Chapter 90
Chapter 90
Thus, Melina knocked on the door, and once again, it was Alfred, the butler with the insincere smile, who received her at the door.
He looked rather pleased to see her. “You’re here, Ms. Crawford. Do come in.”
“I had nothing else to do, so I came a little early today,” Melina said somewhat sheepishly.
“Not at all. It’s alright.”
Alfred wouldn’t consider it too early at all, not when Dante had taken the initiative to ask about her yesterday. He’d been shocked beyond words at the time, for it was the first time that Dante expressed his willingness to interact with an outsider.
If he’d known that Dante would feel this way about Melina, he would’ve crossed out the part in the contract that gave Melina the weekends off.
Had Melina arrived any later, Dante might have torn the house down by then.
While Melina felt puzzled by Alfred’s attitude, she didn’t think much of it. Once again, she was brought to the same room as before. This time, when she entered the room, she kept her guard up. If Dante decided to get physical again, she could easily dodge him.
However, when she entered, all was calm.
Dante was sitting by the window of the dark room. There was a small opening in the curtains from which he could see the outside world. He was like a prisoner locked inside a cell, staring out at the sky.
Melina couldn’t help but feel a little sympathetic toward him. As it was, she could understand why Dante behaved in such an extreme way. She figured he must’ve been on the receiving end of far too many strange looks and acts of discrimination due to his albinism.
Dante heard the door opening and turned around to look at her with his light–colore
eyes in the same way he looked at the outside world.
Even though he saw her looking at him, he didn’t fly off the handle or try to hurt her.
“If you don’t want to get tied up, you need to stay calm. You can’t overpower me,” Melina said in all seriousness.
Dante kept quiet.

Melina had her guard up the whole time, but she realized that he showed no inclination of wanting to hurt anyone today.
Dante sat down at the desk and looked at Melina. “Aren’t you here to earn money? Why aren’t you starting the tutoring session?”
Melina snapped out of her reverie and said, “Oh, right. I’ll get started then.”
She figured Dante was in a better mood today. Naturally, she was happy to see that he wasn’t causing any trouble. Even her tone was a lot more light–hearted as she went through the lesson today.
A few minutes later, one of the household staff knocked on the door before coming in with some fruits and snacks. She kept her head down, too afraid to even look at

However, he noticed Melina staring at the snacks with keen eyes.
Melina was starved. She’d only had a
few slices of toast and a hard–boiled egg early in the morning before busying herself with work. She had also missed lunch. She was going to grab a bite to eat once the two–hour tutoring session ended, but now that she had some food in front of her, she felt even hungrier.
Dante, who didn’t have an appetite at first, took one of the pastries and started munching slowly. He was satisfied to see Melina gulping her saliva. It was as if he’d made a curious discovery.
Still slightly distracted, Melina carried on with the lesson. “So, our country’s famous-
Her sentence was interrupted by a loud growl, making her turn scarlet. She was starving, and her stomach growled so loudly in protest that it masked her voice. How embarrassing that was!
Just then, the plate of snacks was shoved toward her.
“Do you want some, Ms. Crawford?”
“Can I have some?”
Dante nodded. Everyone else treated him like a monster and treated him as if he were scum. No one was willing to approach him, and they would never eat his food either.
Unable to resist the temptation, Melina reached her hand out toward the plate.
