Chapter 30
“Mrs. Ziegler, Ms. Xydias didn’t exactly state the incident properly. The truth is, I hit her because she saw Leo being bullied and didn’t help Leo. Don’t you think she deserves a beating?”
“Somebody bullied Leo. When did it happen?”
Catherine could not keep calm when hearing her great–grandson being bullied.
“Leo was teased and bullied by his classmates after school. Ms. Xydias just watched and did nothing to protect Leo. I hit her just to teach her a lesson!” Caroline explained.
“Really? Sav, how can you just stand there and watch Leo being bullied as his nursery teacher?” Catherine asked.
Carmen defended her niece and said, “Mom, I think there’s got to be something behind this. Sav adores Leo so much that it’s impossible for her to stay silent when he’s being bullied. It’s not fair to Sav if you only listen to Caroline.”
Savannah puckered. “Carmen is right. It’s true that Leo was being bullied, but I confronted that woman. I could have sorted it out, but Caroline stepped in and offended Mrs. Queen.”
“Which Mrs. Queen?” Carmen asked.
“Who else could it be? She’s the wife of Samuel, the Chief Minister of Jipsdale, and a prominent member of Lilac Club. Mrs. Queen’s son happens to be in the same class as Leo.”
Savannah took the opportunity to let Catherine know how much trouble Caroline caused.
Carmen was very surprised upon hearing this. “Oh no, this is not good at all! Nobody can mess with Mrs. Queen! The Ziegler family is in the business industry. We can’t afford to offend the Queen residence!”
As the saying goes, people should not fight with officials. However, the Ziegler family was the head of the five Jipsdale families and played a pivotal role in the entire Chanaca. They were still in the business industry after all. Offending the political leaders would certainly have a negative effect on the development of the Ziegler family group.
“Yes, Aunt Melissa. I tried to persuade her the same way, but she wouldn’t listen and beat up Mrs. Queen in public.” Savannah snitched.
Carmen looked horrified. “Beat up? Caroline Lewis hit Mrs. Queen? Is it true?”
“Of course it’s true! I have the video of her hitting Mrs. Queen!”
Savannah played the video and showed it to Catherine and Carmen.
“Oh my! This is outrageous!”
Carmen saw the way Caroline punched Yasmin, and was indignant. “Mom, she actually punched Mrs. Queen. What should we do? The Ziegler family will be in trouble if the Queen residence gets serious about this!”
Catherine had seen the video and understood the incident. “Caroline, although it’s right for you to protect Leo, you should not beat up Mrs. Queen in public. This is not appropriate!”
Savannah repeated, “That’s right. I confronted Mrs. Queen at that time, and I wanted her to apologize. After all, the child was only playing around. However, Caroline wound up on the other end, slapping people in the face and disregarding the consequences! So many people were watching! Mrs. Queen would be ashamed, right?”
Carmen continued, “Now what? She’d already done it. And now the Ziegler family is in serious trouble!”
Caroline knew that she had made a mistake today, but she had no regrets.
She did it for her son.
A mother would not be able to confront someone calmly when her son was being laughed at and called crazy, retarded, dumb, and bastard.
Caroline desperately wanted all the people who bullied her son to suffer.
She had no regrets for her son even if it meant that she was going to hell.
Caroline told Catherine, “Mrs. Ziegler, I’ve spoken to Mrs. Queen. I’ve asked her to come to the Ziegler residence tomorrow and personally apologize to Leo! But if she doesn’t come, or if it’s an issue for the Ziegler family, I’ll take care of it. I’m responsible for everything that happens to the Ziegler family and I won’t involve the family! I’ll take Leo back first!”
Caroline picked up Leon to leave while Savannah interrupted, “Hey! Caroline Lewis, you didn’t say you were sorry for hitting me today!”
Caroline stopped and looked back at her coldly. Tm already going easy on you with two slaps! You’re not fit to be a nursery teacher! From this day forward, Leo is no longer your responsibility, and I will take care of everything for him!”
Chapter 30
With these words, Caroline left without looking back, taking the children with her.
Savannah was stomping her feet behind her. Savannah believed that the Ziegler family was about to be overrun by Caroline ever since she arrived.
“Mrs. Ziegler, she’s so rambunctious. Aren’t you going to confront her?” Savannah asked.
Catherine sighed. “It’s good that she has the heart to take care of Leo. No matter how much trouble she causes for Leo, we, the Ziegler family, will take care of it! But you, on the other hand, should reflect on whether you’ve been a competent nursery teacher or not.”
Catherine walked away with a cane after saying that to Savannah.
Savannah then realized that in addition to not getting what she wanted, she also took the blame.
“Aunt Melissa…”
All she could do was turn to Carmen. Carmen said, “All right, I can tell you that Caroline will be causing more trouble. So just bear with it. She offended Mrs. Queen who’s not an easy person. She’ll be coming after her! We’ll just have to sit back and watch the show!”
“You’re right, Aunt Melissa!”
“Didn’t you take the video? Select the part where she hits Mrs. Queen and ask someone to post it! Let the world see what kind of person she is!”
“Okay! Then she’ll have to taste her own medicine!”
Caroline carried her son back to Tanglevine Residence and handed him to Susan. She said to Leon, “Leo, let Susan help you wash your hands. Mommy’s going to see Daddy.”
Leon now knew that Mommy would not leave him. Thus he obeyed her and followed Susan.
Caroline arrived outside the master bedroom and overheard a voice in the room.
“Quintin, are you any better? I should’ve come and seen you sooner…”
The voice belonged to David of the Ziegler family. Caroline wondered why he came to visit Quintin after all these days at home.
“No need for your hypocrisy!”
Quintin’s attitude angered David a bit. David reminded him in a deep voice, “I’m your father!”
“You still know that you’re my father? I thought you were just the father of Yadriel and Roxanne!“
Hearing his son’s sarcastic remarks, David was tingled in the heart but felt powerless to explain. “Can you talk to me properly? I know you still blame me for what happened 18 years ago, but can you just let it go?”
“How can I let go? Whether it’s ten or twenty years, I’ll never forget it!”
Quintin’s sensitive spot was triggered again. He protested, “Get out! Please get out of here! You’re no father to me!”
Caroline, who was outside, heard sounds of disagreement coming from inside. She was curious as to what the father and son were arguing about.
“What happened 18 years ago?” she asked inwardly.
