Chapter Love’ss 6
Chapter 6
After hanging up on Elena, Madelyn helped Andrew back to the bedroom. Then, she had a maid bring him his lunch. She remained cautious throughout the whole thing, and he just watched her.
He thought about how she had brandished a blade at him so that she could leave him. It had happened just yesterday. Why had she given up on such a good opportunity today?
“Open up.” Madelyn scooped a spoonful of his favorite dish, wanting to feed him. Seeing him frown, she continued, “You’re getting an IV drip, so let me feed you.”
She was going to feed him? They hadn’t even shared any meals since marrying. She hated him and never showed up when it was mealtime.
Andrew’s gaze darkened. He felt like he was dreaming. If he were to wake up from it…
“Come on. Open up.” Andrew hadn’t budged, and Madelyn’s hand was starting to tremble.
In the end, Andrew opened his mouth. She fed him carefully. She had changed so much in the course of one night that he couldn’t help asking coldly, “What do you want, Maddie?”
“I just want to have a happily–ever–after with you, darling.”
“You’re lying to me!”
“No, I’m not! I was wrong in the past, and I’ve turned a new leaf now. If I ever repeat what I did to you yesterday…” Madelyn choked up at that thought. Why had she treated him like that?
She thought about the things she had done to him in her past life. The events of yesterday were only the tip of the iceberg. She wanted to kill herself for everything the old Madelyn had done.
She took a deep breath and continued, “If that ever happens, I want you to kill me!”
Andrew didn’t say anything. His breathing hitched as their gazes met. The doubt in his eyes seemed to dissipate just a little, but the sorrow in Madelyn’s
eyes grew
She didn’t know how to tell him about her rebirth, but she definitely appreciated this chance from the heavens. She wouldn’t let Andrew down or harm him in this lifetime. She would do everything she could to love him and make up for causing his death in her past life.
Chapter
Suddenly, Andrew yanked Madelyn into his arms to kiss her, making her drop the spoon and cause a mess. She yelped in surprise and instinctively wanted to struggle, but the thought of his injury made her wrap her arms around his neck.
Her reaction made him lose his mind. Madelyn moaned and mumbled, “Watch out for your injury.”
He didn’t let her go. A while later
it became hard for her to breathe, he stopped
and pressed his forehead to hers. “I gave you a chance. Since you let it go, you have to stay by my side in the future.”
“Okay.” Madelyn smiled.
After that, the atmosphere became more lighthearted. Madelyn didn’t talk about her change in attitude, and Andrew didn’t ask about it. Even if this was a dream, he wouldn’t give it the chance to end.
Madelyn helped Andrew settle in bed. Then, she went downstairs. There, she saw Elena standing at the entrance and screeching at a maid, “How dare you stop me from entering!”
She was furious. She had always been able to come and go as she pleased, and the household staff had always treated her with respect. What was wrong with these new staff members? Once Madelyn was gone and she married Andrew, she would get rid of all the staff!
The maid stopping her from entering remained cold and resolute. “Mrs. Miller made it clear that Elena Garcia and bitches are not allowed to enter.”
“What?” Elena’s face twisted with rage. “How dare you compare me to a dog!”
Did she say this was on Madelyn’s orders? How was that possible? She refused to believe it! Madelyn wanted nothing more than to leave Andrew. How could she be willing to stay? Andrew had to be threatening her.
Madelyn was probably waiting for her to devise more plans so that she could leave Andrew. With that thought in mind, Elena stood straighter. “Mr. Miller is the one who wants to see me. You’ll be in trouble if you delay me.”
“Mr. Miller said we’re only to obey Mrs. Miller’s commands,” the maid said.
Madelyn, who was now in the foyer, was taken aback when she heard this. Then, she smiled sweetly.
Elena saw her. Her expression turned ugly when she thought about what the maid had told her. She put on an imperious look and asked, “Aren’t you going to explain this, Maddie?”
Clapés
Madelyn better not have said those things!
Hearing that, Madelyn looked up. “Didn’t you hear the maid? You and bitches are not allowed to enter!”
Elena’s jaw dropped. She stared at Madelyn in disbelief, her chest heaving as her breathing sped up. “How dare you! You’ve gone too far!”
She didn’t expect Madelyn to actually issue such an order. about to have an aneurysm from her anger.
She felt like she was
Madelyn’s smile faded, and her gaze turned cold. This change made Elena sense a hint of danger. She subconsciously wanted to back away, but it was too late. In the next second, Madelyn kicked her in the gut. She groaned and curled up on the ground while clutching her stomach.
Madelyn approached her and crouched to grip her neck. “Tell me who gave you the medication.”
“W–What do you mean?” Elena held Madelyn’s wrist tightly as she made a last–ditch attempt to get away. She glanced at the maid who was watching them stoically, then tried to search for any flaws in Madelyn’s expression. She didn’t notice anything, though.
Despite that, she still lowered her voice and asked, “Andrew must be threatening you‘ with something, right?”
Madelyn punched her face, making her head spin. Madelyn was about to swing another punch when Elena grabbed her wrist. “I have a way to help you get away from Andrew. You won’t see him ever again!”
Madelyn broke free and punched her again. “Tell me who gave you the medication!”
Only then did Elena realize this wasn’t an act. Madelyn wasn’t going to leave Andrew anymore. She gnashed her teeth at Madelyn, but she was slapped before she could say anything. “Are you going to talk or not?”
The maid watching them couldn’t help feeling frightened. Not only did Madelyn have a bad temper, but she was also rather violent.
Madelyn beat Elena until she was black and blue, but she still didn’t say anything about the medication. In truth, Elena didn’t know what it would do either. She only thought it would make Andrew’s wound fester.
Once Andrew found out the medication had been tampered with, he would kick Madelyn out. Elena thought it was a foolproof plan, but it seemed now that things. weren’t going the way she expected.
Chapter 6
Madelyn stood up and looked contemptuously at Elena. “Sooner or later, I’ll get to the bottom of this. Now, fuck off!”
“You’ll regret this, Madelyn!” Elena glared daggers at Madelyn, finally ripping off her fake act of kindness and gentleness. She looked like she wanted to kill Madelyn.
Madelyn turned away and said mockingly, “Clean this place up.”
“Yes, Mrs. Miller.” The maid nodded respectfully.
Elena’s blood boiled as she watched Madelyn leave. She couldn’t figure out what exactly had gone wrong. Andrew was hers–he had to be! Madelyn had to go!
The maid stepped forward and asked perfunctorily, “Should I call you an ambulance, Ms. Elena?”
“Fuck off!” Elena felt even more humiliated by this. She ha never been treated like this before. How dare Madelyn!
Rowan was still around. When he saw Madelyn, he remembered what Ivan had said. He gave her a displeased gaze.
Madelyn approached him. “Where’s the medication that Dr. Patel prescribed?”
“I’ll tend to Mr. Miller’s wound from now on,” he said coldly.
Fine, then. Madelyn knew there was no chance of making Andrew’s men believe her just yet. She didn’t push the matter and turned to head upstairs.
Rowan was taken aback. Was she going to just accept that without a fight?
