Chapter 15

Joshua had sent her many messages over the past few days.

Melody scrolled to the top to take a glance. Every message Joshua sent was about him admitting his mistake and asking for a reconciliation.

Joshua texted, “Are you there, Melody?”

Another message from him wrote: “I was wrong. Melody. Can you forgive me?”

Joshua continued his text, “I’ve been reflecting on myself over these few months and realized that I shouldn’t have treated you that way. I regret it.”

Another text wrote: “Give me another chance, Honey. I’ve made it clear with Natasha. I won’t have anything to do with her anymore.”

Melody frowned and felt nauseated upon reading how Joshua addressed her.

Back then, she was fine with the endearing name given by Joshua. However, ever since she witnessed the latter cheating on her with Natasha, she regarded him as a disgusting jerk.

Just when she was about to exit and delete his contact, Joshua made a video call, leading to her accidentally accepting it.

Joshua’s face suddenly appeared. Even though Melody was looking at him through the screen, she felt the urge to puke.

“Why did I even agree to become his girlfriend back then?” she mused in

“You finally answered my video call, Melody!”

Joshua, at the other end, looked happy yet nervous.

Initially, Melody did not want to answer him. However, having accepted the call, she decided that she should make things clear between them.

“Didn’t I mention that we have nothing to do with each other anymore?” Her voice was so cold, as if she was talking to a stranger.

Upon hearing her determination to sever ties with him. Joshua became so anxious that he paced to and fro in his room.

He ruffled his hair in frustration. His hair looked as though it had not been taken care of for a long time.

As Joshua spoke, there was a hint of pleading in his voice.

“Melody, Mel, please don’t say that. I’ve been thinking a lot recently. I think our breakup was too rash.”

Joshua quickly added, “I broke up with Natasha last month. I’m telling the truth. You can look at your Facebook if you don’t trust me! She has been hooking up with another man since long ago.”

“Ha! It turns out that he has been cuckolded by his woman. That’s why he is in such a rush to ask me for reconciliation. If I were to accept it, he would be able to humiliate Natasha with it,” Melody deduced inwardly.

She had gotten used to Natasha’s behavior as the latter had always made a new boyfriend one after another back then when they were in university. Nonetheless, never had she thought that Natasha would lay hands on her boyfriend.

“You know what kind of person I am, Joshua. I’m someone who won’t fall for the same mistake after getting hurt.”

“Have you forgotten how nicely I treated you when we were together, Melody?”

Melody’s eyes flickered as she suddenly recalled the old days in university. “What Joshua said is right. He treated me so well when he pursued me. That’s the reason I agreed to become his girlfriend,” she pondered.

“It’s all in the past.

“How could you say that it’s all in the past? You can’t possibly take the time and effort I’ve spent on you lightly!”

“What do you want then?”

“Either reconcile with me or pay me 15 thousand dollars.”

Upon hearing his bold request, Melody chuckled and mused inwardly, “He’s probably the only person who dares to do such a lowly thing by asking for a breakup fee.”

Melody unplugged the cable connected to the charger on her phone and walked to the balcony in her room. As she sat on the recliner, the angle of her camera changed.

“There’s no way I’ll reconcile with you. Nor will I give you any money!” Her voice was filled with determination.

Just when Joshua wanted to say further, he suddenly noticed the grand interior design of the room behind Melody across the screen.

Certain that Melody could not afford to live in such a luxurious room, he recalled seeing her getting into a limited edition
