Love’s Second Act by Alvis Midden

Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Hurting badly, Natalie raised her hand and delivered a resounding slap on Calvin’s face. In an instant, the already confined space became even more stilling

Calvin’s hand gripping her jawbone was currently wrapped around her slender n*eck and his voice car

You’ve been acting extremely strangely all day. Explain yourself

Right now, Calvin finally realized that Natalie was not playing games

Natalie had always been composed and sensible. If she were merely upset, she would not have caused such a scene at Cay Hall after he already disregarded her morning tantrum carlict.

She held his wrist and locked eyes with him. “City Hall closes in 20 minutes. Let’s go in and deal with the paperwork first.”

“Natalie!” Calvin roared, his breath erratic as he struggled to maintain his composure.

Natalie exerted a strong pull to yank his hand away and attempted to shove him, but he didn’t move an inch, causing her to shoot him an irked glare.

Ultimately, Calvin lost all patience and resolved to escort her home straight away.

After everything that had transpired today, there was no way he could go to work now.

On their way back, the driver, seemingly rattled by fear, drove ada speed that varied unpredictably. It was evident that Calvin’s intense anger was palpable to those sharing the ride with him.

Upon arriving home, Natalie settled on the couch while Calvin took a seat across from her. “Can we talk now?”

“There’s nothing to talk about,” she responded, fluding it meaningless.

“For the past six months, everyone in Quadfield knows he has been fooling around with his personal assistant, but has he ever given me any explanation?” she sneered to herself

Calvin’s piercing, eagle-like gaze bore into Natalie like sharp knives.

Natalie turned her head away, refusing to look at Calvin, who was now visibly enraged as veins bulged on his forehead. Sadly, her indifferent demeanor only served to intensify the threatening glare of the man seated opposite her

“Natalie, no man from the Jeffords family has ever gotten a divorce. They only become widowed.”

Natalie’s b*dy shook for a bit.

She gazed at him with incomprehensible conflict and wrath, thinking. “So… that was why he burned me to death in the last life

Coldness flashed across her eyes. “Very well. Then, either become the first in your family’s history to break that tradition or diet

Calvin was at a loss for words.

He stood up, exuding an iry aura as he looked down at Natalie.

Calvin, who radiated the authority of a king, exuded an overwhelming air of oppression at this moment.

Natalie held his gaze fearlessly her exasperating expression testing his patience to its nut. At last, Calvin was the first to cave and turn his back to her.

If he were to carry on with the conversation, he might actually lose his cool and strangle bet to death

To 13 Mon, Feb 5

Chapter 3

Natalie stared at his perfectly symmetrical back. Even though it was just a back view, it had once provided her with an ummense sense of security

Alas, things were differem now, “Wait up,”

Natalie stopped him

Calvin paused in his tracks and said without turning around. Take all the time you need to calm down. Don’t call me until you’re ready to have a proper conversation.”

Thinking of the reactions of those people in the conference room, he seriously wished he could pry her skull open to read her mind

Never in a million years did he imagine she would ask for a divorce. After all, she had never asked a thing despite all the rumors circulating for the past six months, yet now, out of nowhere, she was demanding a divorce!

He was about to leave again when Natale spoke up once more. “If you dare to step out of this door today, I will take Brianna with me to find that woman in the afternoon. Her name’s Yvette Maddox, am I right!”

This time, Calvin was thoroughly annoyed

The moment he turned around to face Natalie, he almost seemed ready to devour her in a rage

Natalie also stood up, arms crossed, and met Calvin’s gaze head-on, knowing that getting a divorce today was impossible

DOW

Regardless. Yvette was going to be kidnapped tomorrow, and since Natalie could not secure a divorce, the latter would do everything to make Calvin stay with her today, no matter what.

That way, if blame had to be placed, it would not be solely Natalie’s fault. “Since he’s the one who started all this, he shall bear the consequences, too,” she mused.

“You’re really something. Natalie”

He thought furiously, “She even dares to threaten me now. What an undisciplined and insensible woman!”

Likewise!” Natalie retorted.
