Love Began with the First Meeting

Chapter 1365 Extra Story 120 Of Edgar Swooping In

"Sir, where are we going?" the taxi driver asked politely after he had rolled down the window. Cain boarded the taxi and stared at the driver through the rear-view mirror. "Dukes Hotel." "Understood," the driver replied and started the car into the bustle of the city.

Cain stared through the car window at the moment until his eyelids started to feel a bit heavy. Why not take a small rest? There was a distance from the military district to Dukes Hotel so he decided to make use of it to organize his thoughts. "Dad! Dad! Please let my dad go! He is not a bad person! Please let him go!"

"According to sub article 2, Article 567 of the Criminal Law, your father is deprived of lifelong political rights. Death penalty shall be imposed and the execution will happen ten days later!"

"No! Please! Have mercy on him!"

Suddenly, Cain opened his eyes in a flash, gasping for air. His face was filled with cold sweat, and he squinted his eyes at the flashing lights outside the car. His handsome face was in an uneasy haze.

The driver seemed not to notice anything and was focused on driving. However, a car accident blocked the road which was one crossing away from Dukes Hotel.

"This looks serious." The driver stretched his neck to figure it out and turned his head to asked, "Sir, there's only one crossing left to Dukes Hotel. Shall I stop here or bypass another way?"

"It's fine. I'll get down here," Cain answered, pulled out his wallet, and picked a bill randomly to give to the driver. "Keep the change." He got out of the car, leaving the driver speechless. The cab fare on the meter was less than the half of the bill's amount. Cain walked around the noisy streets with his hands in his pockets. Flashing lights, car honking, siren sounds, cries, and screams. Just exactly what happened to him twenty years ago. Nonetheless, the only difference was that the leading characters were him and his mother back then.

Pausing for a moment, Cain looked at the scene of the accident. Crowds of people surrounded the troublemaker. Cain's sight fell upon the E-bike that was crushed and hurt. It reminded him of his bicycle many years ago.

The brand new bicycle was turned into a heart-breaking grievance which was rooted deep in his heart forever and remained untouchable.

The firefighters' voices stood out despite the city noises. The sound of the chainsaw released a ear-piercing sound, causing some people to shout. Ambulance had brought the wounded up and the pool of blood on the pavement looked like some magma from hell. He turned away. Even though he was far from the spot, he could see that both parties were seriously injured. They might probably die. A child was left there, crying for his mom.

Cain had finally arrived at the hotel. He slightly frowned when he saw the general manager who circled around the lobby.

"Manager, the vice president has arrived," an employee gently reminded Yale Zhao.

Yale Zhao was a sophisticated man in his forties. He wore glasses, had a balding head, and a beer belly. He was so fat that he looked like he was about to burst out of his uniform anytime. He recognized Cain immediately so he quickly bowed. "Good evening, Mr. Nan. I've been waiting for you. Your room is already prepared and if you wish, I can lead you to..."

"Yale, go check the troublemaker and the victim at the nearby intersection." Cain's indifferent voice cut him off and he turned towards the employee. "Show me the way to my room."

Giving Yale Zhao a nervous look, the employee had no choice but to nod and hurried up to lead Cain to his room. Yale Zhao was left puzzled and sighed to himself. He watched Cain's retreating figure and tried to understand why Cain made such a request.

"What does the car accident have to do with us?" Yale Zhao muttered to himself. Then he told the hall manager, "Hey, I need you to go and investigate both the troublemaker and the victim of the car accident. I need your report before midnight." He sneered right after he gave out his orders.

The hall manager was present and silently grumbled, "Mr. Nan asked you to do it, not me..." "Yes?

What are you talking about?" Upon hearing his complaint, Yale Zhao stopped in his tracks.

"Ah, nothing. I didn't say anything." The hall manager flashed a cheesy fake smile. When Yale Zhao was finally out of sight, the hall manager couldn't help but curse him and then stepped out of the hotel to probe into the accident. Cain felt relaxed as he walked out of the shower. He walked inside his room with only a towel around his torso, showing off his well-chiseled upper body. He grabbed his phone and checked what time it was and made a call.

"Are you done with your business in the campus?" the person at the other side of the phone answered calmly in fluent English.

"The first phase has already been done," Cain answered back in English too. "Well, I am at the hotel right now."

"It's probably late where you are now. Let's talk tomorrow."

Cain heaved a sigh. "I can't. I have to visit my parents tomorrow." Then he paused for a moment and continued, "I'll be brief. I just want to know which degree you will make me take up this time."

The person went silent for a while and replied, "It depends on how strong you are." Then he sighed, "Alan, it's been twenty years. You can figure out a lot of things in this period. After all, I am a businessman with clear intent. You do know what I am all about. Whatever it is, value is always my top priority."

Cain sat down on the sofa and his eyes were as profound as the stars in the night sky. Droplets of water emerged from his wet hair and dropped onto his nose. "So you need my value to be used by you, am I right?"

The person went silent again and then compromised, "You know what? Just do what you want. I'll transfer all my assets in Z Country to your personal account. But remember, Alan, I can promote you to high status, and I am also capable of sending you to hell. You're a smart guy. Don't stray away."

Cain scoffed, sneering, "Well then. Let's wait and see!"

"Huh?" The man couldn't comprehend what Cain meant. Cain didn't give any chance for him to ask.

He hung up the phone call and dialed the number of his foster parents in Y Country.

It was past midnight and Cain found himself unable to sleep after hanging up the phone call. Before he came back, he made sure to put everything in place. However, something had happened!

It made Cain feel as if it was a blessing from God.

In S Army

After listening to Mr. Wang's report, William felt helpless and distressed. "How could it become so serious?" He just stayed at home for a single day to mellow out. Then something unexpected had happened suddenly.

Edgar remained calm, making others hard to read his expression. "What about another witness?" The person he asked was not Mr. Wang but Daniel, who was drooping down his head.

Daniel has a desperate look on his face. He felt like the world was crashing down on him. He replied, "The guy was confined to a guard chamber."

"The guard chamber in where? Which place?" Edgar lowered his tongue. He got to know that Mr. Wang didn't make it clear judging from what Daniel reacted.

Daniel took the courage to tell the truth. "The closed guard chamber!"

Edgar's expression turned gloomy, but he kept asking, "How can you shut someone up in the closed guard chamber without finding the truth?" Then he sneered at Mr. Wang, "I can't believe that my soldier has been humiliated in such a manner. It's unfair, really." Mr. Wang didn't agree at what Edgar said. "Captain Edgar, so you also knew that he is a soldier from Eagle. Tell me, what is Eagle? Ah, I'll tell you. It's the special brigade where every soldier has received professional training. Do you think an ordinary chamber is able to lock him?" He kept asking aggressively, not letting Edgar to defend himself. "Or maybe, Captain Edgar, do you intend to cover for your subordinates in front of our senior military officer? You should be ashamed to be their superior."

Daniel only glared at Mr. Wang and spat, "What are you talking about?"

"What do I mean? I guess I didn't made it clear for you. After all, dead men tell no tales," Mr. Wang only sneered.

"Wasn't there an army deserter?" William spoke with apathy. "No matter what the result is, it's too early to draw out conclusions. Edgar, take your soldier out of the closed guard chamber and confine him in an ordinary one." Then he glimpsed at Mr. Wang, who was about to interrupt him, and said, "I know you aren't up for it. Just let Edgar check it out first." And then turned to Edgar. "Now, Mr. Wang, you should send someone to assist Edgar to catch the soldier at large. After all, it should be settled down as soon as possible." "Yes!" Edgar and Mr. Wang spoke together sharply.

"Good. You are dismissed." After that, William paused and added, "Mr. Wang, please stay. I need to know about this from you. Edgar and Daniel, go and check on your own subordinates. I believe that everyone from Eagle is a capable hero so we won't wrong or tolerate anybody."

"Understood!" Edgar and Daniel left William's office together.

When the two of them got into the jeep, Edgar asked indifferently, "What the hell is going on, Daniel? Why there's someone being killed?"

The two men looked at each other in silence. 0000000000☐☐☐☐☐
