Chapter 113
"SIEGREN, Helga's voice was filled with sadness as she approached him. He didn't acknowledge her presence because his mind was full of thoughts and just continued to stare out the window. She sighed and wrapped her arms around him from behind making him flinched. The day they had been dreading had finally arrived-the day of her departure. For the last few days, they made the most of every moment, despite their busy schedules. After meetings with the delegates, they would take long walks or spend time in their chambers, making love and talking about their future plans. They had thought they were ready for the temporary separation, but now that it was actually happening, it left them feeling a little lost. They wanted to stay together, but it was not an option anymore, at least at the moment.
"Let's go, you need to see us out," She tightened her arms around him, feeling the warmth of his body against hers. Suddenly, she felt a drop of liquid on her arm and quickly turned to face him. Her heart sank when she saw tears steaming down his face. She had been trying so hard not to cry but seeing him in this state was like a knife to her heart. They held each other's gaze, their teary eyes conveying the pain and loneliness of being apart.
"Don't worry, this is just because of my wolf instincts. I mean, you know it's natural for us to feel heartbreak when our mates are apart for long periods of time." He let out a small laugh, attempting to conceal his vulnerable emotions. Despite his position as the Alpha King, he knew he appeared weak and fragile, especially since being apart from Helga was proving to be much more difficult than he had anticipated.
"I love you." Helga said, her voice trembling as she used her thumbs to gently wipe away the tears in the corners of his eyes "We'll see each other again in two weeks?
"Right, but it felt crazy how am I acting like we're going to be apart for a year," he chuckled, leaning forward and pressing his nose against hers. "Sorry, I know shouldn't be showing this side of me but I couldn't help myself"

With her heart racing and her breath catching in her throat, Helga nodded in respinse. His strong hands cupped her cheeks gently, and she reached up to place her hands on top of his. Their eyes then locked, deep red meeting bright green as they could feel the intensity building between them. Without hesitation, they closed the gap between them, and their lips met in a passionate kiss, filled with longing and reassurance.
Helga's arms wrapped tightly around his neck, pulling him closer as Siegren's hands slid down to grip her waist. They were lost in each other, caught up in the moment and not wanting it to end. But when a knock sounded at the door, they reluctantly pulled away, their eyes meeting once again with a mix of reluctance and affection.
"Your Majesty, the Narva arva Delegates are prepared to depart." the beta announced and Siegren held Helga's hand tightly and then turned his gaze towards the door.
"We're coming," he said softly before stepping out of the room. With each careful step, Helga's heart began to pound painfully against her ribs, her nerves mounting as she clung tightly to Siegren's hand. As they finally reached the grand front entrance where the delegation was gathered, Riovanni's piercing gaze fell upon them. He then exchanged polite formalities with them before they went outside where a luxurious car waited for them.
The entire high-ranking pack members and some of the royal guards gathered to bid farewell to the Narva Delegation. However, as Helga released Siegren's hand and stepped beside the Lycan King, their expressionis turned from serious to concern and puzzlement. This action was unexpected, and murmurs quickly spread among the crowd, but David silenced them with a gesture,
It was all part of Siegren's plan; he had purposefully kept Helga's departure from the country a secret from the other pack members to deceive the delegates into thinking she was going with them because he had been blackmailed by the Lycan King, when in reality she was going with them willingly as planned. "Your Majesty, what is the meaning of this? Why is the queen coming with them?" Ludwig couldn't resist the urge to ask. He had only recently been appointed as the queen's personal guard but he already felt a deep sense of responsiblity towards her. She had always shown kindness and compassion to their pack, and when he heard that her life might be in danger with the arrival of the Lycan King, he knew he had to do everything in his power to protect her, even if it meant sacrificing his

"Ludwig, stop. There's no time for questions. Just bid farewell to the Queen properly." Lucian;s stern voice cut off his brother, causing him to frown and pursed his lips. He wanted to argue, but when he saw the reassuring look in Helga's eyes. he reluctantly gave up. The rest of of the royal pack members present were confused and worried by this unexpected turn of events, causing Siegren to let out a deep sigh and lock eyes with the Lycan King
"I wish you safe travels" he said extending his arm towards him, the vein in his neck almost showing when he clenched his jaw, "Please, don't do anything to my wife, we had an agreement"
"Don't worry. I am a man of my word." Riovanni's twisted smirk revealed his cunning nature as he convinced his pack member that he had successfully blackmailed the powerful Alpha King, Oblivious to any betrayal, they looked at Siegren with smug expressions, believing him to be nothing but a pathetic coward who would sacrifice his own wife to avoid conflict. They thought Siegren's initial display of arrogance during their first meeting was nothing but clownery.
"Well then, we will take our leave. I want to extend my gratitude for the kindness and hospitality you've shown us during our one-week stay, and let's make sure to continue working on the peace treaty together. Riovanni said before letting go of Siegren's hand and turning to look at Helga. "Say your goodbye to them, fallen princess of Narva."
A chill ran down the spine of everyone as those words escaped his lips. Even Helga, who was aware that he was playing a role, couldn't help but shudder. Riovanni truly embodied a Lycan King with his powerful aura, on par with Siegren or perhaps even stronger. She won't deny it.

Her gaze traveled across each face in the room, lingering on Portia and Sierra who seemed to be holding back tears. On the other hand, Ludwig was biting his lips, completely cluless as to what exactly was happening. Meanwhile, David and Lucian just gave her a reassuring nod, silently promising to execute the plan and bring her safely back to Verdentia. But it was Siegren's eyes that captured her attention; full of tenderness and love, they seemed to hold an entire lifetime of memories between them that made her heart ache. She took one final glance at everyone, savoring the bittersweet moment/ before beginning her farewell speech.
"I'm aware that my sudden departure caused concern for everyone, and I apologize for that. However, rest assured that I will be okay. As your Queen and Luna, I must make sacrifices for the betterment of our pack and country," she said, her voice shaking but tried her best not to shed any tears, "Please, take care of my husband... If Moon Goddess allows it... We will all see each other again."
A gust of wind picked up, rustling through her hair as she bid her farewell. Slowly, she turned around when Riovanni and the rest of his pack members did so. Every step towards the car felt heavy as if they were weighted with bricks, especially when the Lycan's beta opened the backseat door for them. Before she climbed inside, she took one last glance at the royal pack, her eyes locking with Siegren's intense gaze. She held his stare until the very last second, unable to tear herself away from the magnetic pull between them. her
