Lucas and The Time-Traveling Fog

Chapter 11 Here Comes Trouble

You know what I said about accomplishing a whole lot more. Well, for the most part, I was wrong. The trouble all started for me when I was walking to my 4th-period Physics class, and that was when somebody tripped me, and all of my books and papers that I had in my hands fell all over the floor. I sighed and got on my knees to pick up everything. As I was grabbing my stuff, I heard an unfamiliar voice jokingly say, “Oh, I’m sorry about that, kid. It was an accident, I swear.” Ya right, if it was an accident, they would help me.

Just when I thought this day couldn’t get any worse, a beautiful girl with brown hair wearing a poodle skirt came to my aid. As she was helping me gather all of my books and papers. She asked me, “Are you alright?”

“Yeah.... I’m alright, just mad.”

She then said, “Well, you better watch out for those two.” As I turn around where she is pointing at, I then see two guys in letterman jackets walking while high-fiving each other. “Yeah, those two who tripped you are part of Henry’s Possie,” she said. “What did you do to make Henry lose his lid and call his posse on you?” That’s when it dawned on me that it must have something to do with the drag race that was supposed to happen last night.

Now, this girl was too cute to tell the truth, so I lied and said, “I-I don’t have the slightest clue, and once again, thank you for helping me out. Well, see you around, I guess,” and I left. As I walked away, I couldn’t help but think of why I didn’t ask for her name. But whatever, another opportunity was wasted and headed to the 4th period.

This wasn’t the last encounter with Henry and his posse, though -- I met the ringleader himself. Now, I didn’t want Gary’s reputation being hurt or ruined from my mistake of not showing up at the drag race. But I kinda had a feeling that the worst was about to come. As soon as the bell rang, ending the 7th period, I had no choice but to head to the 8th-period gym class where I knew Henry would be …waiting for me.

As I headed to my gym locker where we were supposed to be dressing today, Henry surprised me by giving me a hard push from behind. I banged my shoulder into the locker -- that will surely leave a mark. Henry shouted, “I waited for you, Gary...and you didn’t show ...now, why is that?”

“Why hello there Henry, uhhh can we talk about this after school please?” I pleaded.

“Yeah, I think we’re done talking. Let’s settle this after school. Meet me in the parking lot. Don’t chicken out. Got it!?”

Whew, I just dodged a bullet. But not for long.
