Chapter 77
Chapter 77
“I simply have a genuine affection for Leo without any ulterior motives. Don’t read too much into it.”
Caroline made a simple explanation.
How could it be just a simple liking?
Which woman could accept someone else’s child so easily?
Unless…
When he thought of a possibility, Quintin was shocked by his own guess.
Was it possible that Caroline was Leo’s biological mother?
Otherwise, why would she protect Leo so many times after she came to the Ziegler family?
She even offended the Queen family for the sake of Leo.
Besides a mother, who else would act so selflessly?
Quintin continued to guess. If Caroline was Leo’s biological mother, what did that mean?
Was she the Macy from five years ago?
“Is it she the woman I’ve been looking for?” Quintin wondered deep down.
With this conjecture, Quintin’s heart suddenly pounded wildly. This conjecture was too shocking.
Could Caroline be Macy?
In order to verify his guess, Quintin asked again, “Caroline, tell me the truth. Are you Leo’s biological mother? Are you Macy?”
After posing this question, Quintin’s heart was pounding, and his breath was almost stagnant. He desperately wanted to hear
her confess.
Caroline did not expect him to guess it, but she did not want to tell him the truth.
“What Macy? I don’t know what you’re talking about. I said that I just like Leo. Are you thinking too much?”
She didn’t know about Macy?
Nor did she admit that she was Macy!
Could it be that he had guessed wrongly?
Hearing her answer, a sense of disappointment welled up in his heart.
After all these years, Quintin couldn’t find Macy anywhere. He had no idea where she was or what had happened to her. Every time he discovered a tiny lead, it would eventually be ruled out, leaving him back at square one.
The repeated disappointments felt like needles piercing his heart, causing him to ache with pain.
“Never mind, just forget what I said. Regardless, thank you for being kind to my son,” Quintin replied, his tone filled with gratitude.
“When we divorce, I’ll give you a handsome reward.”
Hearing his words, Caroline did not reply.
Mayson woke up in the middle of the night and found Caroline in front of him. He also noticed Quinton sitting in the wheelchair beside them.
Quintin was also asleep. The room was very quiet. He had already finished his IV drip and wanted to pee.
Mayson didn’t wake Caroline up. He got out of bed and ran to the toilet.
Caroline seemed to have sensed something and suddenly woke up.
She looked up and realized that the bed was empty. The child was gone. She exclaimed, “Where’s Mayson? Mayson is gone!”
Quintin was also awakened. Hearing her call, he asked, “What’s missing? What’s Mayson?”
Quintin thought that she was looking for something like a charger.
Caroline came to her senses and realized that she had let it slip. She changed her words and said, “I said, why did Leo disappear?”
“Leo is missing?”
Chapter 77
Caroline got up and started searching, while Quintin was startled awake and was also eager to help find Leo. However, due to his current circumstances, he couldn’t physically search and could only assist by calling out, “Leo? Leo?”
Caroline ran out of the ward and went straight to the nurse’s desk. She asked the nurse on duty, “Did you see the child in bed. 102? Did any child run out?”
The nurses shook their heads to indicate that they didn’t see anything. They also began to help search.
Was Mayson awake?
Did he leave after waking up, or did someone take him away?
Caroline did not dare to think further. She even asked the nurse to help her retrieve the surveillance footage from the computer room.
In addition, she ran back to the ward to find her bag and phone and planned to inform Riley to bring people to help.
But when she ran back to the ward, she found the child sitting on the bed.
“Caroline? Is that you? Leo is back!” Quintin said.
Seeing her son appear again, Caroline was relieved. She quickly walked in and touched Leo’s face.
“Where did you go just now? I couldn’t find you anywhere!”
Mayson pointed in the direction of the bathroom. Only then did Caroline know that the child had only gone to pee. She thought that he had been taken away.
She pulled her son into her arms and hugged him for a while. Soon, the head nurse and a few nurses ran over to ask about the situation.
“Have you found the child in bed 102?”
“Yes. Thank you for just now!”
Seeing that the child was safe and sound, the head nurse and the others left the ward.
As the night wore on and morning approached, Caroline remained vigilant by her son’s side without closing her eyes
even a moment.

The next morning, the doctor came to examine Mayson and proved that he was fine. Only then did Caroline feel relieved.
After a night passed, there were two new pieces of news in Jipsdale.
One news reported the incident of Jeremiah, the Vice President of Lewis Group, causing a disturbance and vandalizing a hotel last night. The other news piece exposed an alleged scandal involving Seth, the CEO of Lewis Group.
It was all negative news. There were a lot of complaints online, causing Lewis Group’s shares to fall quite a bit.
Harry felt like he was going bald from the stress, as he couldn’t come up with a better solution to salvage the situation.
He called Caroline, but the latter’s phone was switched off.
Around 10 o’clock in the morning, several elites from Mysterious Domain arrived in Jipsdale, including Luke Bay, Kerr Davis, and George Yale. They rushed to the hospital without delay.
These three individuals were all experts from Mysterious Domain and trusted subordinates of Quintin. Upon seeing Quintin, Luke, Kerr, and George all bowed respectfully in unison.
“Sir! We’re late!”
“Hmm, from today onwards, just like Flynn, call me Mr. Ziegler and stay in Jipsdale! I have a mission for you!”
“Yes!”
Quintin told them to investigate everything that had happened during this period of time.
He brought a few people back to the ward. Caroline found them new and guessed that they were Quintin’s people, so she did not ask.
After helping the child with the discharge procedures, they returned to the Ziegler residence together.
When he returned to the Ziegler residence, he saw Michael and learned that the fire had been put out last night. Fortunately, aside from some furniture being destroyed, there were no casualties.
However, the dog, Milo, which Catherine had kept in the yard, was missing.
“Did the police come? What did they say?” Quintin asked.
“The police came to take statements, and they also conducted a site investigation. Based on their preliminary assessment, it seems that the fire was likely caused by natural combustion due to aging electrical wiring,” Michael responded.
“Aging electrical wiring?

“How could it be so coincidental?” he thought.
When he arrived at the main hall, Carmen and Amelia were talking about the fire last night.
Seeing that Quintin and the others had returned, Carmen pretended to be concerned and asked, “Quintin, is Leo alright?
How is it?”
“Fortunately, he was lucky enough not to be burned to death.”
“It’s good that he’s fine! You scared us!” Carmen said.
Amelia remained silent, but her thoughts were racing. She couldn’t help but think that if the little troublemaker, Leo, had been burned to death, it would have solved everything. Unfortunately, he survived unscathed!
After saying that. Quintin said to Michael, “Go and call all the people in charge of my grandmother.”
“Yes!”
Michael quickly gathered a few servants in the main hall. “Mr. Ziegler, I’ve called everyone. There are a total of six valets and
nannies.”
“Who was in charge of Mrs. Ziegler last night? Quintin asked again.
“It’s Rain.”
“Where did Rain go when there was a fire last night?”
The maid called Rain explained in fear, “Mr. Ziegler. I had a stomach ache last night and went to the toilet. When I came back later, I found out that there was a fire.”
“How could it be such a coincidence? When there was a fire, you had a stomachache? Who can prove that you really had a stomachache?”
Quintin did not believe that there would be a sudden fire, especially when his son was alone in the house.
“Alfred can help me prove it. He was on duty,” Rain said.
Alfred stood out from the crowd and said. “That’s right, Mr. Ziegler. When I was on duty last night, I met Rain twice. She did have a stomachache and kept running.”
“What about Milo? Didn’t my grandmother have a dog? Can’t a dog bark?”
“Milo is missing. We’re looking for Milo, too, Michael said.
Quintin could only listen to what they were saying but couldn’t see their expressions or observe subtle microexpressions. Caroline stared at their expressions. She could tell that the two of them did not seem to be lying.
If the fire was indeed intentional, then it would suggest that someone deliberately used a diversion to lure Rain and Milo
away.
Without further information or evidence, it was difficult to determine the exact motive.
Was the mole here for Leon?
Who could have done this?
Could it be the same person who released the venomous snake before?
