Love Comes To Me

Chapter 1148: Fooling you?

"Let go!"

Bergerian barked coldly.

Lisa blushed and reluctantly let go of her hand, her eyes touching his cold, handsome face, and even though she had done her mental build-up she couldn't help but feel a little nervous. "Why are you so aggressive?" Lisa grumbled delicately as she tried to keep her composure.

"Why didn't you go back to Italy?" Bergerian questioned sternly.

"I ..." Lisa's eyes drifted and she made a casual excuse, "I didn't go back to Italy because I couldn't bear to be apart from you."

"Did you?" Bergerian didn't believe her.

It wasn't that she couldn't let him go, it was that she couldn't let Eloise go.

"Of course." Lisa tilted her chin up arrogantly, with an air of righteousness.

Bergerian smiled coldly, "Lisa, there's no need to pretend in front of me, we both know what you've done."

What did he mean by that?

Did he already know about Eloise's injury?

Lisa was a little bit vain, but she said with a straight face, "I don't know what you're talking about, but I didn't go back to Italy because I couldn't leave you, and I thought I'd surprise you." Bergerian stared at her expressionlessly for a moment before raising his voice and shouting, "Carl."

Carl was here?

Lisa's eyes widened in disbelief and she turned her head only to see Carl emerge from the room.

She furrowed her brows tightly and her eyes met Carl's, who hastily brushed them aside and walked over to Bergerian with his head bowed.

"Sir."

"Tell Madame what she has made you do." Bergerian walked over to the sofa and sat down, his long legs folded as he looked at them airily. "Madame she ...," Carl looked up at Lisa and quickly back down.

Lisa squeezed her palms together and lowered her voice in warning, "Carl, you need to be careful what you say, don't talk nonsense."

A cold sweat broke out on Carl's forehead as he gritted his teeth and said with a flourish, "Madame didn't go back to Italy because she was afraid that Mr. and Eloise had an unclear relationship and wanted to stay and keep an eye on him." "Carl!" Lisa roared, "What are you babbling about?"

"Ma'am, just admit it, sir he knows all about it." Carl advised stiffly.

Lisa was instantly angrier and her expression turned grim, "Why should I admit to something I didn't do?"

She took a deep breath and cursed through gritted teeth, "Carl, thanks to the way I've treated you, you're helping Bergerian to smear me?"

Madam, I'm sorry.

Carl secretly apologised in his heart, but his mouth was still persuasive, "Madam, I know you love Monsieur very much and are worried that he will fall for another woman, but you should have told him directly instead of hiding and spying on him, don't you think so?"

"You..." Lisa was about to scold him when she suddenly sensed something wrong in his words.

From earlier to now, Carl hadn't said anything about hitting Eloise with his car, but had instead been stressing that she was spying on Bergerian. She frowned at Carl, could he actually be helping her?

Lisa's sudden silence, Carl knew she had reacted, so he took advantage of the situation and advised, "Madam, just admit it, Sir will understand." With a twinkle in her eye, Lisa turned to Bergerian and sat down beside him, her eyes red with resignation, "Don't be angry, I know I was wrong." Bergerian was impassive.

"Okay, I admit that I did fear that you and that Eloise were messing around and that's why I didn't go back to Italy."

"And?" Bergerian inclined his head sideways at her.

Lisa frowned, "And? What else?"

She looked to Carl, puzzled, "Carl, is there anything else?"

"Nothing."

At Carl's answer, Bergerian smiled, a smile that did not reach his icy eyes as he turned his head and shot a stern gaze at Carl, "Are you sure there really isn't any more?" Carl replied stiffly, "I'm sure there isn't."

Not expecting that answer, Bergerian was stunned, then reacted by raising his hands and clapping them together, "Carl, good job, I gave you a chance."

Thinking about what he had just been through, Carl began to panic and he hurriedly said, "Sir, madam really didn't do anything else."

"Then why are you outside the Khan family?" Bergerian asked in a hushed voice.

"I ... I was there to spy on Eloise," Carl made up a random excuse.

"Spying?" Bergerian frowned, "What were you there to spy on so late at night?"

Carl choked, not knowing how to argue for a moment.

Seeing the situation was not good, Lisa hurriedly spoke up, "I told him to go. I was afraid you'd go to Eloise in the middle of the night."

Carl was secretly relieved to hear that.

As long as Madame was around, Sir shouldn't be able to do anything to him for the time being.

"Lisa, do you think I'm going to take your word for it?" The corners of Bergerian's mouth curled up in a sneer, "Are you and Carl combining to fool me?" "Fool you?" Lisa asked rhetorically, "How dare we fool you?"

Bergerian stared at her, suddenly stepping forward and cupping her chin, his eyes narrowed in a vicious way, "I'm asking you again, did you do anything to hurt Eloise?" How dare he do this to her for another woman!

Lisa was furious and blurted out, "So what if I did? I'm telling you, Bergerian, you can't touch me, or the Agnelli Family won't let you go." The Agnelli Family again!

She could never stop threatening him with the Agnelli Family.

Tensions rose as they confronted each other, neither one letting the other go.

Finally, Bergerian let go of his hand and took a deep breath, "I can let go of what you did before. But you have to go back to Italy."

Lisa rubbed her jaw, which was sore from his pinching, and refused coldly, "I will not go back to Italy."

"Lisa Agnelli!" growled Bergerian in an unbearable whisper.

"Don't worry, I won't do anything to Eloise, I'll only follow you around, not an inch." A smug smile curled the corners of Lisa's mouth.

As long as the Agnelli Family was around, he would always be nothing but a compromise in front of himself.

Despite his reluctance, Bergerian was sane enough to know that he couldn't touch Lisa now.

But as long as his research was successful, the Agnelli Family would be nothing in his eyes.

The thought of this calmed him down a little.

"Okay, you can stay, but I'll send someone to keep an eye on you." Bergerian said.

Lisa raised her eyebrows, "No need to send someone to keep an eye on me, just keep an eye on me yourself, I'll follow you wherever you go anyway." She wouldn't give him a chance to be alone with Eloise.

Bergerian looked at her for a long moment before the words came out of his mouth, "Suit yourself."

With that, he turned and went straight into the room.

Carl's tense nerves instantly relaxed and he looked up at Lisa with a grateful glance.

Lina walked up to him, glanced at the room with the door closed and whispered, "Remember, say what you need to say and don't say what you shouldn't." Carl nodded, "Yes."

Lisa stared at the door to the room, the corners of her mouth slowly curling into a smug smile.
