Chapter 216: A happiness not worth having
"Hello Miss Eloise, my name is Bride, my name is Denton and I am the man who approached you six years ago to have your baby." Denton Bride uttered these words in a cloudy tone, the expression on his face unreadable for any emotion. But Eloise Thompson's face went pale when she heard this. She was holding the phone in her hand, and now her hand slipped and fell to the ground with a thud, and she looked incredulously at Denton Bride in front of her. The surrogate who had approached her six years ago? Why had this man approached her at this time, what did he want?
And for some reason, that uneasy feeling of foreboding grew stronger and stronger, and Eloise Thompson's heart was beating wildly, unable to calm down.
Denton Bride picked up the phone for Eloise Thompson and spoke slightly apologetically, "Miss Eloise, I'm really sorry to have approached you so abruptly, I don't know if it's convenient for you, let's sit down and talk somewhere." In retrospect, Eloise Thompson agreed.
The two then found a place to sit down nearby, by now Eloise Thompson had regained her senses and began to wonder if this man was lying to her, after all, she wasn't the only one who knew about what happened six years ago, maybe this man was an impostor...
But Denton Bride provided so much evidence, he clearly stated when Eloise Thompson was pregnant and when she gave birth to various children, that Eloise Thompson had to be convinced in the face of the evidence. Why did this man have to appear at this time? At this point Eloise Thompson felt only a little mixed emotions, and for a moment was at a loss as to how to face Hector Rogers.
Denton Bride also spoke up and explained, "Back then my mother was about to die of an illness and to give her peace of mind, that's why I found someone to have a baby, Miss Eloise, and the purpose of my visit is to take you back." Eloise Thompson's face changed as she spoke in a clear, crisp voice, "Mr Denton, we agreed that you would pay me for the baby and I would be done with it, so why are you coming back to me?"
Denton Bride's eyes were downcast and his expression flickered with a hint of depression.
"The child can't live without its mother ... And I've been looking for you all these years, Miss Eloise, think about it! Even if you don't want to come back with me, meet the child first, that child has been looking forward to seeing you every day for the past few years."
Eloise Thompson clutched her fingers tightly. For countless nights, she had wanted to see the child, but when the day came, Eloise Thompson was not happy at all, but heavy.
After talking to Denton Bride, Eloise Thompson did not return to the Rogers family, but walked to the house she had rented.
Along the way, Eloise Thompson was almost devastated to say the least, not knowing how she was going to face Hector Rogers when the child from six years ago showed up, let alone how she was supposed to face that child ...
A bitter smile tugged at the corner of Eloise Thompson's mouth; these days she thought the days might just go on forever, but God just couldn't see her getting too good a deal.
Back at home, Eloise Thompson leaned back on the sofa, no lights on in the house, and her whole body wanted to cry, why? Why did the man and the baby have to turn up at this time when everything was going so well?
She thought six years ago could be forgotten, she thought he and Hector Rogers could go on like this... but now.
Eloise Thompson, it's long past time you realised the reality that what happened six years ago cannot be erased and that people like you don't deserve to be happy.
Eloise Thompson sighed, at that moment. A mobile phone ringing interrupted her thoughts.
It was Hector Rogers on the phone.
Eloise Thompson took a deep breath and gathered her emotions before picking up the phone.
"Where is it? Not home yet."
Hector Rogers has returned to the villa from his social engagements, but Eloise Thompson is not back at this hour, and he is not a little worried at the moment.
At the sound of the familiar voice, Eloise Thompson's eyes turned unconsciously red for a moment, and she fought back the tears in her eyes as she spoke in her usual tone, "I'm going home, Hector Rogers, and on second thought, I'd better move out of the cottage! You remember to tell Solomon for me."
Now she has no face to face Hector Rogers and Solomon, and a bitter smile tugged at the corner of Eloise Thompson's mouth.
Eloise Thompson didn't bring anything with her to the villa, so there was no need to pack, which saved her from having to meet Solomon and Hector Rogers.
Hector Rogers on the other end of the line frowned slightly, hadn't she agreed to stay before? Why did she suddenly move out for good reason?
Sensing that something was wrong, Hector Rogers asked, "What's wrong? Is something wrong?"
"Nothing, I just don't think it's a good idea to stay at your place, well I'm going to bed, you get an early night."
Having said that, Eloise Thompson hung up the phone in a hurry.
Here, Solomon pulled Hector Rogers into the room and asked, "Daddy, what's going on, where's Auntie Eloise? Why isn't she back at this hour?"
"Auntie Eloise is planning to move out, she is now back where she lives."
At that, Solomon's pink face changed and the little one frowned in confusion, "Huh? Didn't Auntie Eloise decide to move in here before? Why is she leaving again for good reason?"
Hector Rogers was equally baffled and could only toss his phone aside in annoyance.
Solomon couldn't have been more bereft, he thought he would be able to spend every day with Eloise Thompson from now on, but never expected...
Father and son were in the same mood, and it was a night of tossing and turning for all three, especially Eloise Thompson.
...
Time passed quickly and two days passed, both of which Eloise Thompson spent consciously and unconsciously avoiding Hector Rogers because she really didn't know how she was going to face the man now...
Hector Rogers also came to Eloise Thompson and told him that he had arranged for Solomon to go out, but Eloise Thompson refused on the grounds that he was too busy to go out at the moment.
After what happened, Eloise Thompson didn't know how to face Solomon and Hector Rogers, so how could she possibly be in the mood to play.
Hector Rogers wasn't good enough to force it any further, and all in all the whole meal was a strange atmosphere.
After dropping Eloise Thompson off at home, Hector Rogers made his way to the office, where it was close to eight o'clock and he was still busy.
Rupert Rogers pushed the door open and came in, seeing that his brother was in a bad mood, so he spoke up and asked, "Brother, I heard Solomon say that his sister-in-law had moved out of the villa, why is that? What happened to you two again?"
Rupert Rogers can't help but sigh, it seems difficult for his brother and sister-in-law to get along well together!
"I don't know." Hector Rogers pursed his lips, his gut feeling telling him that Eloise Thompson was hiding from him.
After learning that Eloise Thompson had turned down a night out with Hector Rogers on the grounds of work, Rupert Rogers immediately called Layla Davidson to ask about the situation.
