted to give me the gesture that it wasn’t going to be easy.

“We’ve got no choice, do we?” Terrence replied and I shook my head.

“Amy and Frida, you guys are on moral duty, as I don’t want fights happening between the wolves and Lycans.” I commanded of them.

“Daniel and Michael, I appreciate your help so far, and I barely could ask you for-

“Em, you know we’re in this too. This isn’t just about your life or your pack, if we don’t deal with him now, then who knows how many he will kill after.” Daniel interrupted me.

I nodded to him in thanks and was grateful that he didn’t let me ask him.

“Timothy, gather up all the fightable wolves, manage finances and arrange for everyone to be comfortable.” I demanded of my Gamma and he replied with a simple “Always” before leaving the room.

“Emerson, I need to talk to you in private for a moment.” Aron said to me, once everyone had left the room.

“Love, there is something that I wanted to ask or actually tell you.” He said softly.

“What is it? Why are you being so gentle with it?”

“Well, you know that Amy has found out, that every fifty years a pack had been taken and massacred. And both Frida and Daniel had said that the information on the Nightstalkers is being taught upon the next Alpha in line, right?” He said, I nodded, but then he stopped talking.

“Yes, so what are you getting at? You know I hate it when people don’t tell me directly!” I snapped at him.

“Yes I’m sorry, I just don’t want to accuse anyone without knowing it for certain. Which I still don’t.” He sighed but decided to continue anyway. “Your grandfather must be of age to at least have been through, or heard from an massive attack the last time Radu had been doing this. So, why hasn’t he said a word to us about it?”

Shit, he was right.

Aron wasn’t accusing my grandfather for anything, he was just curious as to how and why. But now that he asked me this, I actually am sort of accusing my grandfather. Because he is an Alpha, and a strong one too, so he should know a thing about this. He could have prevented us from being attacked and from me being taken as well!

I was getting tired and I really wanted to sleep, but there were just too many things that were roaming through my mind. Besides the thing about my grandfather that is.

So far, I still don’t know why I’m special to Radu. Maybe I can persuade Marius to tell me later. Furthermore, there was still the question as to how they both weren’t able to use their command on me, and I was wondering as well how Radu could have made me his for centuries. Could he turn others into Nightstalkers? Or were they born that way?

And then last, but certainly not least, who the hell was that voice I heard, when I was half asleep?
