Chapter 1350 Extra Story 105 Of Edgar Astonishment
Maggie felt she was choking on her own saliva all of a sudden. She could not believe what she had just heard, so she fixed her eyes on Edgar, silently asking for his confirmation. Seeing his affirmative nod, Maggie screamed in astonishment, "That's impossible!" "Hmm," Edgar said as Maggie pulled his arm in protest. "It is impossible for ordinary people, but for members of the Long Family, there is a high possibility." A smile toyed on his lips. Seeing that Maggie looked defeated, he tried to console her by saying, "You will understand what I mean when you meet Addison tomorrow. It is really difficult to comprehend how the brain of any member of the Long Family works."
Hearing this, Maggie could not help but roll her eyes. "Uncle Three, were you trying to console me?" she asked primly.
With a nod, Edgar answered, "Yes. Aren't you feeling better?"
Maggie was speechless, but in her heart, she was roaring silently, 'Do you always console someone by saying things like that? It could only make me feel worse. In fact, you were adding salt to my wound.' Faking a smile, she gritted her teeth while gazing at Edgar. "Uncle Three, you succeed only in frustrating me!" she uttered every word from between her teeth.
Then she strode into the house angrily. Seeing that she was pissed off, Edgar felt oddly happy instead of any other negative emotions. A smile spilled over to his eyes, setting them aglitter. Just as Molly had said, when a man and a women who loved each other were together, sharing either one's anger, sorrow, and joy would only serve to make the other one feel happy.
Edgar lowered his eyes pensively. He thought that Brian had succeeded in changing a once timid girl, from years ago, into a romance expert now. A faint smile played in his eyes at the thought, but at the same time, he felt helpless when considering the dark past. Molly had undergone so many hardships before she finally had a happy ending with Brian. She deserved every beautiful thing she had now. Meanwhile, after being a single bachelor for so many years, Edgar had welcomed Maggie into his life. Thinking of this, he could not help but feel grateful to God for his chance at happiness.
The smile on Edgar's face stretched in contentment. Following Maggie, he walked into the house too. To his surprise, Maggie was no longer angry at all. Standing in front of the laden dining table, she was looking with shining eyes at the extensive arrangement of food all over it. She looked as greedy as a cat and seemed about to drool soon. Edgar also looked at the dining table, on which there was a variety of delicate desserts and pastries. With the ghost of a smile on his lips and his arms crossed across his chest, he casually leaned against a nearby marble pillar. In a leisurely tone, he remarked, "Molly thought that maybe you felt too embarrassed to enjoy the dinner, so she took the liberty to ask me about your taste. I guess she had somebody prepare the food."
Hearing that, Maggie turned to look at Edgar with wide open eyes filled with flattery and approval. "Uncle Three, Molly is a really kind person. Why didn't you try harder to win her back from Brian?" she asked innocently in a tone as if she felt sorry for Edgar's loss. Without waiting for a reply, she seated herself at the table, intending to stuff herself like a glutton with the delicacies.
Hearing her odd question, Edgar didn't know whether he should laugh or cry. Maggie had only yesterday viewed Molly as her imaginary love rival, but now she felt sorry that he hadn't succeeded in winning her heart.
"If I succeeded in pursuing her, I would never have had you in my life. That would have been an even greater loss for me," he smoothly said, taking a seat opposite Maggie. Seeing that she seemed moved by his words and was staring at him with watery eyes, he sighed slightly and continued, "Everybody has their own course through life. According to my life course, I was destined to meet you and be with you."
"Wow!" Maggie could not help but sigh, as she was emotionally overcome by his words. She had thought that Edgar was not the type of man who would say such honeyed words to his lover. As a result, she was quite moved by his sudden confession. She felt more than satisfied to be the object of his affection. "Uncle Three, please do say these words to me as often as possible in future."
However, Edgar shook his head, ruining the sweet atmosphere completely. As the affection on Maggie's face gradually turned into anger, he said slowly, "Action speaks louder than words." When he finished these words, his eyes became stormy and Maggie felt as if she was about to be sucked into the magnetic depths of his pupils.
She thought that maybe she was wrong in seeing Edgar's words in a sexual context. Now that Edgar had confessed his love towards her with such sentimental words, how could she even think of sex as soon as he mentioned "action?" It was not until now that she realized that maybe she was more hungry for sex than Edgar! However, his eyes were filled with a blazing light. What did that mean?
Thinking of these things, Maggie swallowed heavily as her mouth began to water. Trying to cover up her wicked thoughts, she hastily said, "Alas... I'm so hungry that I could eat a horse now! Let me start eating!" With an expression of escape in her eyes, she hastily lowered her head. At great speed she selected a small bun and stuffed it into her mouth.
Seeing her odd behavior, Edgar frowned. "Take it easy. There's no hurry. Don't get choked."
"Ahem..."
Maggie was already choking before Edgar could finish reminding her. The bun was completely stuck in her throat. In an instant, her face had turned red because of a shortness of breath.
Edgar could not help but shake his head and sigh. He rose and walked to her, pommeling her on the back. It was quite a while before Maggie got her breath back again. The first thing she did, after several greedy gulps of air, was to glare fiercely at Edgar. Then she roared in a ragged voice, "It's all your fault!"
Hearing this, Edgar was slightly stunned. He didn't know whether he should laugh or cry. He didn't understand why she blamed him when she had choked all by herself due to stuffing her own mouth.
However, he could do nothing but accept her temper tantrum. In front of a man, especially when that man was her husband, a woman always behaved in such a self-willed way.
When Brian and Molly returned to the Glamour Hall of the Long Family Mansion, Charlie and Evelyn were already asleep, while Addison was browsing through something at his desk. His still boyish face looked so serious, which prevented others from disturbing him. "I prepared some midnight snacks in the kitchen," Addison said after marking something on the document he was reading and turning to look at his parents, who were standing at the door. "You'll only need to heat it in the microwave oven."
Molly nodded. She walked over to Addison and looked at the documents piled all over the desk. She felt sorry for her eldest son. "It is late. Why haven't you gone to bed yet?" she asked in concern.
"There's been a lot of things to deal with in the National Congress recently," he answered with a smile. "The New Year is fast approaching. We have to hold many meetings still to summarize work done in the last year and to plan for the coming year for both Dragon Island and Dragon Empire Group."0000
