Love Comes To Me

Chapter 102: You broke up?

Eloise Thompson had not heard from Solomon or Hector Rogers again that day and returned home that night with an empty feeling in her heart as she looked around the deserted house.

Eloise Thompson's mouth curled up in a bitter smile, she had been through this before, what was there in being alone now, she mentally reassured herself.

After washing up, Eloise Thompson went to bed.

And so the day passed.

...

The following day, Eloise Thompson was fully engaged in her work.

She had a project in hand with the Chumley Group, who had a product to advertise and asked JS Creative Company to come up with a plan.

As further communication was needed, Eloise Thompson made an appointment to meet with the other party's manager that day.

In the afternoon, Eloise Thompson arrived at the restaurant where the appointment had been made.

When she got to the door, she was about to call to find out where the other person was. Eloise Thompson was looking down from her purse for her mobile phone, and in a moment of inattention, she didn't pay attention to what was in front of her, and as she walked she accidentally bumped into someone.

"I'm sorry sorry sorry, are you all right?" Eloise Thompson rushed to speak in apology and she looked up.

The man in front of him was dressed in a suit, very handsome and gentle looking, and as they looked at each other, a glint of surprise flashed across both their eyes.

"Mr Egbert."

"Eloise Thompson."

Looking back, Eloise Thompson smiled, "What a coincidence, Alumni, I didn't expect to meet you here."

The man in front of me is Egbert Chumley, Eloise Thompson's Alumni from college.

At university, Eloise Thompson excelled in all aspects of her studies, which led to her joining the Students' Union, of which Egbert Chumley was the president, and so the two got to know each other.

They had a good relationship at the time and Egbert Chumley took good care of her in the student union, but after graduation they went their separate ways and never spoke to each other again, but I didn't expect to see her here today. Egbert Chumley smiled back and said, "Yes! What a coincidence, Eloise, what are you doing here? Got an appointment?"

"Yes! Got a meeting with a client."

When Egbert Chumley said this, Eloise Thompson remembered and looked down at her wristwatch. It was 2. 30 and she had an appointment with the Chumley Group manager at exactly 2. 30, so she couldn't be late.

She continued to dial and just then Egbert Chumley's phone rang in front of her.

Eloise Thompson gave a slight pause, Egbert Chumley, shouldn't...

Egbert Chumley took out his phone and paused for a moment.

A few minutes later, the two men were sitting in the restaurant and Egbert Chumley ordered two drinks.

"I didn't think it was such a coincidence that you were the head of the JS Creative Company side." Egbert Chumley spoke up as he looked across at Eloise Thompson.

He looked at her, he had not seen her for a few years, but the girl who was so young had matured a lot and now looked a little more charming.

"Yes! What a coincidence!"

Egbert Chumley smiled and in a gentle tone spoke up and asked, "How have the years been?"

"Pretty good." Eloise Thompson's mouth curled up in a faint smile.

"And yes, Robbie Gardner was quite nice to you."

Egbert Chumley was in the same class as Robbie Gardner at the time, so he knew all about his affair with Eloise Thompson.

After graduation, Egbert Chumley never contacted Eloise Thompson again because he believed that someone else could take care of her and that he, himself, was just a transient in her youth.

Eloise Thompson blushed slightly at the name Robbie Gardner, knowing that Egbert Chumley probably still thought the two were together.

After a pause, she eventually said nothing, and after the two of them had caught up, they went in to work mode.

Eloise Thompson told Egbert Chumley the general plan, and at that moment, Egbert Chumley was heard to ask: "Eloise, do you have a partnership with Rogers Group, and I wonder if we can use their channels to promote our products?" Eloise Thompson froze again when it turned out that the Chumley Group wanted to work with them because of the Rogers Group.

"I can go and communicate and see."

As she spoke, there was a small smile on her face that looked a little forced.

Egbert Chumley didn't notice anything was wrong and he nodded his thanks.

The two chatted for a while longer and on the way, Egbert Chumley left for a bathroom break.

The washroom was on the first floor of the restaurant and as he walked up, Egbert Chumley could see a man and a woman kissing at a table in the distance, the two being none other than Agnes Thompson and Robbie Gardner. Egbert Chumley's eyes narrowed at the corners and his brow furrowed even more.

He double-checked several times that the man was indeed Robbie Gardner.

Returning to the table, he spoke up and asked Eloise Thompson, "What's going on with you and Robbie Gardner? I just saw him eating upstairs with a woman and the two looked quite close."

At that, Eloise Thompson gave a start, not realising that Robbie Gardner and Agnes Thompson were eating upstairs, which was quite a coincidence.

"You broke up?"

"Hmm." Eloise Thompson nodded a little awkwardly.

Egbert Chumley looked a little angry, and he couldn't help but remember that a few years earlier, Eloise Thompson had said that Robbie Gardner would always be good to her, and she would always be good to him, and that they would always be together.

Those words at the time cut off all thoughts of Egbert Chumley, so he never contacted Eloise Thompson after graduation, intending to forget her, but not realising that the two, who seemed so happy at first, had broken up.

Egbert Chumley was always convinced that Eloise Thompson could never break up, after all she had liked Robbie Gardner so much in the first place.

"Did Robbie Gardner negatively affect you?" Egbert Chumley's tone took on a hint of gloom.

"It's all in the past, let's not mention it." Eloise Thompson said indifferently.

Seeing that she didn't want to say anything, Egbert Chumley didn't say anything more, but slowed down and asked, "So, are you single now?"

Eloise Thompson nods and looks quizzically at Egbert Chumley.

"What's the point of asking that?"

"Nothing."

Despite what he said, Egbert Chumley was a little happy inside.

The first time he met Eloise Thompson at university, Egbert Chumley cried that the girl was unique and he unwittingly fell in love with her during their time together.

But just as he was about to confess his love, she got together with Robbie Gardner.

After graduating, Egbert Chumley began to try to forget her, but her face still came back to him from time to time, and over the years, he never met another woman who struck a chord with Egbert Chumley.

It wasn't until I met Eloise Thompson today that that feeling came over me again and Egbert Chumley realised that he hadn't forgotten her all these years.

Perhaps this reunion of theirs is a new beginning.

He will woo her.

Egbert Chumley looked at the woman in front of him with a glint of determination in his eyes.

After they had talked for a while and everything was settled, they left the restaurant and Egbert Chumley spoke up, "Let me take you back to the office!" "Don't bother, Alumni, my office is quite near here."

"Just stopping by, get in!"

With that, Egbert Chumley had opened the passenger door for her and Eloise Thompson was too embarrassed to say no again.

The car soon arrived in front of the office and when she got out, Eloise Thompson spoke up to thank her, "Alumni, thank you for the ride back." Egbert Chumley smiled, "You're welcome, it's just a small thing."
