Love Began with the First Meeting

Chapter 1265 Extra Story 20 Of Edgar Awkward

Soon after Maggie got out, she realized that she shouldn't have made that promise just now. She noticed William winking at her repeatedly. After mulling it over for a while she concluded that it must have been Edgar's trap. "What are you thinking about?"

Maggie did not realize that Edgar was standing in front of her, as he spoke not in his usual tone, but in a soft and low voice.

Maggie's hair had covered her face as she looked down at her toes, scratching her foot on the ground from time to time. Without a conscious thought, she answered, "I was just wondering if... Edgar had anything to do with what happened today." Right after she said that she raised her head and her eyes met with Edgar's deep, captivating eyes. Startled, with her jaw dropped to the floor, she had forgotten how to shut her mouth which remained open.

"Do you think I set a trap for you?"

Edgar asked, "Are you disrespecting your superior again?"

Maggie gasped, almost immediately covering her mouth with her hands. Ever since she came to the army, she had been punished many times and she had had enough. "No! Who said that?"

Feigning astonishment and outrage, she blinked rapidly, whipping her head about. "Captain, who would dare to say such a thing? Whoever it was, they need to be punished accordingly for passing such false comments about the captain."

Edgar was amused by the way Maggie changed her face even more faster than the weather did in March. He chuckled and said, "I will see you at the gate in half an hour."

As soon as he said that, he narrowed his eyes and leered at her as he walked around her to his office upstairs.

Maggie sighed in exasperation, mumbling to herself in frustration. She glanced at the meeting room and turned around to walk back to the lounge. The only three people present in the lounge were actually waiting for her. When they saw her come in, they surrounded her. "Maggie, did you make another mistake?"

Jake took pleasure in her misfortune.

Edith pushed him aside and said, "How many kilometers will you have to run this time?"

"You are all so evil and heartless and... How could you guys be enjoying this? Do you even deserve to be my friends?"

Garth rolled his eyes at her, completely disregarding her concern and said, "Is your holiday cancelled?"

"I can't believe that you guys are my best friends." Maggie shook her head, feeling too disconcerted to say anything and then nodded. "But Garth's right. My holiday is cancelled."

"..." They were just joking and pulling her leg. When they heard that it was true, they looked at Maggie in utter shock.

Maggie shrugged her shoulders and said, "Well, I hope you guys have a good time. Don't forget to miss me when you're having fun in the beach. Alas!"

"Oh, Maggie! That sucks. Don't worry. We will miss you... Every time I eat something delicious, I'll think of you."

Maggie pouted her lips as if to show her disappointment, while in fact, she was happy. Nevertheless, she pretended to be angry to make them feel guilty. Soon, after bidding them farewell, she ran to the gate of Eagle.

Edgar wasn't there yet when she arrived. Out of sheer boredom, Maggie bit her nails and then laced her fingers together behind her head, relaxing. She wondered if she and Edgar alone would be enough to solve the problem in A City.

While Maggie was lost in various fancies and conjectures, a military Land Cruiser stopped in front of her all of a sudden. She stood straight almost out of instinct and tilted her head towards the car.

Upon realizing that it was Edgar's car she quickly opened the door and got inside.

Gordon greeted Maggie with a smile, but Edgar ignored her as he seemed to be reading something from the files in his hands. Maggie had a reputation for being naughty and unruly on some occasions, but

she knew the basics of professional ethics and courtesy.

"Sir..."

Edgar's eyes didn't move from the files as he lazily forced a word out of his mouth. "Speak!"

"Sir, I don't know anything about this task apart from what I heard just now." Maggie was clearly at a complete loss.

"Hmm, I don't know anything, either," Edgar answered simply, "Which is why I am going through the files now."

Maggie was speechless. After she saw what her dream lover did that night, she shouldn't have any feeling for him. She sat straight and looked out the car window, seemingly bored. She thought that by now she would get even with him after coming out of the military headquarters. Maggie patiently listened to the sound of Edgar turning the pages and looked at the passing scenery. After they arrived at S City, the two went to change in the safe house and then two other people dressed up as them, got into the car and left.

Maggie gawked at Edgar who wasn't wearing the army uniform anymore and couldn't control her excitement. She had seen Edgar dressed in army uniform, combat clothing and training suit, but never like this.

The black shirt with a stand collar and two undone buttons made his dark skin seem more attractive.

He looked completely different from his usual disciplined and unflappable self in Eagle, with his sleeves rolled up.

The narrow-hip suit trousers made his tall figure look even more toned and defined... Any woman with a sense of style would drool at him.

'Wait a minute!' Maggie held back her thoughts suddenly. 'I'll bet he's the type of man that looks slim with clothes on and fat when he's naked. I wonder... Would he be more charming without his clothes?'

Edgar noticed Maggie's observant gaze. She, too, had ditched her army uniform and was now dressed in a more comfortable chiffon dress. Edgar waved his hand to catch her attention and said, "Do I have to take off my clothes and show you?" "Only if you want to..."

Maggie's mouth was faster than her brain. That part of her got her into more trouble than she fancied. She realized that she had thought out loud by accident, but fortunately she stopped just in time and attempted a quick recovery. "Sir, how can you have such dirty thoughts?" Edgar didn't mind her and casually replied, "If you didn't have such dirty eyes, I wouldn't have such dirty thoughts..."

Without further ado, he dragged a suitcase and walked outside. "Our flight leaves in one hour. If you don't want to be late, you should go now."

Maggie was rendered speechless by Edgar's blithe indifference. Infuriated, she grabbed the suitcase by the handle and dragged it outside. Gritting her teeth in anger, she mumbled, "You're a dirty... How dare you call me dirty? I looked at you as open as the day, huh!" Maggie believed that her voice wasn't loud enough, but Edgar still heard her. However, he didn't trouble the little girl by telling her the truth. Instead, he showed a faint smile.

The girl was in her twenties. It was time for her to start dating, so she restlessly daydreamed about the man, which was not a big deal, as it was no different from a man who liked to fantasize about a beautiful woman. Needless to say, Edgar came to this conclusion because as the head of the special soldiers, he needed to understand the mentality of those around him. Only by being so analytical was he able to qualify as not only a special soldier, but a high-ranking official.

Edgar was a shrewd judge of character but the only person he ever failed to see through was... Brian Long! That man took sophistication to a whole new level. What you understood was what he wanted you to understand.
