Love or Leave Behind Novel

Chapter 13

chapter 13

Jenner noticed that shelmaine didn’t seem very happy. “What’s wrong? Did you have a fight with your husband?”

“We’re divorced,” shelmaine replied emotionlessly.

Jennifer was taken aback. “Oh, that’s sudden. I didn’t know you two were divorced.”

“It’s fine. It doesn’t matter.”

Jennifer tried to make amends. “But when I called him, he said he’d come over soon and didn’t mention anything about a divorce. I thought you two were okay. I never expected it to come to this.”

At that moment, Samuel knocked on the ward door and walked in

Jennifer and Samuel weren’t very close and had only met a few times. She was surprised to learn that shelmaine had divorced him, so the situation felt a bit awkward. Meanwhile, Shelmine didn’t want to see Samuel at all she turned her face away, pretending not to notice, and looked elsewhere.

“You two can talk I’ll step outside for a bit. Jennifer felt that even though they were divorced, Samuel had still shown up for Shelmaine, which surely meant that he still cared about her.

jennifer assumed there was some misunderstanding and that their divorce might have been a result of a momentary impulse. Perhaps there were still some feelings left between them.

There were other patients in the ward, and Shelmaine’s bed was at the far end. She stared out the window, deliberately avoiding looking at Samuel Samuel approached the bedside. His expression gave nothing away as he said, “Your friend called me saying you fainted. Are you feeling unwell?”

Shelmaine did not respond directly. Instead, she said, “My friend didn’t know about our divorce and called you without my permission.

“There won’t be a next time. Sorry about that” Her tone was cold and detached. After all, she didn’t want Samuel to think she was trying to gain his attention through pity. Samuel said nothing and simply took a seat. Then, with an indifferent gaze, he said, “Let’s talk.”

“Do you want to talk about Natasha or the house?” Shelmune asked

Both issues were related to Natasha, so there wasn’t much difference.

“You’re asking obvious questions,” Samuel replied.

shelmaine closed her eyes and felt a bump in her throat. So, he wasn’t here to visit her but mainly to discuss Natasha

She scoffed. “What do you want me to do?

“You can tell me what you want. I’ll make it up to you. I’ll buy the house.”

Shelmaine bit her Ep and turned to face Samuel, trying to hold back her tears. Her eyes were red as she asked, “What’s your relationship with Natasha?

Samuel frowned slightly at her question, looking displeased and clearly unwilling to explain.

Shelmaline continued, “Did I interfere with your relationship? When we got married, you didn’t tell me you had someone in your heart.

“Samuel, why did you come after me when you clearly had someone else?”

“She has nothing to do with our divorce, Samuel simply replied.

“Do you expect me to believe that? Or do you think I’m easy to fool?”

Samuel’s brows furrowed deeper, and his gaze grew colder, but he still did not offer an explanation

Shelmaine’s eyes were redder now,

She was not someone who cried easily. In fact, she had never shed tears no matter what had happened in her past. But now, she was struggling to control her emotions, and the stress and feelings she had been holding back were flooding out.

Shelmaine’s eyes grew beary, and she turned away again before saying in a muffled voice, “Just go. I don’t want to see you anymore.”

Samuel noticed the redness in her eyes and felt a pang in his chest. After being together for so many years, it was rare to see Shelmaine cry.

Despite having been told to leave, Samuel stayed with Shelmine until she finished her TV therapy and even took her home.

Shelmane had tried to refuse, but she couldn’t resist Jennifer’s persuasion.

In Jenniter’s eyes, their divorce was likely a result of a momentary impulse, and there was still affection between them. Otherwise, why would Samuel take her how?

Even when he opened the car door for her and reached out to help her in, Shelmaine instinctively recoiled from his touch and went to the back seat of the car

rince inside, she tensed up, comined silent, and stared out the window.

As Samuel drove, he occasionally glanced at Shelmaine’s curled up form.

Her fare was still pale, and her brow was furrowed. She wore a beige shirt and denim skirt, and her hair calling softly over her shoulders. She looked so gentle
