Chapter 192: You can't be absent
With a smile on his face, Hector Rogers spoke lightly, "Why not? You're a good drinker, go on! If you don't throw up, you're not doing me any favours."
Although he had a smile on his face, everyone could hear the sombre tone of Hector Rogers' voice, and everyone around him looked at Mr Nodin with some distress, but no one dared to say anything.
Mr Nodin screamed, he vaguely thought it sounded familiar, and after a moment he remembered that he had just said the same thing to Eloise Thompson, was it because of her that Hector Rogers had deliberately plied himself with alcohol? Mr Nodin regretted the fact that he had been in trouble with Eloise Thompson for a good reason.
Inside the washroom, Eloise Thompson slipped out not just because of Mr Nodin, but more so because of Hector Rogers.
Every time she sees this man, Eloise Thompson's heart can't help but become flustered and she tries to reassure herself, Eloise Thompson, you're here to work, stop thinking so much.
Gathering herself together, Eloise Thompson returned to the booth once again.
Eloise Thompson was surprised to see everyone taking turns to toast Mr Nodin when she walked in.
Linn Dail dragged her aside and gave a rough account of what had just happened in the booth.
"Eloise, Mr Hector must be doing this for you, tsk, this Mr Nodin is really miserable too, who doesn't he fancy but you, he's had no idea how much he's had and he's still drinking, it's hard for me to watch."
After hearing Linn Dail's account, Eloise Thompson's eyes flashed with surprise and he couldn't help but glance at Hector Rogers.
Hector Rogers was indifferent, noticing Eloise Thompson's return but not looking at her, while Reeva Lawson, on the other side, looked more than a little gloomy.
Reeva Lawson clenched her fingers tightly and was seething with jealousy that Hector Rogers would even do such a thing to take it out on Eloise Thompson.
In the end, Mr Nodin drank like a pig and was carried straight out of the room. He's not going to be able to get up tomorrow in that condition, so how can he possibly talk business with Eloise Thompson now?
The deal was off, so Eloise Thompson glanced at Hector Rogers after a pause and left with Linn Dail.
Once Eloise Thompson had left, Hector Rogers was not interested in staying in the booth and left. Reeva Lawson naturally followed him and once outside the clubhouse door, Reeva Lawson spoke up, "Hector, no more business?" Reeva Lawson naturally knows in her heart of hearts why Hector Rogers just left, again because of that woman Eloise Thompson, who once again left his job behind.
"No more talk, you go back first!" Hector Rogers spoke.
Reeva Lawson was so happy to be out with Hector Rogers that she couldn't just leave, and remembering what had just happened, she took Hector Rogers' hand and said, "Do you care that much about Eloise Thompson? She doesn't even want to bother with you, a woman like that really doesn't deserve you."
Reeva Lawson really doesn't know what's so great about that Eloise Thompson woman, she's already on a blind date with another man and Hector Rogers is defending her.
Hector Rogers' face sank slightly as he glanced faintly at Reeva Lawson and pursed his lips, "Keep your nose out of my business."
Having said that, he simply shook off Reeva Lawson's hand and proceeded to leave.
Reeva Lawson stood still, full of resentment, why? Why did Hector Rogers just not see the slightest bit of good in her?
Was he even willing to take himself home? Was he in such a hurry to leave, to find Eloise Thompson again? Reeva Lawson's heart was seething with jealousy.
She thought to herself that sooner or later she would have to tell Hector Rogers about the incident and she would make sure that he saw Eloise Thompson for what she really was and that she would kill him. This man can only be hers!
...
After exiting the private room, Eloise Thompson and Linn Dail went home together.
On the way, Linn Dail said, "Eloise, I can see that Mr Hector really cares about you, can't he? What's the problem between you two? Why don't you work it out and get together?"
Regardless, Linn Dail would have felt too bad if these two hadn't gotten together.
Eloise Thompson laughed helplessly, "Well, stop gossiping about all this and get back to it!"
"OK, Eloise, then you go home and get an early night, good night."
"Good night."
The two parted at the fork in the road and Eloise Thompson made her way slowly back home.
As soon as she opened the door, Eloise Thompson's stomach ached, presumably from the effects of the drink she had just consumed, and she rushed to find a stomach pill to take, thinking she had just killed herself. But in front of Hector Rogers, Mr Nodin was unforgiving, so Eloise Thompson had to drink the wine and went to the bathroom.
After taking her medication and lying on the sofa, Eloise Thompson was completely sleepless, with the words Linn Dail had just said in her mind.
She thought that Hector Rogers, who had left so disappointed yesterday, would probably not bother with anything to do with herself in future, but it was the opposite.
Eloise Thompson wished he hadn't cared about anything, but now that he's been so good to himself, that uncomfortable feeling of guilt comes over him again.
And I wonder what Hector Rogers is doing now? Has he gone back?
The more Eloise Thompson thought about it, the more she couldn't sleep, so she simply picked up her phone and swiped through her friends.
The photo of Solomon is lovely, looking is looking miserable, and Rupert Rogers captioned it.
"My poor baby, abandoned."
Eloise Thompson felt that this meant something and was so upset that she couldn't sleep anymore.
It wasn't long before Eloise Thompson's mobile rang, it was Grandpa Fletcher and she popped her head out to pick up the phone.
"Grandpa Fletcher, still up so late?"
"Haha, fast asleep, didn't I just think of you?"
"Grandpa, I'm sorry! The company has been so busy lately that I've been working overtime every day and I haven't been able to find the time to make coffee with you."
Eloise Thompson felt guilty, having promised Grandpa Fletcher an hour after work, but now ...
Grandpa Fletcher smiled, "It's nothing, Grandpa doesn't care, I'm calling to tell you that it's Grandpa's birthday the day after tomorrow, even if you're busy, you can't miss my birthday party!" "Yes, Grandpa Fletcher, you can count on it! I'll be there when it happens."
Even though she was busy, how could Eloise Thompson miss out when she had already promised to do so before!
The two men talked for a few more minutes before hanging up.
Once the call was disconnected, Eloise Thompson gathered herself and told herself to stop thinking about it and to just let it go.
