Chapter 83 Epilogue
Rudrani:
I called him several times, but his mobile is switched off. For twelve hours I was restless and then on the TV, I have seen another news.
"The Prime Minister appreciates the young doctor Dr. Ashutosh for his efforts in bringing out the scam and his efforts in collecting the fund for the treatment of the people. The decision taken by the Prime Minister, with the initiation of Dr. Ashutosh would bring a revolutionary change in the health system of our nation."
Fund? Now I understood why he was angry with me for spending the money.
"Except for his hospital and house, Dr. Ashutosh has donated everything to establish the Health Care Fund of India. But, his contribution didn't stop there. He announced that every month he will be donating 30% of his earnings to the Fund. And this led to the major decision of our Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister announced that from now every person who earns more than one lakh should donate 10% of their earning to the Health Care Fund. This scheme would save the lives of many poor people. The Prime Minister has appointed a committee with Ashutosh as a member to eradicate the system of Corporate hospitals and provide the excellent treatment in the government hospitals. Soon, we can see a healthy India where the government takes care of the health of it's citizens.
This scheme was suggested by Dr. Vilok and Dr. Prerna who are the board members of the National Medical Council. As they found the misuse of funds by the Health Minister while collecting the Fund, they were brutally killed by the Minister hired killers."
"Now let's talk to Dr. Ashutosh."
"Mr. Ashutosh, do you really think this policy helps the poor?"
"Every idea seems illogical at the beginning, impractical in the middle, and worth it in the ending," Ashu said.
"Great answer. It's not easy to bring out the real face of the Health Minister out. It's risky. How could you do it?"
"I too never thought I can do it, but I tried. Meeting the Prime Minister is not that easy too. Enquiring about my parents death and knowing the real reason, talking to the Prime Minister, trapping the Health Minister, everything is really risky and troublesome. But, until the end, only one thing is in my mind i. e. Health system in India.
I know it's not easy, but it's definitely worth it. As a doctor, I felt saving the lives of those people is necessary. I decided to go any further to reach that goal. And today I have succeeded in making this policy implemented. However, there's a long way to go," Ashu said.
"Your words show your confidence and determination. Who is your inspiration?"
"My parents and my wife," Ashu said with a smile on his face.
"We know about your parents. Can we see your wife?"
"Sure," Ashu said and opened his wallet. He kept the photos of his parents and our wedding. He showed my photo to everyone. I can see proud on his face, but there's no embarrassment or any sort of inferiority for marrying me. "Is she an acid attack victim?" the reporter asked.
"No," Ashu replied.
"Those marks on her face shows she is the acid attack vicim."
"No. My wife is not an acid attack victim, but the acid attack survivor who challenged the fate and triumphed in her life. I am very proud of my wife and lucky to have Rudrani as my lifepartner," Ashu said.
"I don't understand why we call the girls who got raped or attacked by acid as victims. I am clearly stating
you that none of them want to be viewed as victims and are not in need of your sympathy.
Stop blaming them. Stop victimising them. Stop pitying them. They don't need it. They need encouragement. They need trust. They need respect. If you can't give this to them, then shut your mouth but never upset them," Ashu said. I clapped my hands unintentionally. Ashu is absolutely right, and he has given all those to me. That's why today this Rudrani is alive.
"You are the real hero," the reporter said, saluting him.
"Can we know more about your personal life and your wife?" the reporter asked.
"Rudrani is now a renowned Cardiothoracic surgeon. She is also sponsoring acid attack survivors as a part of our Prerna Foundation. Now Rudrani is the head of the foundation.
Coming to personal life, Rudrani is a loving wife. After losing my parents, I was depressed. She was the one who supported me and took care of me. Many times I have showed my frustration at her because of this tension. She never took it to her heart and kept loving me. As I suspected that these people may attack our family or friends, I stopped Rudrani from contacting her family and friends. Still she didn't question me. I avoided my wife for months to protect her. She never fought with me and her trust in me didn't waver even a bit.
In life, there will be times where our loved ones change all of a sudden and that hurts us so much. But instead of blaming them, if we can understand their stress or tension, the relationship becomes stronger. But, these days people lack patience and understanding. They can't take it when their loved ones say a word to them and that's enough for them to decide whatever they did for years is fake. This leads to either breakup of the relationship or to suicides. I am really happy that my wife didn't leave me but had borne all the frustration and there are moments where I took out my stress on her, still she took it silently shedding her tears but didn't blame me."
Ashu closed his eyes and I understood what he is talking about though the reporter didn't understand anything. Mom looked at me. Ashu opened his eyes and started speaking again.
"I am sorry, Rudrani. Those were the bitter moments of our life. Thank you for being with me, loving and supporting me. I love you so much," Ashu said.
"Sir, when you love your wife this much, how could you act love with Riya? Don't you think it's wrong to play with the feelings of a girl?" the reporter asked.
"Yes, it's wrong. But Riya know that I am married. Still she asked me to date with her. Everytime I have ruined the date with the help of my best friend, Ahmed and my wife, Rudrani.
I still remember the moment where she asked me to kiss. Though it's an action to prove the truth, I couldn't do it as I love my wife so much. I know how hurtful it is to see our lifepartner kissing someone else. I didn't kiss her but kept my fingers on her cheek and went closer to her. She closed her eyes and didn't realise it. The photo is shot by my friend so carefully and edited by him.
I did everything to prove the truth and also because Riya is the one who shot my mom. In Kurukshetra, Lord Krishna has preached Pandavas to cheat Kouravas to win the war. Deceiving the people who play with the lives of many people and for the good of many is justified. Killing a person is wrong, but we celebrate the killing of Ravana as the victory of good over the evil.
Here I want to tell you one thing. Riya didn't love me. She too acted to take over my hospital and this fund. I have installed a spy camera in the Health Minister's home through which I proved their reality. In that, you can also listen to the plan of Riya to kill me by pretending as if she loves me.
Today when I was about to leave, my wife couldn't leave my hand as she know that I may return alive or dead, and there's no guarantee. She finally allowed me to go because as a doctor she preferred the lives of the people to her happiness. Such a kind heart!" Ashu said.

"The last question, you have contributed your entire property to this fund. Do you think your wife will support this too? After all these days all relationships are of monetary based."
"My wife will answer it," Ashu said and took his mobile. I got the call from Ashu. I picked up the call.
"I love you, Ashu. I am very proud of you. And all I need is you. That's enough for me to be happy forever," I said happily.
Money is not everything and for me, Ashu is my everything.
"We love your bonding. You are a great couple," the reporter said, clapping for us.
"Ashu, you have a good news. Come fast," I said.
"I will be there soon," Ashu said and disconnected the call.
After two hours, Ashu came to me. I hugged him.
"I was so frightened when your mobile was switched off," I said, hitting him on his chest.
"I understand, my dear Tigress. But this is a hospital. You can show all your anger at me which you are holding for months at our home," Ashu said.
I smiled.
"What's the good news?"
"Your Rudrani is going to give you a gift which you can never forget within the next 7 months," I said.
Ashu looked at me for sometime as if he's thinking and then he looked at me with happiness.
"Are you pregnant?"
"Yes," I said, and Ashu kissed me on my forehead and cheeks.
"Ashu, this is a hospital," I said.
"I don't care. I am very happy. Love you, baby. Thank you so much," Ashu said.
Later on, we returned home. After 3 months, the Health Minister and his children were convicted. The policy established by the Prime Minister was criticised by the citizens as it's ridiculous to cut 10% of their salary every month. However, the policy was implemented strictly. Ashu and I contributed 30% of our earnings every month to the Fund.

One year passed by, and along with the growth of our baby, the policy is also implemented well. With Ashu's untiring efforts and the support of the Prime Minister, slowly the government hospitals were developed and the construction of new government hospital in every village took place. Health Ministry stopped permitting new private hospitals and slowly the doctors working in the private sector are recruited to the government hospitals. I am waiting for the day where there would be no private hospitals and the government takes care of the health of every citizen. A long way to go but yes, it's worth it.
Ashu came to me with our baby and kept hand over my shoulders. I smiled and took the baby "Ashrani" to my hands. Ashrani was the name given by Ashu to the baby.
"What are you thinking so deeply? You didn't even listen to baby's cry," Ashu said, asking me to feed her.
In many families, husband scolds wife if she neglects the baby, but here Ashu never scolds me. Instead, he tries to understand what's bothering me. I went inside the room to breastfeed my baby. Ashu phone rang and he picked it. "Hey Artika darling, how are you?" Ashu said.
Artika is a successful doctor in the US now and is a single mother. She didn't forgive that idiot and we supported her decision.
"Yes, Rudrani and baby are doing great. You forgot to ask about your best friend," Ashu said.
"That's funny. They will be fine as Ashu is here. But you should understand my situation with this angry Tigress Rudrani and now her baby too."
"Ashu," I said seriously.
"See, Rudrani is frightening me," Ashu complained to Artika in a childish manner.
I laughed at his acting. Ashu gave the call to me.
"Hi Artika, how are you sweetheart?" I said.
"I am superb sweety. I am coming to India in this month. If there's anyone in India for me, it's you both, Ahmed and Tina."
"Wow that's a great news. We will be waiting for you. Remember, you will be staying here at our home, and not anywhere else," I said.
"But Rudrani," Artika tried to say.
"You are staying here. That's it. I miss Varthan too," I said. Varthan is Artika's son.
"Okay," Artika agreed finally.
After a few days, we received Artika. She stayed here for three months and we enjoyed a lot. Artika became a good friend to me and Sanjay to Ashu. Ahmed married Tina and they are working in our hospital. Artika went to the US again as she settled there.
I laid on my bed and baby slept. Ashu came to me and looked at me.
"You are beautiful," Ashu said, and kissed me. I slept peacefully having my loving husband and cute baby beside me.
YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL. Yes, every person looks beautiful when they understand what's the true beauty. LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL. Yes, life becomes beautiful when you can overcome any challenge in the life without giving up on it. I am beautiful and my life is beautiful as I have realised these things before achieving this happiness.
