Chapter 6
Chapter 6
The doctors who heard those words immediately stared at Harrison.
He was just a young man. Yet, the other doctors who had committed more than half of their lives doing medical research were nothing compared to a blond–haired youngster like him.
They could not help but admire him.
It was a blessing to have such an outstanding talent in the medical field.
The elderly man approached Harrison and asked humbly, “May I know where you learned your skills from?”
When Harrison saw the elderly man in front of him, he returned to his playful self, which made the others wonder if they were facing the same person. “Oh, it’s nothing. I just coincidentally did some research on it.”
The elderly man’s lips twitched. Of course, he did not believe things were as simple as what Harrison had claimed. After all, he had spent half of his life doing research, yet he was nowhere as bold as the latter.
It only took one look for Harrison to determine what the problem was.
“What a talent!” the elderly man praised inwardly.
Maverick eyed Harrison. “If they find out the person in front of them is the Ghost Doctor who’s knowledgeable in both medicine and pharmacology, will they lock him up and not let him go?” the former wondered.
After staring at the talented man for some time, he said to Charlotte, I’ll be in Yartran for some time. I’m staying at Caernah. If anything happens, send someone to inform me about it.”
Caernah was a castle located by the seaside of Walund. It was once the residence of one of Yartran’s kings, and it was hailed as the world’s most beautiful castle.
Naturally, a person who could live in that place was incredibly wealthy and powerful.
Charlotte shot him a perplexed look. “Aren’t you staying here?”
Hearing that. Maverick scoffed, “Do you think those old men can sleep peacefully with me staying here?”
As they were speaking. Harrison had already prepared the prescription and handed it to Charlotte. “Prepare the medicines based on this without making a single error.”
Charlotte nodded without even looking at the prescription.
“Feed him with that for two consecutive days. I’ll come over on the fourth day to administer the next treatment,” Harrison added.
After giving the instructions, a few of them left the room.
Those who were waiting outside hurriedly looked through the crack at the door. When they noticed everything was just like how it was before, they began to relax.
If Geoffrey had awakened and Maverick was in the room, many people’s silent efforts would be in vain.
Nonetheless, Maverick did not care what was on their minds. His purpose for coming back was to treat his grandfather. He had no interest in the assets.
Then again, it was fine if they silently battled over it. The fact that they actually involved Geoffrey in their plans gave Maverick no choice but to be involved in this matter.
Though Geoffrey made an agreement with Maverick to make the latter stay away from such dramas, there was no harm in going back against the promise for his grandfather’s sake.
Moreover, Maverick was currently not someone anyone could trifle with.
For the past three years, he had constantly been expanding his territory and power. There were only a few people who could compete with him.
After scanning the crowd coldly, he warned, “I don’t care what you guys are fighting over, but place your thoughts somewhere else. Whoever involves Grandpa in it…” He paused briefly before continuing slowly, “I’ll make their life a living hell
As he was saying that, he directed his gaze at Yuvan, sounding extremely arrogant.
Maverick’s gaze was so cold that it sent chills down everyone’s spine.
Even Yuvan was shocked by Maverick’s menacing expression, causing the former to take a few steps back.
When he snapped back to his senses, the fury on his face was palpable, as he could not believe he was intimidated by someone younger than him.
Yuvan’s gaze darkened, and he raged, “Watch your mouth! We’ve been meticulously taking care of the patriarch. It’s just that

he’s gotten old, and his body can’t take it anymore.”
When Maverick heard his words, he exuded a frosty aura, making others feel slightly suffocated by the tense atmosphere. “Meticulous? Taking care? Hah. Yet, he still got poisoned right under your nose. Worst of all, no one noticed even though half a month had passed. Is this what you call meticulous?” he questioned in his heart.
Suddenly, he turned around and walked away.
When he left, everyone exchanged odd looks with each other.
In the limousine, Harrison could not stop staring at Maverick, who had an incomprehensible expression.
After some time, he asked softly, “Rick, who do you think was the culprit? It can’t really be that guy, Yuvan, right?”
“It’s not him,” Maverick answered firmly.
Harrison was intrigued upon hearing the answer. “How did you know?”
The cold voice sounded again. “He wouldn’t have the guts.
“Oh.” Harrison thought.
Maverick then recalled Charlotte’s strange expression back in the room. He narrowed his eyes and leaned against the seat. made of genuine leather.
“There’s going to be a major change in the Mills family,” he mused.
At the crack of dawn, the limousine arrived at Caernah. When they arrived at the main entrance, they were stopped.
After rolling down the windows, the guard noticed the person in the backseat and quickly lowered his head respectfully before letting them through.
Fifteen minutes later, the car pulled up in front of a building.
Hearing the sounds outside, someone in the building rushed out, stunned to see who the visitors were. Immediately, the person hurried over to greet the man, “Mr. Mills, you’re back!”
Will Costen, the butler, greeted Maverick respectfully. He then called out to the housekeeper to serve the few young men.
As the housekeeper approached, wanting to remove Maverick’s coat, she was stopped by the latter.
Seeing him waving his hand in dismissal, the housekeeper glanced at Will, who nodded. Only then did she lower her head and step aside.
“Get two guest rooms ready.”
Upon receiving his employer’s instruction, Will saw Stanley and a good–looking young man beside Maverick. Immediately, he understood the situation. “Sure.”
When Will left. Maverick removed his coat, unbuttoned his cuffs, and walked straight to the couch.
Seeing that, Harrison and Stanley followed suit. As an observant person, the housekeeper took the initiative to serve them coffee.
“Let’s sit here for a while.” There were traces of exhaustion in Maverick’s voice.
After all, he did not get any sleep the previous night. Naturally, he did not feel energetic.
Harrison and Stanley each sat on an individual couch.
“Rick, how long are you planning to stay here this time?”
There was no expression on Maverick’s face. He crossed his legs and had a lit cigar in his hand. However, he did not take a single puff. “After Grandpa wakes up.”
“Will this be dangerous? We haven’t found the unknown force who ambushed you. There aren’t many forces in Yartran we can mobilize, Stanley said hurriedly, feeling extremely worried.
Harrison responded playfully, “What are you afraid of? You’re a top international assassin. Are you unable to protect Rick?”
“Mr. Cole!” Stanley shot him a glare.
Harrison pursed his lips in response.
“Urgh. Stanny is still no fun, he lamented.
Not long after, Will returned.
After lowering his head before Maverick as a sign of respect, he reported, “Mr. Mills, the guest rooms are ready. Your room is ready as well. You may get some rest now.”
Maverick nodded. Understanding his gesture, Will turned to the other two men and said, “Gentlemen, please follow me.”

Harrison uncrossed his legs, stood up, and patted his shirt. “Oh, I’m so tired. I’m going to get some sleep. Don’t wake me up if anything happens.”
Stanley, too, got to his feet, getting ready to follow Will.
Just as he took a step forward, a voice rang out behind him.
“Stay back, Stanley.”
Hearing that, Stanley turned around and waited by the side.
When Harrison and Will had left the living room, Maverick finally said, “Look into that woman from that night.”
Recalling the housekeeper’s conditional reflex when she approached him, the scene from that particular night flashed past Maverick’s mind.
