Griffin stood with Demetria clinging to him and sobbing as they watched the spaceships disappear out of sight, and all hope of survival with them. Defeat imminent, they went back into the underground to prepare for their deaths which would surely come sooner rather than later.

Griffin looked at his partner and then upon his ‘riches’.

“My love,” he whispered in her ear, “this is how the world ends.”
