Love Began with the First Meeting

Cain was seated across from them at the table, a plate of food set in front of him.

While she was thinking about all this, unconsciously, her facial expression turned from a nonchalant one to an angry one. "Are you angry?" a soft, low, deep and magnetic voice whispered in her ear. Maggie, Benjamin and Monica all looked at the direction of the voice. Instinctively, Benjamin looked around. He saw that Edgar and Claire were sitting at another table together. He turned back to glare at Cain. 'Why is he here? And what is he smiling at? Is he framing us?' he thought.

Maggie, on the other hand, didn't think the same as Benjamin did. She looked at the man in front of her, who was extremely handsome but kind of a devil as a training instructor. "Shouldn't I be angry?" she asked innocently.

Once again, his lips curled up a little in a faint smile. "Hmm. You should be," he answered with a nod. "Then why don't you explain?"

A glimmer of cunning flashed in Maggie's eyes. "Mr. Nan..." she prolonged his name, which sounded terrifying to Benjamin and Monica, who were watching their friend and Cain talk it out. Suddenly, Maggie placed a hand over Cain's on the table, which caused gasps to emit from the students. "The more I try to explain to them, the more they'll disbelieve me and the more they'll believe the rumor. The most effective way to break a rumor is to create a more efficient rumor. Do you think so, sir?"

Cain lowered his eyes to look at her hand, which was different from the hand of any girl he had touched before. Their hands were either soft and smooth or covered with calluses because they carried guns. Maggie's hand was not soft, but there was no calluses either.

His smile deepened. He raised his eyes again to meet hers. "Hmm, that is a good idea," he said, his gaze growing more intense, as if he was going to absorb her into his world. In a soft and distant voice, he added slowly, "But you'd better not try everything so easily. Otherwise, perhaps it would not be easy for you to get away." His smile turned from an attractive, evil-like smile to a smile that seemed gentle and pampering.

Maggie felt like she had gotten an electric shock. She withdrew her hand, pursed her lips and looked at Cain. Fear could be seen in her eyes. She had never had such a feeling, not even when she carried out the mission together with Edgar in A City. How could it be? Cain smiled and then looked at Maggie again with his deepened gaze. "Enjoy yourself," he said mysteriously. Then he glanced at Monica and Benjamin before getting up to walk over to Edgar and Claire's table nonchalantly.

Watching the scene unfolding in front of him, Edgar's gaze deepened. Despite his emotionless face, he could not help but feel worried. He paid more attention to Cain.

"Cain is trying to break the rumor, right?" Claire said, looking over at Edgar. "I'm afraid the storm will slide across you."

Edgar looked away without responding to Claire. Only when Cain sat at their table, Edgar said, "You and Claire will take charge of the following intensive training." "Okay," Cain answered in an aloof voice, as though nothing had happened.

Due to the spreading rumor, both Cain and Claire had known that there was a special relationship between Edgar and Maggie. Nobody knew what Cain thought about that. He had majored in quite a few subjects, including psychology. His ability to keep his countenance was as strong as Edgar's. They both were good at reading people's minds, but it was not easy for others to see through them. As for Claire, she had not expected that Edgar would marry Maggie during his vacation after coming back from the peace keeping mission. She had no idea whether it was true or false. She only knew that nobody in S Army knew about it, but she didn't know whether William, the top leader of the army who had to approve Edgar's application for marriage, knew it.

While she talked to Cain and Edgar, she glanced over at Maggie from time to time. She decided not to think about whether it was a rumor or reality. After all, lovers might break up, and a married couple might get divorced.

While the three instructors concentrated on the training, the rumor was developing and Maggie took the terrible consequence of what she and Cain had done in the dining hall. Before that, the students only could not understand how Maggie had gotten to know the secret of training. However, after watching the scene in the dining hall, they deduced a dramatic story of a love triangle. There was quite a few versions of the story. It was acceptable that they said there was a sexual relationship between her and Edgar or between her and Cain, but she could not accept the evil saying that it was she who destroyed the relationship between Edgar and Cain.

It was because all the students talked about it that pretty soon it overwhelmed Maggie. While she was washing her clothes, she thought about the rumors over and over until she grew angrier and angrier. She was already angry enough, but when she heard a couple of students talking about it in the corridor, it was the last straw.
