Chapter 287

Chapter 287

Elyra and Dain barely had time to react as Jason stepped out of the shadows, his appearance more monstrous than ever. His once-human features were grotesquely twisted, dark veins snaking across his mottled skin. His glowing red eyes burned with a malevolent hunger that made Elyra's breath catch in her throat. "You thought you could escape me?" Jason sneered, his voice unnaturally resonant, amplified by a darkness that seemed to echo from another world. "You're mine, Elyra. Always."

Elyra instinctively stepped back, her pulse racing. Dain moved in front of her without hesitation, his body tense and coiled like a spring. "You'll never touch her," he growled, his orange eyes flaring with an intensity that matched Jason's malevolence.

The fight erupted without warning. Jason lunged at Dain, his claws slashing through the air with terrifying speed. Dain countered, his movements impossibly sharp and precise, meeting Jason's attacks head-on. Each blow reverberated like thunder, shaking the ground beneath their feet.

Jason's inhuman strength sent shockwaves with every strike, but Dain's feral determination matched him blow for blow. Elyra's heart pounded as she watched the savage battle, fear clawing at her chest. Summoning her courage, she raised her hands, channeling the power that surged within her. The silver glow of her hair illuminated the clearing as energy crackled around her.

"Now, Dain!" Elyra shouted, her voice cutting through the chaos as she cast a net of shimmering light around Jason, entangling his limbs and slowing his movements.

Dain didn't hesitate. He surged forward, delivering a devastating blow to Jason's chest that sent him sprawling into the shadows. Jason rose unsteadily, coughing blood, but his lips curled into a grin, his teeth bared in twisted amusement.

"You can't win," Jason spat, his voice venomous. "The Lycan King will finish what I started."

With a final, hate-filled glare, Jason disappeared into the darkness, his grotesque form fading into the night. The clearing fell silent except for the sound of Dain's labored breathing.

Elyra rushed to him, her hands trembling as she touched his arm. "Are you hurt?"

Dain shook his head, though his breathing was heavy. "Not as much as he will be when I find him again," he said, his voice low and steady.
