Love that heals

Chapter 42 Missing Ashu

Rudrani:

I went to Sanjay's home. Sanjay is not in a condition to listen to anything. I called the psychologist who was treating him. The doctor came and gave him an injection and Sanjay slept.

"Rudrani, you are doing a lot for your friend. I know what all a married woman goes through to take such a big decision. I appreciate your husband for supporting you. Sanjay will be normal soon," the doctor said suggesting me the tips to make him normal.

"Thank you, doctor," I said and the doctor left.

Sanjay's parents came to me.

"Rudrani, what happened to Sanjay? Why is he upset? Does he love anyone? We will convince the girl and will do anything for our son. Tell us the problem," aunty asked me.

"I will tell you the reason as soon as he becomes normal," I said.

"Madam, someone came for you," the maid said.

Is it Ashu?? I went hurriedly to downstairs. It's my mom.

"Mom," I said and my mom slapped me.

I looked at her in shock.

"What happened to you, Rudrani? Till now I thought your dad is wrong in restricting you without understanding. But now you are hurting your husband who can do anything for you. Rudrani, it's enough. Tell Sanjay's problem to his parents and immediately go to Ashu to get his forgiveness. Work to mend your relationship with Ashu before mending other's life. Go and get your luggage," Mom said seriously.

"No mom, Ashu permitted me to stay for two months. After two months, I will go to Ashu. I am sure my husband will understand me," I said.

"No one can understand you because you are a mystery. You are hurting everyone who loves you for your friend. I really wish that Ashu never forgives you for your stupidity," mom said and went off.

I sat on the sofa holding my head. I don't know why I am shedding tears now? Why everyone are saying I an wrong? If I say the problem of Sanjay, everyone may make fun of him. I can't do that. I am sure though Ashu is angry with me now, he will understand me if I explain him the reason.

I went to my room and opened gallery to view my Ashu's photos.

"I miss you, Ashu. I am really sorry."

I called Ashu. He disconnected the call. I called again.

"What?"

"I am sorry, Ashu. Please talk to me," I said slowly.

"I really don't understand how I loved you. You are making me mad. I am sure one day I will lose my patience and you will taste the bitterness. If you call me one more time, I will change my number," Ashu said.

"I am sorry. I won't call again," I disconnected the call.

I miss him. I planned a surprise confession for him but everything was ruined now. I didn't even confess to him properly.

Mom, dad and Ashu everything thinks I am wrong. There are many people who act as friends and leak the secrets of their friends and help others to gossip on them. Many believe that revealing secrets of a friend to their family is not wrong but I strongly believe that a true friend never shares his friend's secrets with anyone. As a friend, doctor and human, I am right.

Marriage should add few more relationships and some more love to our life but shouldn't break our relationship with others. As a wife and daughter in law, I have few rules and responsibilities but doesn't I have any responbilities as a human or a friend? In the case of a girl, after marriage she will stay away mostly from every friendship and everyone justifies it in the name of sacrificing her life for her husband and children. Why should a woman sacrifice everything for her family? Is sacrificing the only duty of a woman? Doesn't she have any other role other than being a wife, daughter in law or mother?

My head started aching for thinking about unanswered questions from ages. My mom slapped me and dad refused to talk to me. After seeing the reaction of everyone about my decision, I understood that the only one who can understand me is my husband, Ashutosh.

Ashu thinking is very different. He is patient, understanding and loving. I don't bother about this society or my parents but I am worried about mending my relationship with my Ashu. If he and my inlaws understands me, I am not bothered about anyone else.

I calmed myself and focused on my books. One month passed by hardly and very slowly as I am permitted to see or contact Ashu. As I am unable to control myself, I called Ashu many times in this one month but everytime he disconnected my calls and switched off his mobile. I understood why he asked me to not call him as long as I am away from him. Many times I cried missing him and tried to meet him at his college but he didn't speak to me though I was happy to see him. After a month, college management sent the students who were selected for scholarship and I didn't find my name in the list. I enquired about it and the management said scholarship is meant for poor meritorious students but as I am the daughter in law of rich inlaws, I am ineligible for scholarship. I went to the hospital and applied for advance of my salary. After two days, I went to know the progress of my application.

"Sorry madam, your application for advance salary was declined," the clerk said.

"What but why?"

"We don't know madam. Ashutosh sir denied your application and told to ask you to meet him if you have any questions," the clerk said. "Okay, is Ashu, I mean Ashutosh sir available now?"

"Yes madam, sir is in his cabin."

I went to Ashu's cabin but attender stopped me saying Ashu is busy with his friends. I gave a slip with my name and gave it to the attender.

"Madam, sir told you to wait, he can't meet now," the attender said.

I sat on the chair and after one hour Ashu called me into his cabin.

"Ashu, I need to talk to you personally," I said looking at his friends.

"I am your MD and I think you should call me as sir. I don't have personal secrets with an employee working in ny hospital and if you want to speak, you can tell me before my friends," Ashu said with a strict expressions which can scare anyone. "Sir, why did you deny my advance salary application?"

"Are you questioning your boss? I can do what I feel is right," Ashu said seriously.

"Sir, I didn't mean to question you but I want to know the reason, please," I said slowly.

"R.. E.. A.. S.. O.. N.. It's confidential and I can't leak it," Ashu said with a smirk.

"Please," I requested.

"What?"

"Please sir, I need money immediately. I will repay within two months from my salary," I said almost in a choked tone.

I am seeing a different Ashu who was scary and strict.

"Why do you need the money?" Ashu asked me.

"I need to pay my term fees," I replied.

"What about your scholarship?"

"Management said that I am ineligible for the scholarship as I am the daughter in law of rich in laws," I said.

"Then why can't you ask money from your in laws or husband instead of requesting me? Is your ego stopping you?"

"It's self respect and not ego," I said immediately.

"Whatever I can't sanction advance salary. You can leave," Ashu said.

"Please sir, if you decline my application, I can't pay this term fees," I requested.

"What should I do? It's your problem. I am not concerned with it. Stop irritating me and get out from my cabin," Ashu shouted at me.

My eyes filled with tears but my legs didn't move an inch. I understood what's going to happen to me when I return to my home.

"What if I ask you to give up your dream for me and only then I will allow you to come back?" Ashu asked making me shiver at once. "You can't do that," I said.

"That's not the answer, Rudrani. Think and tell me," Ashu said as if he is really serious. What does he mean by asking me to give up on my career? Does he really mean it? "Why?" I asked.

"Reason is very simple. I can't allow my wife to go and stay in the house of others saying she prioritizes the life of a person over her married life saying she is a doctor. So I want you to stay at home rather than becoming a doctor. Less freedom gives you more chances to think about you, your husband and family."
