Chapter 41
“Ms. Lewis, this way to the study, please.” Samuel was a little intimidated by her and quickly made an inviting gesture. Caroline then followed him to the study.
Seeing that her husband had agreed to talk privately to Caroline, Yasmin cried out in frustration, “Honey, what are you doing? Why can’t you talk to her here? Do you have to go into the study with that woman?”
*Enough! Wait for me here!” Samuel reprimanded her before turning around and taking Caroline to the study.
Yasmin was about to explode with rage as she watched the two of them walk into the study one after another. She wondered, “What the hell is Caroline up to? What does she have to talk about with my husband? What happened on June 22nd, ten years ago?
In the study, Samuel looked less aloof and arrogant than usual. Instead, he seemed a little nervous even. His tone was also mixed with a hint of warning as he asked. “Ms. Lewis, what exactly do you mean?”
“Chief Queen, you understood what I meant after listening to what I said. I’m sure you know what you’ve done and where you were on June 22nd, ten years ago, right?”
She received an anonymous text message telling her what had happened ten years ago.”
Caroline grimaced and continued, “If I told the police everything you’ve done, what do you think would be the result? So now you tell me whose name will really be smeared?”
Samuel had already been panic–stricken. He had no clue how much she knew about that. If she were truly aware of what he had done ten years ago and went public with that information, his entire career and reputation would be ruined.
“Don’t you dare!” He gritted his teeth.
“Why wouldn’t I dare? I’ve got nothing to lose. I’m only a nobody whose reputation was ruined by Mrs. Queen, and I know my reputation is nothing compared to your high power and status, Chief Queen.”
Caroline’s gaze grew colder as they faced each other for a moment. Samuel warned weakly. “If you dare to go public with this, I’ll make you bear the consequences! You won’t also get to leave my house today!”
Slam!
Caroline pounded the table hard and yelled, “Chief Queen!”
A murderous aura covered her. “You should understand the Queen residence is now stepping all over me and demanding me to apologize. How is this even logical? And you’re now threatening me with my life! Do you really think I’m a pushover just because I’m a woman? Since I came unarmed, it’s already a sign that I’ll put death behind me! So, why would I be afraid of the Queen residence? Why would I be afraid of you, Samuel?”
She continued, “Samuel, in your career as a government official over the years, you’ve been acting in the name of incorruptibility. I’m curious how the public will react when they find out you’re hiding more than 20 million dollars in cash behind a certain wall in your study. Where did you get the cash? Should I list out your sources for you?”
Before coming to the Queen residence, Caroline had already done enough research on Samuel’s wrongdoings to gain leverage over him.
That way, he could no longer be arrogant around her.
Samuel gaped, dumbfounded, his eyes filled with shock, and a cold sweat broke out on his forehead.
He was terrified of Caroline now and curious to know who was backing her up.
He was shocked that she knew how much money he hid behind the secret wall in his study.
This was her psychological tactic, and Caroline knew she had the upper hand.
She added, “Clief Queen, don’t worry. I’m not here to expose you, and I won’t go public with anything because I’m not interested in doing so.”
“Then, what are you trying to get from this?” Samuel asked.
“I’ll repeat myself. Your wife and son had bullied Leon, and I want them to come to the Ziegler residence and apologize. Chief Queen, I also want you to pull the plug on Quinton Corporation. I guarantee you can continue to be a chief, and even your future will flourish. Otherwise…”
Left with no way out and torn between the pros and cons, Samuel solemnly said after a moment, “Okay! Deal!”
They opened the door to the study, and Yasmin almost fell inside as she leaned against the door, wanting to find out what was going on inside for fear that Caroline would seduce her husband.
“Honey, what did she tell you?” Yasmin asked nervously, pulling her husband away from Caroline.
Samuel said. “I’ve heard everything from Ms. Lewis. This is indeed your fault. Why don’t you teach our son the right thing to do as he’s out there bullying other people? And your insolent remarks just make things worse. That’s why I’ve decided for

you to bring our son over to the Ziegler residence later to apologize!”
“What did you say? Are you telling me to go and apologize to them?”
Yasmin looked utterly bewildered as if she had been struck by lightning.
“Chief Queen. I’ll leave you guys alone and head back first.” Caroline brushed past Yasmin with her back straightened.
As she walked through the living room, everyone in the Queen residence watched her leave, but no one dared to stop her from leaving.
After Caroline left, Yasmin started throwing a tantrum. “Honey, explain yourself! What did she sell you on? Didn’t you say you were going to help me? How could you ask me to go and apologize to them?”
“Stop messing around, and just do it! I don’t want to hear any more nonsense from you!” he reprimanded.
“Fine! I get it now! That cunning woman must have said something to you. Did you two have a shameful underground relationship? Tell me!” Yasmin grabbed Samuel by the collar and shook him.
Samuel pulled his wife away and raised a hand, slapping her across the face. Yasmin was dumbfounded after being hit.
“Did you just slap me?” she asked in disbelief.
“Calm down and stop getting me into trouble! She’s got something against me that could tank my career and reputation. If you don’t want me to be dragged down, you should hurry up and apologize to them!”
Yasmin was taken aback after hearing that and was too shocked to say anything else, as she didn’t expect that Caroline would have what it took to go against her husband. Moreover, her husband was now so intimidated by Caroline.
Meanwhile, outside the gate of the Queen residence, Caroline stepped out from inside.
Seeing that she came out unharmed, Flynn quickly rushed over and greeted her, “Ms. Lewis!*
“Mr. Xander, what brings you here?” she asked.
“Mr. Ziegler is worried about you, so he told me to come to take a look. How did things go? Did they give you a hard time?” Flynn asked.
“They didn’t. The Queen residence was kind to me.”
Flynn assumed the insider information Quintin told him to send had played a role in this, so he said, “That’s good to know. Ms. Lewis, please get inside the car. I’ll drive you back.”
“No, thanks. There’s someone I have to see. You may go ahead.”
After she finished saying that, Caroline glanced at the Bentley parked not too far away from them. She got inside, and the car quickly drove away.
Flynn’s eyes widened as he stared in her direction, and he was a little dumbfounded. The car looked expensive. He wondered who came to pick up Caroline and who she was going to meet after this.
Flynn returned to the Ziegler residence and reported everything to Quintin. After hearing that, Quintin asked in a weird tone. “Are you saying that after she left the Queen residence, she told you she was meeting someone else and then got into a Bentley?”
“That’s right, Mr. Ziegler!”
“Was it a tall, handsome young man who picked her up?”
“Yes, you’re right.”
Quintin fell silent. He got reminded of Caroline telling him she liked younger men, and he wondered if she was out on a date with a young and handsome hunk.
If that man could afford to drive a Bentley around, he must be someone rich too.
Anger surged in his heart when he thought of that, and he felt like he was being cheated on.
“Why didn’t you follow them?” Quintin asked in an irritable tone.
