Love Until Death Do Us Part ( Athena Dempsey )

Chapter 30

Chapter 30

The cold rain was rat–a–tat–tatting on the windowpane, and despite the cramped room, the temperature was on the rise.

A white towel slid down Newman’s long legs and dropped at his feet.

Athena, with her hands propped behind her, had a few strands of jet–black hair falling over her chest

She licked her teeth, a teasing smile on her lips, unable to tear her gaze from the cartoon little yellow chicks.

Those little chicks, so adorably cute, were in stark contrast to Newman’s face, which was as

dark as a cast–iron skillet.

This time, Athena boldly grabbed her phone and snapped a pic of the scene right in front of her! Newman, caught in such cutesy undies, definitely deserved a photo or video souvenir.

When Newman hit old age and started getting forgetful, she’d whip out the pic to give him a little trip down memory lane.

“Athena! You’re asking for it!”

Newman pounced like a cheetah with its fur on end!

He didn’t bother picking up the towel on the floor; instead, he lunged at Athena to snatch her phone.

Athena spun around to run, but her ankle was caught by the man’s big hand, and she was dragged backwards onto the bed.

Clutching the edge of the bed, she turned her head and saw him pulling her legs back so hard, he nearly hoisted her foot onto his shoulder

Standing on the bed, he dropped her ankle and went for her arms.

“Newman, dream on!”

Athena raised her phone and hurled it towards the window.

With a “crash!” the window shattered, and her phone plummeted, cracking against the concrete below.

After violently destroying her phone. Athena had a triumphant grin on her face as she sat back up on the bed.

Locks of hair in disarray, her face framed with a few strands, lips red and teeth white, her fierce‘ eyes had a ruthless edge that made Newman want to ravage and wreck her.

“Newman, I’ve already synced the photo of your little yellow chicks to the cloud. If you don’t

want me to spread it everywhere, you better do as I say!”

Newman’s inner fury was awakened by Athena, and not even the cold wind pouring in through. the broken window could cool his boiling blood.

Breathing in the cold air, his muscular chest rose and fell with his breaths.

“Athena, you’re really something!”

His throat emitted a metallic tang as he pulled out his own phone and snapped a photo of Athena.

In the scuffle, her shirt buttons had come undone, revealing more than a little her body, all of which Newman had seen.

“Newman!”

Now it was Athena’s turn to go after Newman’s phone.

He handed it over willingly.

Once she had his phone, she asked, “What’s the passcode?”

“771023”

Newman didn’t mind Athena knowing his phone’s passcode because the photos in his gallery were already in the cloud- deleting them would be pointless.

Athena knelt on the tousled sheets. After she typed in the passcode, her vision blurred, and she could see nothing.

Head bowed, she trembled, “Is there any special meaning behind these numbers?”

Newman’s brow furrowed, “You don’t need to know.”

Athena tossed his phone aside, turned her face, and burrowed into the covers.

“Now we’re even! No more messing with each other!”

Hiding under the covers, tears fell unseen as she commanded, “Go downstairs and get my phone.”

Newman thought this golden girl of the Demsey family was a piece of work – spoiled, bossy, and always bossing people around!

He replied coldly, “After I dry my clothes.”

Athena yelled, “Come back and dry them later. With this downpour, you’ll get soaked even with an umbrella.”

Newman gritted his teeth.

The man in half–wet clothes headed out.

When he returned with Athena’s smashed phone, he found her sound asleep.

He scoffed mockingly.

With not even a chair in the room, Newman sat at the bed’s edge, unlocked his phone with his fingerprint, and saw the photo he’d taken of Athena.

Sheesh!

An eyeful, indeed!

He locked his phone again, crossed his arms, and closed his eyes.

After a while, Newman heard Athena’s murmuring in her sleep

“Newman?”

“Newman, please don’t.”

In her struggling dream. Athena reached out and grabbed Newman’s shirt, like a drowning person clinging to a lifeline.

Instinctively, he thought to push her hand away, but seeing the woman’s grip so tight her knuckles turned white, he let her be.

This woman still claimed she had no feelings for him? Her voice in the dream was dripping with allure.

Come morning, Athena woke to daylight.

Opening her eyes, she found the room empty.

Lifting her head, she saw her neatly folded clothes at the foot of the bed, and she began to unbutton her shirt.

As Newman entered, he caught sight of Athena shedding her shirt, her skin as pale and radiant as snow in the sunlight.

He froze, neither retreating nor advancing.

It wasn’t until Athena tossed the shirt over his face that his view was obscured.

By the time Newman removed the shirt, still warm with Athena’s scent, from his face, she had already wrapped herself in a coat.

“Newman, don’t you know you should knock when you enter?”

His tone indifferent, “I thought you were still asleep.”

Newman chucked his shirt back onto the bed, and Athena spotted him setting down a bag of milk and a bag of bread on the side table.

“Did you go grab breakfast?” Athena asked him.

“It was a freebie from the front desk.”

When Newman had gone downstairs earlier to hit up the front desk chick for some disposable

toiletries, not only did she deliver the goods, but she also threw in breakfast, claiming she bought it just for Newman.

Athena let out a chuckle, guessing that the breakfast was the front desk girl’s way of making a play for him.

She grabbed the toiletries and headed to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash up.

After a bit, Athena came back out and, seeing the breakfast still on the table, asked Newman, “Aren’t you gonna eat?”

Newman was all generosity. “You have it.”

Newman wasn’t about to dig into grub with a questionable backstory. He’d brought it up for Athena to enjoy.

Athena’s stomach was grumbling away, so she tore open a straw and jabbed it into the bag of milk. She took a sip and then said,

“Sugared? You definitely wouldn’t be into that.”

Newman’s eyes were like icy pools, giving her a frosty stare.

“How do you know I don’t drink sugared milk?”

Athena was puzzled.

Newman sneered, “Athena, I’d advise you not to get any funny ideas about me!”

Athena almost sprayed the milk right out of her mouth and onto Newman’s face!

Just then, Newman’s phone screen lit up. Athena caught a glimpse without meaning to and spotted the name “Yolanda“.
